FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 |OT| Change the Future

That's probably for the best. If you could easily level up your monsters during the main story, the game would be even easier...
They could have just imposed the same "limit" they do on Serah and Noel, that the crystiruam continues to raise how much CP you need. Or maybe for monsters, getting cp would be dependent on being active. Or maybe just make the game actually challenging.

I don't mind grinding when I can set a goal or think "doing so many of these battles with so and so monsters will get me this much exp". But when monster growth becomes dependent on getting items that don't always drop, it becomes kind of un-fun. Then again I don't like grinding for weapons or anything either. So my party members are basically weapons or something. Not ideal for me.

Well, I think Serah and Noel's leveling should have been limited the same way XIII's was... force people to go through the main story if they want to level more. Also, Serah and Noel being only really "good" at COM and RAV sucks. They should have Serah good at RAV, MED, and SAB, and Noel good at COM, SEN, and SYN, and balanced the game around that + the level limit.

EDIT: Oh, and there should be a lot less CP gained per battle. I was max level before I gained the double CP fragment skill, and I never grinded... that's fucked up

Rolling in CP and Encounter Master get. Still in episode 5 and shooting for tougher opponents skill before finally setting foot in episode 6.

Yeah that's where I am now. I've had to put it down a few times... only so many 100s of battles I can handle in one play session :p

I started just running forward through the Mog clock. Letting the clock run out gets you further, even though the battles are a little "more tough" (haha).

I feel like the same idiot who designed the encounter rate in Academia was part of deciding to shove 98% of the game's puzzles all in Oerba.

Question, the get all the graviton cores quest isn't mandatory or is it? Cause these things are ridiculously obscure for this quest to be mandatory. If it isn't mandatory how do you advance the story if you skip it?

You guys know that the small picture shown when you accept the quest is showing you the location of the fragment/graviton core, right?

Wife bought this (PS3 version) and I'm playing it for her (basically I'm held captive and unable to play other games whenever a new FF game comes).

The first 2 hours of the game were complete rubbish. However, when we got out of New Bodhum, the game started to become actually enjoyable. The game really started to pick up steam after that. Now we're at
Yaschas Massif 1XF
and the game is really good.

It's like the first 20 hours of FFXIII were compressed to 2 hours and then the rest of the game is like wandering in Pulse. Anyway, the game is leaps and bounds better than FFXIII. I actually enjoy playing the game, rather than enduring a goddamn 40 hour on-rails RPG like the previous game was.

Also, I -really- enjoyed the
Yaschas Massif 10F
song.
This could be one of the best Final Fantasy field songs I've heard in the series history.

QUESTION: is there a possibility to get some of the tamed monsters back? I tested out the infusion system quite early in the game and noticed that I can't re-capture the enemies. :(

For real? Geez. I was loving this game until now. This fetch quest is ass.

You need 5, 4 are in areas you have been in already.

I do think that part was really dumb, I had to lookup how to get wild artefacts and what gate to use it on to progress.

You can definitely recapture monsters you infuse. You're probably just getting unlucky. :(

For example, I infused a Pulse Gladiator into one of my monsters before realizing that he was pretty useful and and had a low drop rate (I got caught it probably after the second encounter?), and wasn't able to catch another until after maybe finding ~50+ more.

Anyone know what the sales figures are like for the game? Is there likely to be another?

You'll have to wait for official press releases or NPD. A certain banned site has numbers but they're banned for being unreliable.

Good gosh, this game's save data takes so long to transfer to a memory stick. Longer than a lot of other games' files I've transferred.

5 trophies away from the plat, btw (Fair Fighter, Supreme Being, Anomalous, Defragmented, Serendipitous... and then the plat, which I don't usually count). The slots fragment is going to be the death of me, I'm sure.

Also, the Long Gui in this game is a bloody joke. Holy crap, I didn't expect it to be that easy (I haven't level 99'd all of my roles yet). I'm a little disappointed. Yomi, at least, put up a bit of a fight because of how speedy it was. I expected the Gui to cast ultima consecutively on me, because I had Double Shields or whatever it's called set up to minimize damage from that. What a drag.

All I did was:
Rav/Rav on the legs until I staggered (use Thunder for maximum chaining since it's the fastest spell, etc, etc)
Com/Rav to get rid of the leg
Repeat for the other leg
Sen/Sen for whenever it cast Ultima or stomped (btw, is it me or was the camera in XIII easier to handle during Gui battles to see when the Gui was about to animate to do something?)
Sab/Rav to cast Imperil on it, then Rav/Rav to stagger
Then Com/Rav (this is set up twice for ATB cancelling) to get rid of it. Switched to Serah to use her Ultima Arrow to drive the gauge up to 999%, whacked away, and then Noel's Meteor Javelin did it in towards the end when I felt that it was sufficient to use it.
I had a Sen/Med for backup but didn't really need it.

Contrast that with even just my Shaolong Gui strategy from FFXIII, and you can see why I feel a little disappointed with this.

You should try for the Fair Fighter trophy. The boss is a bit difficult (harder than Long Gui).

Weird...some of my friends who finished said the Ending is amazing.

Is this more of a love it or hate it ending?

From the Japanese launch it seemed like the ending was terrible according to people haha

Yeah, I heard Attil--... Raspatil is a bit difficult since it uses a lot of Blood Damage attacks and it has a lot of HP, so I hope it'll be good. That's on tomorrow's agenda.

I actually never noticed this until the last few search quests that I did (the paradox agents in augusta tower). I spent hours searching for mostly everything, it took me like two days just to finish the Graviton Core quest.

I guess that's why the game took me 90 hours to Platinum, lol.

Idk, I didn't find Raspatil difficult at all. It's definitely a longer than usual fight, though, so there's that. I was getting a little worried near the end when most of my party could only have 50% of its HP max

Also, I must be really damn lucky or something, because I see a lot of people complaining about slots here, while I got the Serendipitious trophy and the lucky coin in about 15 minutes of slots when I went for it...

Am I the only thinking that all the side-stuff in this game is pure crap? While I enjoyed the main story, I must say all the rest is really cheap and forced. From this point of view, I thought XIII's hunts were alot better than the whole extras this XIII-2 has. My problem with this game, and the reason why overall I rate it as an inferior game compared to the last one, is that everything is cheap, rushed, unpolished and not-well thought. The story, I like it. Gameplay? XIII was far better from every point of view, even the area maps were at least thought out visually instead of some random blocks creating a path. I know, it's just one year and half but... it's still a main Final Fantasy, I'm not used to this yet. This game is not better than XIII.

Wait, i'm only 10 hours into the game but i hear that the ending
will be coming later in DLC
?

The ending is present in the game. What will come next, we don't know. Considering the scope, probably a XIII-3 is an easier chance than some DLC.

Yeah, I agree. I still love XIII-2, but XIII was indeed better.

How come it wont let me do the paradox ending

Yeah. You shouldn't skip the conversations after
giving the 5 graviton cores
.

Can someone help me with the Chaos Crystal?
I gave it to Hope but he is not giving back any weapon to me, what I have to do?>.<'
thx

So I left the slots on last night to try for the Serendipitous trophy and the slot fragment and I went to bed with 18,000 coins.

I wake up with 0 coins, but I got the fragment. That's good. Unfortunately, I didn't make a separate save, so I was down 18,000 coins.

Amazingly, I played two careers of Chocobo Racing this morning and after making a total of 12,000 coins, the trophy popped! I was under the assumption that I'd have to make back the coins I lost in the slots before anything applied to the trophy (I was about to just go back to a previous save and auto slots hoping for the trophy), but I guess I didn't have to do that!

This is the first game I really want to platinum. :)

Coming from someone that has 0 platinums, but very close to getting my first 1, just tells you just how easy it is to platinum. :p

Thanks for the Chaos Crystal. One more tip please:
I miss you fragment in Breasha Ruins 300AF, the first on the list. I really don't understand what I have to do, presumably it's connected to that guy standing in front of Atlas' button saying to not touch it; and I can't infact touch it! HELP!

The reason I think the ending is terrible is
first off, the story itself was already garbage. Second, the ending offers ZERO resolution for any of the characters, and now people who want to see a 'true' ending will be having to buy $15-$20 story DLC because SE doesn't know what they're doing.

I'm stuck if anyone can help me please.

I finished the section where you meet hope in the alternate time line. After that I went to The Void and a Casino place but they're both sealed off. Where am I supposed to go to next?

Oh they know what they are doing.

Look at how many people in this thread will buy it day one.

People will lap up anything SE discharges and that's a damn shame, but we have to deal with it.
