FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 |OT| Change the Future

firehawk12

Subete no aware
Ugh. I missed the
seals at the Void
. Is there anyway to get back there?

I tried to redo the Sunleth Waterscope 300AF timeline by sealing the game, but when I have to go to
The Archylte Steppe
, the gate is sealed and I can't go in to complete the rest of the quest -
which is to depower the giant Flan
- what am I supposed to do? Or have I lost those seals forever?

Edit: Got it. Wow, that was silly.

There's no way everyone in this thread is so unlucky.... I got that damn fragment in 15 minutes. Maybe it's bceause you're all using auto play

I'll give it 30 minutes tomorrow without auto play. Did you just mash the face buttons to do it as fast as possible? What was the machine's mood when you did it?

How much of XIII's story do I need to know to understand XIII-2? I still never had time to finish XIII, but I need to play through XIII-2 relatively quickly. :/

There's a handy dandy XIII recap on the title screen of XIII-2. Goes through pretty much the entire plot of XIII.

Okay, this lucky coin fragment is pissing me off. 5 hours and nothing.
How many coins did you end up starting with? I ended up going in with 21K coins the second time I tried (first time was 15K), but the 21K probably increased the odds since there were more chances for the Victory Mode to occur.

I had a FFXIII save too, so that item that makes winning at the casino easier did nothing for me.

It spoils the ending for you, but there's a beginner's primer right when you start up the game.

10k and then 5k. I have plenty of gil so I'll start with 30k tomorrow. grrrr, SLOT MACHINE IS TOUGHEST BOSS IN 13-2.

Don't understand the scores for this at all. I liked XIII, though was disappointed in the linearity and lack of side stuff, so this is just brilliant!

Oh and is there anywhere to farm Potent Silvers? I need to train up my Green Chocobo! Looks a lot better than any other MED I've found.

It should start you off in the Crux, but when you pick that gate it should put you where you left off.

I maxed out the last roles for my characters yesterday and now uh...I kinda miss levelling up. :lol

I also made four delicate power wristbands or whatever they are called and now have 5% Vampiric Strike. Given my Noel has 1100+ attack, he's ridiculously overpowered now. Shit's crazy.

I saw two more paradox endings yesterday as well, more notably the comedy one. Madness.

By the way, I have a fully levelled Golden Chocobo with A stats on both stamina and the other stat but yet I'm getting destroyed in the more advanced races? How can I totally dominate the competition, no matter the rank?

Think I might have had my fill of this game. Fucking quiz machines pushed me over the edge. Completely inane questions? Fine, I'll just use a guide. Oh, there are completely randomized answers in some of them? How quaint.

How much more of the game is there? Oh, and the
Bestiary
fragment made me lose all interest in collecting all of them. Do you just need to
fight each monster once, or use Libra on them? Cause, if it includes Libra... fuck that.

Once.

Are you referring to the questions like red or black, etc.? If so, they're not random. There are actual answers for them. The left/right question however, that's always wrong from mine and others' experiences.

But yes, fuck the quiz fragments. I have no desire to look for Captain Cryptic cos I go to each spot marked on the map where he's supposed to be and he's not there.

All the Academia areas are fucking dreadful. They are nice areas design-wise but in terms of content? Worst gaming areas I've been to for as long as I can remember. Especially 400 AF which crashes my console.

Anyone else find the orbs and the sounds that accompany them when "talking" in Yaschas Massif AF 100 REALLY creepy?

Yes, those... laments are really creepy, they reminded me of FFIX. Also the orbs' shape and how they just float there reminded me of this part in T3B:
6gpJl.png
.
More similarities between T3B and FFXIII-2!
Speaking of T3B, I thought Zenobia and its weird tentacle thingies looked a lot like twisted.
The tentacles in particular reminded me of T3B's final boss.

Can somebody tell me how you beat Lighning and Amodar? I can kick her sorry ass and get her HP to 1/3 at wich she starts spamming Curajas until she is 2/3+ again, that is some serious bullshit, the same with Amodar, I could fight them forever...

I have the following build:

Serah:
Com->99
Med->99
Rav->60

Noel:
Rav->99
Syn->99
Sen->60

Green Chocobo and Orion as Com.

Next thing I was going to try is to level up a Sab Monster to put some Status on her, but she could just spam esuna and Curaja, ugh...

So the new PS3 SONY sent me today is FAULTY, THE DISC DOES NOT GO IN!

They are replacing it again (free this time of course)

No more FFXIII-2 for another week

I'm not sure why my luck is so bad, first PS3 dies while playing XIII-2, then new PS3 that gets sent is faulty...what can happen next? The XIII-2 disc itself breaks?

*cries himself to sleep*

At those levels the battle is going to take you over 20 minutes to complete. Their feral ability is also going to one shot you every time they do it. Level up some more and then try it again.

I don't mind spending time doing the battle, but it is stupid the just spam the strongest cure magic when I'm kicking their butts.

You should be winning the fight then... How are you going about engaging the fight?

COM/COM/COM to start
RAV/RAV/RAV to try and stagger as quickly as possibly...switching to my MED paradigms when I need to heal or SEN when he swipes. I'm usually in pretty good shape until I get him down to about 50% life.

My problem is that he keeps using attacks or debuffs that Wound me and lower my max HP. This is to the point where I end up only having 200-300HP with a full life bar and then he destroys me with Landshatter.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
uuhhh, why do you say that, its been pretty easy so far, except for the
proto falcie
, that bastard took me a while.

That boss is easy actually. :p Noel's strength is COM whereas Serah is RAV. You did it the way around.

Yeah, I wanted Serah to be Com and Noel to be Rav, I don't like Noel and wanted Serah to be a Com Leader, like Lightning in FFXIII.

Everybody is saying the game practically plays itself, that is not the case, I imagine having a guide OR reading the thread full of tips and people who 100% the game already, helps a lot, but I'm not doing that, so yeah...

They don't learn the same abilities, Noel learns Blizzaga but Serah doesn't, for example, and in general Serah learns abilities that make her more useful as a RAV, while Noel has the same as COM.
I meant why does he want 'his' character to have one role over another? I'm not saying he's wrong to do so, I'm just wondering.

What difference does it make?

That I have to see Noel's hideous design only when fighting, not that Serah's is the epitome of art, but at least hers don't make my eyes bleed.

Civilized response:

A question of taste, I like Serah's Design better when I'm exploring.

Edit: Oh, you meant the abilities, there's magic that is exclusive to each character, even if they are the same role, I think, anyway I didn't do it because of that, I just wanted Serah to be a Com and Noel to be Rav and support me with buffs as a Syn, or protect her with Sen, wich is what I'm upgrading right now.

Never mind, I'm just not explaining it correctly. That's cool.

EDIT: Oh, cool.

Personally, while I disliked Serah's design less than Noel's, I hated her running animation, seriously embarrassing stuff. I had to have Noel take the lead.

Yeah, I can do with her running animation but can't with Noel's pants, besides he reminds me too much of Sora from Kingdom Hearts and that irks me too, I like the character, but not the design.

It's slightly more complicated than that. If I'm not mistaken :

RAV : Both Serah and Noel will learn the spells up to -ara (if I'm correct - I'm playing the French version, I'm not familiar with the terminology of the English one), and all the -impact. However, only Serah will be able to cast Thundaga and Firaga, whereas Noel will be able to cast Aeroga and Blizzaga. Both learn the same passive abilities, but not at the same time.
Serah will learn the spells quicker than Noel, who is stuck with Blizzard/Aero/Ice-impact/Aero-impact for a while.

COM : I "think" they learn the same abilities, but once again not at the same time. Also, Serah will unlock Ruin² quicker than Noel, and being more Magic-oriented she will be a better COM than him when it comes to inflict magic damages.

SOI : Noel is a better healer than Serah, learning all the spells (including the group ones), whereas Serah can't. However, healing is influenced by the Magic stat, so Serah is a better single-target healer than Noel. However, Noel can heal the whole party, so in the end Serah tends to lag behind. To be honest, they aren't that great as healers

TAC (Tacticien ; Synergist) : Same as above. Noel > Serah, by far.

DEF : Both will learn usefull abilities. However, Noel can't learn Steel Guard, whereas Serah can (as odd as this seems).

SAB (Saboteur ; Jammer in english I think) : Serah is better than Noel, period.

So, to sum up all this :
- Serah's "main" jobs : COM (Magical), RAV (Better than Noel early on), SAB
- Noel's "main" jobs : COM (Physical), RAV, SOI, TAC
Both are decent Defenders.

I seriously don't see the big deal with Noel's pants.

this made me laugh more that it should have.

It seems I'm doing everything wrong, I made the Green Chocobo my main Medic and Serah is a backup, she's Med Lv 99 and I think I unlocked her Sab Role Yesterday, not sure tho.

What is a Good Sab monster? and I need one that can learn Hastega too :-/
