I'm sad that they didn't release any costumes this week.

There's no point in them if I've completed/100% (if i do) by then :(

Well you will get the regular CP for beating him but not the 10k you got for beating him the first time since that was for the fragment for beating him.

I got 4k CP for winning the battle and 30k for the Fragment I got from him. I won't take him on again until I'm a lot stronger so I can make it go quicker. So the 4k is consistent? If so that's alright I guess.

Anyway, I got a bit lost so went back to Academia 400AF and had no idea what to do because both of the fast track pavements were set to up (meaning it was impossible to leave the area where the time gate is) until I realised I could just jump down them haha. Now I can explore again...

Spiffy_1st's avatar reminds me of something : have you noticed that at least one of the NPCs
in 003 AF Bresha Ruins
is dubbed by Junpei's voice actor ?
He is located in the area near the stairs leading to
Hope and Alyssa

damn, i've 5-starred at least 20 green chocobos today and haven't caught a single one. is it the best medic? i have one of the siren dudes from augusta tower, but its too ugly :/

Yeah, at level 99. Keep that Flanitor to infuse into the chocobo though, for esunada.

Is the Green Chocobo's feral link skill as good as Hyper Rescue is, though? Hyper Rescue is amazing, it heals everyone's HP full and raises anyone who is dead, I think it even cures some status ailments

No, Hyper Rescue is one of the best feral links D: the chocobo just outpaces his stats and passives.

But honestly, set up MED/MED/MED and you'll be fully healed almost instantly anyway.

Picked this up over the weekend due to the $20 gift card offer at Target, and I'm pleasantly surprised at how good it is. The level design alone is so much better that I almost wish we had skipped XIII entirely and gotten this game instead. Combined with the towns, puzzles, and constant side quests, XIII-2 is a much more complete JRPG than its predecessor ever was.

There are some aspects I'm less keen on, namely the two-man party and dull monster companions. I also got stuck for an hour or so in Chapter 3 because I thought the
"nothing to see here" message in Oerba 200 AF meant "go to another time" instead of "go 100 feet to the right"
. Silly me.

I've got Chichu and Flanitor as my COM and MED, but I still need to figure out what works in that third slot. I'm thinking either a good RAV or SAB, but something with that Feral Link that casts tons of buffs on your party would be swell too, and IIRC that's SYN-only.

i haven't leveled up my chichu at all. i remember reading that there was only one and i was so worried about ruining him that i left him alone and beat the game with a chocobo.

I've done the Lightning DLC battle over 20 times and still haven't got Lightning's crystal yet. Very frustrating.

Wow, I got her crystal twice in less times than that... never got Amodar's though. Not sure I ever will since I've Platinumed the game and don't want to go back to it just yet =P

Just got a weapon drop (Grasitha) for Noel from fighting Ochu a second time. Higher attack than my Vajradanda + chain bonus lvl 5 and vampiric strike. Not bad ~

Vampiric stike is so much better than it sounds... Noel hardly ever needs heals with that thing

Oh ok.

I have like 145 fragments. Slowly getting there, how do you guys 100% so fast? And I play daily too. One thing, getting the map completion on Acamdeida 500 is a pain in the ass. I can't figure out how to rotate those on the left side to get to those platforms.

I was able to do everything so fast since I'm on summer break (go southern hemisphere!) and pretty much everyone I know is on vacation somewhere, which leaves me a lot of time to do anything.
Also, for Academia 500 AF completion you can just cheat if you have the fragment skill that enables you to jump longer, since you can jump to your death near the platforms and the game'll still fill up their correspondent places in the map.

Final boss:

Goddamn the final boss was an awesome one in this game. The right amount of challenging, balancing role switches, etc. Really felt like a nice length, difficult (if you didn't over level) fight. Hats off to them here, they nailed it

For the casino trophy, I just hooked up an arcade stick and put something heavy on the L1 button. Came back a few hours later and I had at least 20k coins in earnings.

The Proto-Behemoth in Academia 500 is destroying me, it just stands up and one hits everyone

This is a good example of a fight where you seriously need buffs and/or debuffs. Take out the little healer dude first (the Proto-Behemoth doesn't hit too hard in its first form), buff your party and/or debuff the Proto-Behemoth, then whale on it as fast as you can, either damaging it enough that you can kill it before it transforms or so that you've driven its Chain gauge high enough that you can slaughter it pretty quickly post-transformation before it slaughters you.

It's definitely one of the hardest-hitting enemies in the whole game, though, for sure.

All right children, I've finally done it. Casino coin trophy GET.

And all without doing the chocobo races. It's entirely possible to win it from the slots only. Basically what I did was got 8,000 coins, made sure the slot was in the best mood possible... played for a bit manually, then taped the L1 button down and took a nap.

When I woke up... I had won almost 60K casino coins! Exited the slots and it gave me the trophy :DD

And so... my first Platinum trophy ever belongs to FFXIII-2... more so for that fact that it was ridiculously easy to get:

I skipped it til after the final boss. :lol

He can one hit a maxed out party without defenders. Really the only viable strategy is burning from the top.

Doing the same lol

Although this boss apparently doesn't care about my Sentinels and is going straight for me

I don't get how everyone is winning at the slots. Even in its "on fire" mood, I've gone from 7k coins to 0. Crud.

Ok so I decided to mess around with the slots...

how do you guys win at these? (to lazy to invest in a chocobo for the races)

EDIT: SPEAK OF THE DEVIL

EDIT 2: Congrats on getting platinum Kagari!

Yeah, I was too lazy to do the chocobo racing too. If you tape down the button for the slots, it can work. Make sure you save before entering the slots too incase you lose everything and can restart right away.

Only just got this game yesterday and stuck two hours into it... But ended up getting the CE on a whim.

And, wow. It's, quite literally, the worst Collectors Edition I've ever gotten of anything - ever.

Another thing: Quick time events made me shudder at the start, but considering the way they meld 'Action Cinematics' with both Cinematic and Ingame Battle, it all flows really well.. Combat, then QTE, then cinematic, back to QTE, combat etc, doesn't make the QTE bullshit stand out as much and makes it feel more like a transition between combat to cinematics instead of just a tacked on overused shitty feature.

I have a couple Crystarium questions, if anyone can help...

I'm well aware and have been taking advantage of the role stat bonuses for the large nodes in the Crystarium (all COM and even SAB bonuses for Noel, all RAV and odd SAB bonuses for Serah). My question is this: do the roles you level up on the smaller nodes have any effect on what status increases you get, or are they predetermined no matter what roles you level up on them? I'd feel a lot better if I found out it's the latter...

Also, does role level affect anything besides ability-learning and (for SAB and SYN) large node bonuses? Like, once I've learned the last ability in a specific role for a character, does leveling up that role any further make any difference in battle?

Thanks...

Congrats! I've been lurking while waiting for my account to get activated, so I know you've been working at it for awhile. :)

I know I'm going to at least get all 160 fragments, but I haven't decided yet if I'm going to go for the Platinum... I might, though. I'm *really* enjoying FF XIII-2.

Not enough bulky plastic statues?

That would've actually been a positive addition.

The art book is akin to leaflet, the holographic Lightning card looks like it came from a chip packet, the "soundtrack" is akin to a CD sampler you get off the front of a magazine (not to mention the vocal tracks are terrible) and no access to the DLC content - yikes.

Nothing of quality whatsoever.

The European LE is a bit poor compared to what North Americans got.

Australia. What edition did we get? The leftovers from promo material?
