FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 |OT| Change the Future

Well the normal encounters may be easy, but the bosses are kicking my ass. Had to redo
Atlas in AF 10 and Caius in AF 200
a few times. Definitely getting that frantic feeling again which is good.

Holy crap on a poodlestick the final boss is hard, mostly because
Jet Bahamut keeps summoning those other Bahamuts before I can lay the smackdown after buffing then it heals itself
. Could someone help me? I'm not actually dying but I can't get in and I've been doing this fight for almost two hours to a standstill.

If you're spending too much time buffing
do it before taking down the other bahamuts, or don't do it at all... throwing up debuffs on the boss is important (deprotect, deshell, imperil), but you can live without the buffs. Also, if you aren't controlling your saboteur they'll prioritize poison over deshell and imperil so that can waste a lot of time. Try to get the boss down in one stagger, because Jet Bahamut becomes much more of a pain after the first one if you don't. Use Tri-disaster to stagger the boss (after maintaining the chain guage with your saboteur of course), if your monster's feral link guage is full, use it, and use Serah's Ultima Arrow as well. Once the chain guage is at 999.9% (or close to it anyway) switch to Cerberus and do as much damage as possible (Feral link, and make sure you use Noel's Meteor Javelin right before the stagger is up, it will do massive damage.)

EDIT: OT from the rest of my post... Can anyone tell me if I can fight the Immortal in Archylte Steppe more than once? Just a yes or a no, please

Way too easy to get overlevelled in this game... I need to rush through more and run away from more mobs :p

Running through
Academia 500 AF
and enounter a red Behemoth and two Cait Siths, before I could react the Mog Clock turned red and my retry option was locked. ):

After that I continued to get my ass kicked by the three of them. I considered myself to be fairly strong at this point too!

Did nothing but play today, got lots of Fragments, became way too over leveled, and I just finished episode 5. Probably will beat the game tomorrow. Yipee! Definitely gonna platinum too. While this game is missing the annoying Treasure Hunter trophy, it does have the bestiary side quest, which I can imagine to be annoying Speaking of which, anyone if you have to have a check mark besides those enemies for them to count, or you just have to fight them once?

I can't kill it after one stagger. I can get it at a quarter of its life, maybe half sometimes off one stagger. When it does that break curse move it messes my team up and I try to heal it off but then it just goes back in the air but if I go aggro even like that I'll eventually get messed up. Noel heals too slow and screw putting a Medic monster in.

Graviton cores - how are you supposed to find them without using a guide? For example I looked all over the
Bresha Ruins 5AF
but didn't find anything new.

I was able to heal through that move fine with the Salvation paradigm... you'll probably need a medic monster in there. I'm not sure why you would need more than Com, Rav, and Med for monsters in that battle.

Other than that, I'm not sure what else to tell you. Good luck!

They are invisible and you need to do the moogle thing to get them to appear when you find them. Yeah, they could be anywhere and some of them are pretty hard to find.

I've heard a random woman screaming during cutscenes three times now >_>; At first I thought it was VA for one of the beach kids running around (first town), but it happened in the house, too. Freakin' me out.

Well the clues given are pretty vague, I mean the one for the
Bresha Ruins 5AF was "inaccessible to contemporary observers"
What does that even mean? I tried throwing the moogle to some areas
that I couldn't reach because they were blocked off with rubble
but that didn't help.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I remember where it is, but try the area that you can only get to if you jump to it with a chocobo

I think what's much harder to find in this game is Wild Artefacts. I've been looking for the last one for forever, I have 146/160 fragments and still had 1 area left to access, then I finally found it

The Graviton Cores aren't actually too hard to find, but realising how the game is helping you do so took me a while. Basically, if you go to Fragments, then check the Graviton Cores one, each one you select shows you a picture of where the core actually is. Once you realise this, it becomes a lot more simple.

I managed to find 5, but that list says there are 7 to get. The other two are in areas I haven't unlocked yet, but all the guides I've looked at only bother getting the first five, are the other two a post-game thing or something?

Yeah, looks like I need another one of those to unlock a new area. Apparently you can
buy one in the Casino
, but you need
a shitload of gil for that. Any suggestions on gil farming locations?

That actually worked. I retried and leveled up a spare Green Chocobo I had at the last minute and managed.

I think I figured out my entire issue with that battle. I was using certain Paradigms improperly and not using SEN/SEN for Noel and Serah to protect them from the main attacks. Also, Salvation was quite literally a salvation for me.

Thanks for the help man. :)

o_O as soon as I got control of Serah, I put on my summoners outfit

Really? I remembered that I can't choose any outfits when I got control of Serah at the start...I don't even see the costumes under the outfits option. Until I reach Chapter 2 that is...

I could never debuff him, ever. What I did was have a SEN monster in every paradigm but two, and have it attract Yomi's attention. While Yomi healed in his invincible phase, I switched to Serah as MED, Noel as SYN and another SYN monster to get healed and buffed, generally I was done a bit before he started attacking again, which allowed me to swtich to RAV/RAV/RAV and raise his chain gauge a bit, and when finally when he started attacking I switched to COM/COM/SEN and just make do with what I had filled of the chain gauge.

I don't find the game hard,if you don't go to places you aren't suppose to go hehe, and then you know right away, but I don't find it as easy as some of you say it is also so I think I am doing something wrong with the monster stuff.

Especially the infusing part so I have a small question...suppose I take Cait Sith and infuse him with any other monster I have and it says it will be enhanced but on the next screen it says it will have no role(or new role)is it enhanced anyway if I proceed with the fusion?

Also about the packs, how do I switch my pack of 3 monsters to add them in my paragdim set-up faster?

Is there anything I should care about when leveling up?

Because I've seen some guides and they seem too much for some higher stats when the game is easy as it is. Right now I've 99'd both Noel (COM) and Serah (RAV) and going onto Noel with SAB & SEN and Serah with SYN and MED.

go to that page, enter the numbers clockwise ([0] is the top one or '12' on the clock) , doesn't matter if you have less numbers than those text boxes over there, just enter them in order from [0]->[1] etc. when you're done hit the left button and solution is displayed. follow in order.

Nice twist plot at the end of episode
4
; I don't think the plot fails at making sense, I think the real problem here is bad writing in itself and that most of the characters lack character development, and that's strange coming from the same writer that gave every XIII's main character backgrounds and reasons. Also, really too much filler in the first hours of this game, and again this is strange considering XIII was so well paced and focused on the story experience, probably even more than every Final Fantasy that came before it. M.Toriyama is really a strange (/random) director!

Let's see what the next chapters are about.

It was advertised on the 360 in the UK. No mention of PS3 version in the adverts

again? Really, Square should reconsider this marketing tactic. I mean I know they get money from MS for this, but simply put more PS3 owners would be interested in the game than x360 gamers. They should try to accommodate those fans too, rather than alienate them by pushing the x360 version so hard (and giving it exclusive content). You don't see Activision trying to promote PS3 COD versions so as to appeal to more fans on that console since they pretty much appeal to all the fans from x360.

the problem isn't really Toriyama's directing but rather his writing. He's directed FFX which is considered the second best ff after VII. He did X-2 which everyone at SE and Toriyama himself said would be a fun spin-off type of game and he got that feeling across. Even in FF XIII he mostly succeeded with what he wanted from the game. But XIII was only co-written by Toriyama so his writing wasn't shown off fully. T3B and XIII-2, thought, that's Toriyama writing it by himself. The guy just has to realize, and SE as well, that he doesn't have what it takes to be a story writer. Let him direct stuff and all, but don't let him write a story. Because really all this game seems to have needed from what I've read is Nojima or Kitase writing it and we would have a 9-10 scores from the press, GOTY contender etc....i.e. what FF was up until 13

I have a question. How many fragments can you get in one run of the game?
I beat the game with 55 or so, but I was curious about which ones CANNOT be obtained in the first one. Am I only to assume the Paradox Endings and the quest that requires a full log of the enemies are the only ones you must beat the game at least once to accomplish?

Just collected all the necessary Gravitron Cores and about to start Chapter
5
, I believe. How much furthur do I have to go if I mainline the rest of the story? I plan on going back to finish up a bunch of side story stuff, but I'd like to finish the main story before I start Reckoning.

Not a whole lot is left.
About three/four more areas, and they're not that big.

Okay, I keep getting owned by
Proto-Behemoths and Yeomen
in
Academia 500AF
, but both Serah and Noel have their primary roles levelled up to 99. So I can only conclude my support sucks. What's better than a Cait Sith and where can I get one? And also where can I get the materials to level it up with?

You can get a Flanitor which is a decent medic in Augusta Tower. You don't really have to defeat those enemies now, you can just skip them but if you really want to, take out the Cait Sith like enemies first with COM/COM/COM and then try to take out the Proto-Behemoth before it transforms to its two legged form.

Need help with one of the paradox endings:

Serah + Monster versus Caius, read up on it and it seems to be the hardest paradox ending. I had trouble in this battle before I finished the game and now that I have finished and done all paradox endings but this one and Noel versus Caius, I am a lot stronger but it probably still won't be a cake walk. I even had a little trouble with him in Oerba during that paradox ending. :( any advice?

Also, another question... anyone know where to get the engines to level up my flanitor (level 3 monster material, he's only at level 13/14 I think)

edit:

If you have level 99 roles, you should be able to defeat them, I did without maxed roles anyway.

Just relentless assault, defeat behemoth as fast as possible, before he changes his form. Chichu will help a lot here if you have him. Once he is gone, cerberus seems to be more effective than relentless assault for those other things he appears with.

I used a really cheap strategy, but it worked wonders! What I did was getting a decent SEN monster, in my case it was one of those mecha robots you get in the Augusta Tower, and maxed him out (early peaker); he ended up with about 6500 HP. Afterwards I went into that fight with Serah as SAB, and the SEN monster in all my paradigms, this way while the SEN monster got all the attention and damage from Caius, Serah debuffed and dealt wound damage to Caius which is very useful since his HP constantly regenerates. After about 10 minutes his max HP got reduced to 27009, which appears to be his minimum max. HP (http://i.imgur.com/HX1ut.jpg), at which point a barrage of spells with Serah as COM or RAV should be enough. Obviously have a MED/SEN paradigm for when its needed, and having the SEN monster know Mediguard helps a lot too.

Snow died/faded away?! Amazing. I'll pretend that he'll stay gone. Noel also shot up in Best Ever by telling a dying man he hated him, and then after Snow died, repeating that sentiment. Awesome.

Never come back Snow. Ever.
