Agreed. And then on PS3 with 560p you have a lot of shit on screen that makes navigating the world is a bit of a pain in the ass.
 
Which server is the majority of GAF/GAF LS on? (assuming this exists)

Sorry if this was answered somewhere within the previous 30 pages...

I noticed this right away. This is my only real complaint, at the moment.

Having a great map in an MMO is extremely important, considering how much stuff there is to do/see/keep track of. I'm finding the map in FFXIV to work some of the times, when you try to see information on areas other than the one you're in it becomes to be a headache. Sometimes the quests don't even show up despite being in the same area.

If they fix this, I'll have literally nothing to complain about. The game is extremely optimised, has beautiful music, and an interesting world to explore. I look forward to spending a lot of time with this one.
 
Can someone post that list that had all the special classes? I don't know the name of it but it said stuff like Black Mage lvl15 + Gladiator lvl15 = ???

If someone knows what I'm talking about could you post that? I want to see the combinations.

From here:

Paladin, requires Gladiator level 30 and Conjurer level 15. Can use Marauder and Conjurer abilities.
Dragoon, requires Lancer level 30 and Pugilist level 15. Can use Pugilist and Archer abilities.
Monk, requires Pugilist level 30 and Lancer level 15. Can use Lancer and Archer abilities.
Bard, requires Archer level 30 and Conjurer level 15. Can use Conjurer and Thaumaturge abilities.
Warrior, requires Marauder level 30 and Gladiator level 15. Can use Gladiator and Pugilist abilities.
White Mage, requires Conjurer level 30 and Gladiator level 15. Can use Gladiator and Pugilist abilities.
Black Mage, requires Thaumaturge level 30 and Pugilist level 15. Can use Pugilist and Archer abilities.
Summoner, an upcoming job of A Realm Reborn, will be available to Arcanists.

The PSN client download is pretty slow, but it seems much faster inside the client.

I'm not liking this...the game looks like a solo fest for most of the time, partys aren't encouraged at all...just do some quests, spam your best skills over and over and that's it. And since you get 1.000tp from the beginning and you are spamming them, the skills lose all value. It's not like in FFXI, where getting your 100tp and unleashing your weaponskill (even better, skillchaining with someone else!) was fucking satysfing.

I'll keep an eye out for Beta 4, but this doesn't seem for me at all. Solo options are great and I welcome them, but with MMOs I'm looking for a social experience.

Funnily enough, the fact that you couldn't solo in FFXI is what made me hate it. It was impossible to get anything done if you were DPS. Waiting upwards of 3 hours just for a group so you could level was a nightmare. So glad they're not trying to duplicate FFXI.
 
So my friend is using the American code for FF XIV and now he is about to link his Square Enix account to his PSN. But should it be linked to his American account? He wants to play FF XIV from his EU PSN account.

Speed test on my laptop says 32Mbps. My PS3's internet test says 12Mbps and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta says 0.55MB/s... I don`t know what`s wrong...

Edit: I`m in the client btw, downloading the 4.8GB file.

Geez that sucks, the only thing my gladiator can turn into is a paladin or a white mage. I definitely don't want to be a healer since from playing this game I found out how hard it is to heal with a controller. Paladin seems to be a tank but I'm not sure how that will play for me. Oh well, guess I'll go for Paladin then or either go for summoner with my mage.
 
Or can't he just connect his Square account to his American PSN, install the game from there and then just play FF XIV with his EU PSN account?

But the link between the PSN and Square accounts are permanent.
 
Am I the only one that thinks this feels way more like WoW or GW than FFXI? I probably won't play it longer than a month when it comes out and I had like 400 days played on FFXI, this just feels like a generic American MMO now :[

Correct. Next weekend Legacy GAF will depart for Sargatanas. It's up to new players on who they want to play with.

On one hand. A fresh brand new experience alongside with others inexperienced.

On the other hand, play with those that are experienced with a very consistent tight knit community that's survived 1.x. We can make things for you and even give a helping hand.

Well you can always just change class and go for a job thats more appealing.

FF11 is still a game that exists, that you can play. If that's the game you want, go for it!
 
So I guess Limsa Lominsa is overrun with Marauders since that is the only job for that area?

Makes me think Arcanist will be there which would be cool.

Square Enix should worship this team for turning this game around as much as they have...

Its like a AAA MMO now.

I need a PC-key, I guess. Playing this on the PS3 and looking at these screens. The PS3-version looks like an upscaled PS2 game. And then FFXII still looked better since it didn't have the massive fps drops.

I'm having fun and it looks like I might be getting it when it's released. Not for the PS3 though.
 
If anyone has a Ps3 code they have and don't need it I'll gladly take it off their hands so my brother can play with me, thanks :)

Beta will end a few days before the final release, but keep in mind it is divided in phases. Right now we are in phase 3, and all characters created during it will not carry over to phase 4 (the last one before full release). That said, characters created during phase 4 will carry over.
 
Is there a way to move/resize the chat window on PS3? Trying to set things up to look more like FFXI.

If there's one gripe I have it's that communication is kind of clunky.

It is scheduled to be an open beta, as far as I know. Pre-order people will get in during the period between the end of phase 4 and the official release. As for when it starts, no one knows, but it should be in a few weeks.
