Ok. I need a new COM. This level 45 yellow chobobo just isn't doing it. He only has like 294 str, lol.

What's the best COM?

Also, Augusta Tower map completion. It's at 97%. I've been to both 200 and 300 AF, and I see ZERO unexplored area. Help!

Did you go to the 13th floor on the Augusta Tower?

And he is where?

Seriously, about this map. I see none unexplored places. Can you think of what I could be missing?

Go to archylte steppe. Throw mog into the red flowers near the nomad village near the red cactuar monument. He will insta find chichu for you.

Kind of, but the game is so easy you don't have to min/max to win. The big spheres give extra bonuses (COM = STR, RAV = MAG)and there are a finite number of those spheres so you want to use those to level your main role. The exception is SAB which gives STR at even levels and MAG at odd levels.

Edit: Forgot SYN, even level is health and odd level is MAG.
Alright thanks. I already screwed my build then, hopefully there isn't some super hard boss that will stop me getting platinum for this game.

I think that was my favorite last boss encounter in any FF game, although I haven't played XII so I can't compare. Got destroyed a good amount of times. Don't go in under leveled if you're expected an easy challenge.

Also, Serah looked hot in the ending.

I don't know if this is true in the English version, but in the Japanese it counted down to it.

Here's a video I made of myself beating it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAPZ3IYfjn8

Just saw the countdown in my last battle, I seem to keep getting bad luck where the camera won't look at the countdown so I don't know it's coming

I really feel underleveled for this battle though, Serah is at 3000 HP for me and Noel 4000 HP

I have to admit, this game is far more engaging than I expected.

Considering how little fondness I have for FFXIII's characters and mythology, I'm surprised how likeable the cast is in this. I'm still not entirely convinced by the battle system (brute forcing through by overlevelling is far too effective) but on the whole it's showing me a good time.

You have to give them credit for the comprehensive effort made to address the complaints levelled at its predecessor.

I'm sure Kagari's Chichu answer is the better one, but another good one I've found if you need a temporary COM option that's easy and quick to build is the Munchkin (found in Bresha Ruins -300 AF-). It's an Early Peaker, and once I had used all Power materials to level it, it had 660 or so strength. After I infused it with my Level 20 Iridiummu, it had 770 or so. Its Feral Link, Goblin Punch, is pretty decent, and it's just pretty good overall if you want something fairly strong that's really quick and easy to level up. I think it uses level 2 materials if I remember correctly.

But now that I know that the Chichu is the best COM monster in the game and where to get it, I'm gonna go get that...

You could just move the camera yourself.
Speaking of moving the camera, I only noticed recently you can move it while travelling on the Historia Crux (when the game's loading). I thought it was pretty mindblowing and it would have made the long loading times slightly less boring to me, but since I already did everything it's kind of useless.

No, it just gives you more stats.

Thanks. I assume that's your answer to my second question; what about my first one? Are your stat gains affected at all by the roles you choose to level on the small Crystarium nodes, or are the small node gains predetermined? Thanks again if you can help.

Lol. I figured it out. I had to close the gate, it starts you on level 12. Cool. So this Chiciu guy, does it matter the weather?

Er, how do I turn on my fragment skills again? All of them say off but whenever I try to change them to on it doesn't do anything.

Um, highlight whichever you want to turn on and press X/A then select ON or whatever it is it says.

Wow, this game's a cakewalk with monsters in the party (trying to get the Feral Link trophy, so I put monsters in the party for a little bit).

I mean, gosh, they make the battles go way faster than normal. :lol

Yeah, I got confused for a bit with the wording. I thought it was supposed to say 'on'. I haven't been collecting that many fragments, heh.

I absolutely LOVED every minute of the ending. I thought it was fantastic. I'm so out of step with reviewers/gamers nowadays =/.

Just started this, had to stop right after the first boss. Not much to say so far regarding improvements, XIII was ok and I liked it well enough but I appreciate how the first area in XIII-2 isn't a full on corridor and does a good job in making you feel you're already "doing something", if that makes any sense.

I haven't kept with the pre-release media beyond some pics and a trailer, Serah and Noel are nice so far. I was expecting something very annoying for some reason. I may be speaking too soon.

I'm liking those conversation options, I can't resist picking the funniest ones ("who's the boss?", "do you want to try them on?", etc). I'm commited to just chill with this game in this playthrough and not worry about builds, items and w/e.

Ok, I did a little digging after having seen Marvelous AQL staff in the credits. Turns out there's a bunch of guys from Sacnoth/Nautilus/Feelplus who worked on XIII-2!

A little list for crazy people like me who want to know where the Shadow Hearts staff is up to now...

Hiroshi Yamamoto (Cutscene designer for XIII-2, worked on Shadow Hearts 1, Wild Arms 4&5, Lost Odyssey, Folklore, etc.)
Izumi Obata (Storyboard artist, worked on Shadow Hearts: Covenant and From the new world, Koudelka, Lost Odyssey and the original Parasite Eve!)
Atsushi Miyazono (Lead Character Modeling & Texture Designer for XIII-2, previously worked on Lost Odyssey)

As well as a bunch of motion designers that also worked on Shadow Hearts, Drakengard, etc.

I'd prefer if they were working on another Shadow Hearts...

Xanadu/Serendipity might have been one of the bigger disappointments for me in the game. I was really expecting something more like the Gold Saucer when I heard there would be a casino/theme park type thing. Instead there are 3 games, 1 of which is DLC (lol)

Got a decent starting streak on the slots, hit 5000 coins a couple times. Lucky Coin get... still didnt hit 10k profit yet.

If I exit the slots, save, then hop back in, does that restart my session?

Xanadu sucks. It was clearly thrown in there to try and please fans... well, it didn't work and was the point of frustration for me in getting my final trophy :/

I saw. I was going to suggest taping down L1 yesterday but I thought maybe you wanted to do it the hard way. Congrats on the platinum though. I don't think I have the motivation to get all 160 fragments. Only up to 63 or so.

I did end up doing the tape trick... which to my surprise earned me over 60,000 in coins.
As far as earning the fragments... if you use a guide it's a lot easier... plus that way you can space out the different things you have to do to get them.

Finally. All maps done. Sucks, the last one I had is Academia 400 AF, it was on the other side of the map. I was at 98%. I had to slog through all the C'ieth fights. :( Why did they make this area? At least let us run from those.

And got the supreme being trophy. 149 fragments! I can see the finish line! :p

I'm the kind of guy who likes
happy endings. This ending is depressing as
fuck. That's why I truly hope this game sells so we get XIII-3. If, for whatever reasons, this ends up being the final ending, oh ma God.

But otherwise, yeah the ending is good, despite lack of resolution and raising tons of questions.

Might want to spoiler that.

Are all of you using the official guide to find everything? I'm honestly regretting not picking it up when I had the chance.

I have the CE guide. It's great, but sometimes doesn't explain something that well. Really helps with the fragments and side stuff though.

Any particular way to level up this Chichu? Just saw a picture of it. Its one of those? I hate those little things. Maybe it'll plead for me. :p Do I infuse it with something to make it better?

Nope, I used http://ff12.jp/ but that's Japanese only so I don't think it'll help much people. There's a pretty complete guide on GameFAQs now though.

My Japanese is no where near good enough to comfortably read something like that. Thanks for the suggestions though.

I'll rely on GameFAQS for now I guess.

There's an infuse guide that involves capturing quite a few monsters; I haven't followed it yet as I need to farm tier 5 power crystals for the chichu.

So if everyone is following that guide, feed the chichu only materials that boost STR.

The guide is part of the full walkthrough FAQ, or you can search through the boards on there.

I prefer Gold Chocobo to Chichu, but that's because my 24 Gold Chocobo had better stats than 37 Chichu, and I never bothered to level either one any higher since there was no need lol

Thanks for that.

I think the last trophy I'll be getting is the 99k damage one. That's going be a tough one.

I don't know how but I got it on my very last hit against the final boss my first time playing. It was strange too cause the whole time my max damage was about 11k.

The highest I've seen was when I was fighting Long Gui. Was like 32kish or something.
