Anyone have a super slow speed downloading the patch for the beta? I am getting like .21 mb/s and it says it will take like 600 minutes. WTH

Invited everyone I could. If you didn't get an invite, I couldn't find you in the player search - You have to be online to appear in the search and for me to invite. If you want, you can send me a moogle mail message and I'll try when I get back online.

Off to bed now but I'll be on around 11 AM EST on Saturday and will be on most of the day. You can also try sending a /tell to any of the users listed in the OP. Otherwise /tell Kuro Murakami sometime tomorrow.

Also why on earth can I help kill mobs of other players that are fighting them and get XP?
So weird, it wasn't even a Fate Event

To promote cooperation over competition. The person who attacks the mob first will always get credit for it, but anyone else that does enough damage can get credit as well.

(Actually, it's possibly based off of enmity like FATE contribution is, but damage is usually a safe way to measure it).

Brain Pann on Ultros...

Is anyone else having issues with Fate Events? It seems like everytime one pops up, I get kicked outta the game.

Anyway, its been a lot of fun. Don't know why, but I have been eyeing FF14 for a while now and was glad to try out the beta. I think I am gonna get it when in comes out. It will be the first MMO ive played since the original Phantasy Star Online for DC.

Anyone else having trouble getting a PS3 controller to work on the PC version? I'm using Motion in Joy and it's working fine in every other game (including FFXI) except FFXIV.

Worked fine in Phase 2. It's just not registering anything when I push the left analog up during configuration. It shakes when I enable Vibration so I know the client is at least recognizing the controller.

Great. I signed up, input my code, it's working, but now when I try to get on the forums to download the client it says my password or ID is incorrect...

I have a legacy account and I didn't even get in :(

You have to signup, if you did i'm not sure why you did not get a code.

If you were part of Phase 2 I think you can just login.

Wow this area is amazing looking and the music.

Very odd, no issues on my end with this same setup. You are using it under 360 emulation mode? perhaps a simple system restart?

My friend bought an original Collector's edition for FFXIV. Does he get this game for free, with a month free play?
Yes, and the glorious onion helm.

btw this may or may not be the case anymore but the friend guest pass in that edition was basically good for a full free copy of the game... :)

Oh my god! You can use the keyboard/mouse AND controller interchangeably in the PS3 version. Nice.

Though the default keybindings is a little funky. I can open the menu but I can't use the movement keys to go through the menus that way. Had to use the controller to do that. I'll have to read up on the controls later.

What is a linkshell for those of us that have never played an MMO before?

Okay so i have preordered the PHYSICAL limited edition for PC. Square just sent me a Serial Number ,and a download file for the bonuses. Can someone confirm that i didn't get the digital edition? I payed around $81, and they already toke it out, usually companies won't take the money till it's shipped. Amaright?

Played it for about two hours before work. Never played FFXI or XIV. In fact, other than Guild Wars I'm not really an MMO player, but I'm really digging this! PS3 version looks and runs at a level that's great for me so I'm happy. I'm just really into the world already, and I'd chock that up to great atmosphere. The art, the city design, and dat music. DAT MUSIC. I'm free tomorrow so I'm going to play a bunch!

Anyone happen to have a spare key? I was a long time FFXI player but never tried the original XIV due to the reception it got and this looks significantly better. PC or PS3 works, PM me if you have one. Thanks.

Found SGSSAA compatibility bit 0x00401045 thanks to google. More specifically here. Going to also try 0x004012C5 as he said it's better on performance.

Kill jaggies...and my framerate. I get 30ish FPS in the desert city with seemingly very few players around at x4 SGSSAA. Drops to about 15ish or lower with x8. I'm on a GTX 670 with an i5 3570k. For fun here's a screenshot at x8.

I reached level 10 in the Ultros Server, I'm playing a Conjurer... it's really fun so far! I really like how you just learn spells and the NO LOOT!

add me if you want, Mauricio Magus

Level 11 Lancer, Level 6 Leatherworker today. Really had a lot of fun...the only things I remember from my ill-fated two months of 1.0 was the geography of Gridania and the basics of the crafting system.

The UI is godly, fast, responsive, beautiful.

Questions:

1) What does the "all" and "others" mean, words that appear above your HP bar?
2) Why do enemy names frequently have letters next to them? I've seen J, L, Q, Z, and a few others.
3) Are Limit Breaks possible? How do they work?
4) When do you get companions?
5) Why the hell is TP even a thing? Every ability uses so little that is has literally never been an issue. A massive problem, if you ask me, spamming abilities that all have the same 2.5 second cooldown is lame. Does this ever get more interesting?
6) How do you get "jobs"? What's the difference? Edit: Never mind, found this on the previous page
7) What's the difference between a linkshell and a free company?

I got in to the PC beta and I just signed up last week lol. Only played about 30 mins but I can say the game is stunning and runs smooth maxed out on my 680gtx. Need more time with it before I make a decision whether or not to preorder it.

Can someone who's played both FF14 and Realm Reborn tell me how different they are from each other? I just want to know because I want this game to succeed.

Playing on the PS3 controller was pretty fun surprisingly. I may stick with it, I just hope they give us the option so we don't have to hold onto R2 to use skills and stuff.

Played up to level 14. Game has really improved since Alpha, can't wait till the final version is out. It's also so nice to play a zone other than Gridania. Best improvement has to go to boob physics though. I do wish the graphics were better, and the AA doesn't seem to work so have to force it, but still pretty fun so far, and feels very Final Fantasy-like. I like the fact that it isn't just a straight up WoW clone like so many MMOs and that they seem to be trying to do their own thing.

So far so good, played a conjurer for a bit, it's a bit like a quicker ffxi with a mix of WoW quests, which surprisingly isn't so bad.

Only lvl6 though.

Graphics are ok on ps3, it just doesn't look sharp for some reason for a 720p game, framerate is what I'm expecting which is sub 30, but it's much better than playing the release on my poop computer at 640x480 that kept crashing :P

Wow, this is way more fun than I could have expected. The addition of public quests (like in Rift and GW2) really was a smart addition as it breaks up the monotony of questing.

The combat is reasonably fast-paced, if entirely conventional and devoid of any innovations. All skills sharing one cooldown prevents you from spamming them but the cooldown is at least only 2.5 seconds so fights are never interminably long. Trash mobs die fast, and so solo questing goes pretty smoothly.

I'm looking forward to my first dungeon, whenever that is.

Technically, the game is much better than the old client. My GTX 680 is basically locked at 60 fps at all time in 1080p res with all settings maxed out. AA doesn't work yet though, so we'll see what happens when AA is enabled for the client.

A big and pleasant surprise is the music. Most of the old zones have been entirely replaced, and so has their music. The new music is amazing though, and it's pretty cool that during the intro sequences for your new character, the old classic town music briefly plays in homage to the original game.

The UI is sleek and streamlined now, a far cry from the awful self-mutilating-to-use UI of the original game. Everything works smoothly and the entire UI has been given a distinctly FFXII appearance, which is apparently because the UI designer for FFXII also is on ARR's design team.

PS3 version runs in 576p and is upscaled to 720p.

Cant wait to see what the Magitek Train looks like. Its also interesting that its a common thing now. Its also interesting that its a common thing now. Also its crazy much being able to actually look off a cliff, see people fighting in the distance, then jump off said cliff to help, adds to the overall experience.

In so excited. I got into the ps3 xiv beta. Will download when I get my ps3 back aster my last exam Monday! Shame I can't pay it when releases, can't pay subscription fees and all.

Hello if anyone can invite me (Vlodril Stormbringer) i would apreciate it.

As i was saying to a friend the game is really addicting at the moment. Not sure why since the combat and the quests (most of them) are basic as it goes. Great music and art though.

Also this has to be the most bug free beta i have ever played. Ridiculous :P

Actually, considering the fact I won't be able to play it when it releases, I've made a quick decision to give my key to someone else, as a trade for something on steam. Would DayZ standalone/Arms II for the mod be too much? If so then an a cheap game will do, pm me with offers!

Depending on what class you are playing doing some of the stuff solo feels like an actual challenge :P

I'm really hoping the fact this game is available on PS3 does not mean its going to be held back across all platforms by the technical limitations of the PS3 in the future. Game is pretty good so far.
