FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 |OT| Change the Future

What's the word on who we'll be facing in the Coliseum other than Omega and Lightning/Amodar?

They said they had plans for more classic FF bosses. Besides Omega, I think it's safe to expect Omega/Ultima Weapon and Shinryu, specially considering all three are already confirmed to be in Theatrhythm, and Omega looks the same (except adapted to fit KH Avatars/Theatrhythm art style) as he does in FFV/XIII-2.

Getting a bit confused with fragments and artifacts, whats the difference, jeez why does this story have to be so insane, FF needs to go back to the basics.

Artifacts are needed to open gates. Fragments are just something you collect to get 100%. Collecting certain fragments leads to bonuses in the form of skills.

Artefacts are the things you need to open gates. Fragments are memories/messages/data/etc stored in crystals and other items.

Ok thanks for the differences between fragments and artifacts, I see multiple gates in one area, do they lead to different locations or is it just for convenience?

Agreed. Just don't think about it too much. WHO FILMED AND EDITED THE INTRO SEQUENCE FOR HOPE TO DISCOVER AND WATCH? Why am I playing timed connect the dots?

How many bosses do we know that'll be DLC? Omega and Lightning are the only ones Square announced?

I wouldn't mind it if they had a bundle of 25 or so for $5.00-$10.00. But this is a Japanese company, so I expect everything to be hilariously overpriced...:<

The less you think, the more you will enjoy the game.

Nailed it

The story is such a convoluted mess. I literally laugh out loud during most cut scenes when Noel or Serah "connect" the current events with the past. Yeah, guys, it all makes perfect sense, I'm glad one of the 3 of us get it.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

Mostly agreed with his critique. Initially I was positive on the concept of the game, and now that I am also just over 30 hours in and nearing the end, I am struggling to press on. The story and characters are awful, the 'side content' ranges from average to awful, and the core combat does not appear to make good on the potential unless you grind out your monster squad and crystarium to take on the endgame optional bosses. In my entire 30+ hours of play, I have had no problems sticking to 'RAV/Com/Rav' 5-starring everything in my path well under par times with only the rare paradigm switch to medics if needed. Sab/Sen/Syn? Pfft...that stuff is only reserved for the 50 hour fights. Meh.

I also spent most of last night doing the casino crap. Taped down my LB for the slot machine during sleep to wake up and find I thankfully earned the optional Lucky Coin fragment(thank god I never have to touch that stuff again). And now I need to grind out 40k or so more doing chocobo races with my maxed Silver Chocobo in the races and I can put this Serendipity crap to rest forever.

I'm at least looking forward to downing the toughest fights(and again finally making some good out of this combat system), but ultimately I would place this game pretty low on the list of FF games in any sort of ranking based on my overall experience.

I guess I can understand him not knowing what happens in 13, but I'm pretty sure the brief synopsis included with the game explains Fang and Vanille and why they're in their position.

Does anyone use a COM monster as their 3rd attacker?

I have chichu and he's a house but I feel like a RAV better serves the overall battle by jacking the stagger bar up.

Does anyone else think that

A dying world is one of the most depressing places in the game/series with music that matches it very very well? I mean I think it's a great piece of music but it's even better because it fits the area so damned well

Also, anyone know if Lightning is easier than Omega? I still haven't beaten him :(

How can the game be called FINAL Fantasy when it is number 13 part the second?

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense if you ask me. Not so final, is it now.

Agreed, this was one of my favourite areas in the game.

Any cheap ways to beat Yomi fast?

SAB/SAB/DEF = /yomi

Its is nice with the red sky and the music. But then when you can freely return there the level is so damn bland and boring. Laughable world and looks like PS2 HD =/.

Does anyone have an extra code for the GameStop dlc? I went amazon but would like to acquire both if possible.

Also wtf my phone just autocompleted gamestop with caps. Why is that in my phones autocomplete dictionary.

who programmed the damn syn role. why wouldn't i want to cast veilga over veil aweiofj;waefjio;wjaeo;fjwaoe;fjioawefj

This is why people shouldn't rely on auto-battle so much, honestly it's not that good.
Alternatively you could use the paradigm tune system and set whatever paradigm it is you have with a SYN to "wide".

Does that poison him? What about healing? Lol. He has a state that makes him invincible and he starts healing himself, then starts using area wide spells, not to mention he is fast as fuck.

Its easy: When he attacks you try to cast bio on him (SAB/SAB/DEF). Once he goes into shield mode you go to a heal/buff paradigm (MED/MED/SYN) or (MED/SYN/SYN).

If bio hits early you can also try to attack him directly with COM/RAV.

Repeat until he is dead.

Ok so I haven't played FFXIII yet, I've put over 30 hours into this one and love it. I'm on Episode 4 so I've been taking my time.

I love a lot about this game: the whole battle system, using monsters (leveling them up, infusing), the music (how can you NOT like the soundtrack?!), the locations I've been to so far, and I really don't mind Serah (though I hate her outfit) or Noel. The voice actors do a great job.
Caius is an asshole but I like his character. I don't like Yuel, she's boring.

You guys think this story is actually confusing? How so? Everything is pretty well explained throughout the game...

Sure, there is some mystery and sometimes the characters themselves are confused by some turns of events, but everything is eventually cleared out... you just need to pay attention to the cutscenes.

It's at least simpler than FFVII anyway...

Other than the time travel inconsistencies that I made no attempt to make sense of, I thought the story was the most straightforward Final Fantasy I've played since... IX, maybe.

I agree, I also had no problem understanding FFXIII (without reading the data log as well) but people seem to be confused about that.

Don't understand it myself personally but I enjoyed it anyway :) and that's what matters to me.

It all makes perfect sense until you get to the end of the game I think, anyway.
Huge ending spoilers:
What I don't get is, shouldn't Noel have known letting Caius die would cause that to happen? Why didn't he take the power of the guardian instead? Also, Lightning would never "admit defeat" as the datalog says, and enter a self-induced crystal sleep... that part is just BS. She says right before this all happens in New Bodhum 700 AF "I will never stop fighting" and the game just expects me to believe she gave up? Thirdly, is there some other way to kill the goddess, or was it Caius's plan all along to be killed by Noel? Would Caius have never succeeded if Noel and Serah did nothing?

The part I don't get is
if you decide to show mercy to Caius, he ends up practically suiciding which he could have just done himself to kill Etro.

What I don't get is
how Noel just stands there with his blade pointed at his chest for five minutes when he didn't want to kill him
.

Noel didn't inherit the power because he had a strong will. If he hadn't had one he would have inherited the power as seen in one of the paradox endings, or so one of the fragments says. And it was Caius's plan all along going by the secret ending.
