Hunt grinding is more work than FCoB? Zuh? If you can find a hunt party there is zero work involved. Unless teleporting and taking part in killing the hunt sounds like more work than FCoB.

Assuming you get 15 of the 17 A Ranks per cycle, that's still 20 hours of hunts assuming every single one of them spawns 4 hours on the dot from the last one.

So one twine is, what, four A trains?

That seems considerably easier and more casual than bennu.

Around 4.5.

I think if you get one full A-train per day, you can get one oil and one twine a week.

So from a few pages back... CT focus quest? Having to run LotA?

I have a sudden urge to run LotA on my tank (which I've not done yet since I haven't run LotA since before ST) and tank Bone Dragon in the middle for the lulz.

Still I'm not complaining, it gives people a reason to run the older 24-man content even with WoD being out.

I remember transferring to Ultros from another server a long time ago and this baffled me initially. Came from Siren and everyone knew Bone went middle, came to Ultros and saw some tank carrying him to the far north, weird. Honestly, still think not tanking him in the middle creates more of a clusterfuck than anything lol.

The sheer volume of A ranks needed to be slain per day is way more and requires much more time and dedication than clearing a single turn of Final Coil. Sure. One hunt is easy. 75? Uh huh.

My guess is that hunts will either be dead from the start because the grind to reward ratio is gonna blow, or that hunts will die off pretty quick because of that exact reason.

I doubt that, the grind for relic is insane and lots of people still did that.

If anything making it this hard to get Carboncoat and Carbontwine will drive everyone completely insane with constant hunting. I guess if their goal was to make hunts last the next 4 months until the expansion they could scarcely have done better than this.

Hunting will be competitive again. Which means needing to run around zones looking for A ranks as they pop so your party can get there first. The amount of work scouting (unless your party doesn't care about you just waiting for the announcement) over that huge of a grind is insane.

I dunno, unless everything gets pulled immediately, the process of someone in a LS announcing a location -> party teleporting -> kill hunt isn't that much work. It's boring and time consuming, I guess.

Well I guess it's just semantics. I feel like I have to be more "determined" to lean boss mechanics than I do to teleport around and kill hunts. It's more time consuming and boring though, for sure.

It is worth noting that if you do your hunt dailies every day and get one A-train and one S per day on average you get ~2000 Allied Seals per day!

!

Depends on how organized / friendly your server is, I guess. We tend to have a lot of unreported hunts at times and it'll probably be worse now with people wanting to make sure they get their credit.

I only have like 2 months of experience so maybe Qvoth or someone can comment on how shitty Tonberry hunting gets, but I haven't seen anything that makes them seem as "toxic" as people here make them out to be. The occasional early pull but shouting to ask if anyone is running still happens at most hunts.

We should go get our wedding ring teleports.

I thought we were waiting on buttwings but whatever. Let's get married for hunts.

75 A ranks needed. 4.5 A trains assuming you get full credit and make it to each one. Which won't happen when it's going to be super competitive.

So one A train a day for a week, assuming you get 0 log drops and go to no S ranks. Not 2.3 insanity, but still not exactly a mammoth task.

The sheer volume of A ranks needed to be slain per day is way more and requires much more time and dedication than clearing a single turn of Final Coil. Sure. One hunt is easy. 75? Uh huh.

Not just any single coil turn. Be fair--how long were you guys on 12? It's work!

Eight people killing 75 A ranks nets 8 twines.

Those 8 people need to kill 12 for two months or 12 and 13 for a month to get that much twine. Hunting is way easier and more accessible. They just also made it grindier.

You say that now, but I would rather spend two hours learning a boss fight's mechanics than spend it sitting on the back of my chocobo afking waiting for monsters to spawn for me to zerg for a pittance.

It boils down to something pretty simple, I feel: How little do you value your time?

I'd rather put in the work on T12 or T13 than put in the work zerging 75 monsters for one twine. Eight people killing 75 turn 12's nets 75 twines. Hunts are a nice supplement to raiding, sure, but people using hunts and hunt rewards instead of trying to clear the content to get pieces to get gear that they simply don't need/won't use/will use on Bard coats is just baffling to me. Then again, my mindset is very much obviously that of a raider.

Be fair yourself: Can't you just picture that moment when you finally kill that 75th A rank and finally use that Carbontwine on your belt? Time well spent.

I hope to see people walking down bronze lake with their minions and other dumb shit non-stop now, though.

Such as having Frontlines award Allied Seals. At least PvP is more involved than Hunts. Aside from maybe Mahisha, Hunts is not challenging content.

Such a missed opportunity here.

I would get behind FL awarding allied seals.

Hunt dailies though...only bothered doing those like once or twice and then I stopped caring after the second day or so.

75 T12s with full rewards is literally impossible to do while it's still relevant. Lockout strictly limits the return on investment.

I'm not promoting hunts over raiding, just saying it's either incredibly disingenuous or incredibly blind to toss it off as 'just' one coil turns vs a big long grind since there is considerably more involved in hitting the twine loot phase in coil than just joining a hunt party for an A train once a day for a week. There are a ton of reasons people will end up going the hunt route, and ease of access is important.

I'll lose interest after the first twine anyway. I just want one.

Well, killing T12 does drop the group 2 "twined up" slots a week, in addition to the actual twine.

It's a 750+ poetics value!

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
Now, you might have noticed that I didn't include a Thunder I or Blizzard I up there. Ah! You have a good eye! No, that was not a mistake it was a very conscious decision on my behalf. Let me explain.
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. NO EXCUSES
/s
The important thing, as a BLM, is to never not be doing something. Always be active. If you've just re-applied your Thunder but have to move for a particular reason before casting Fire III - Scathe instead of Blizzard I while doing so. If you've used your Firestarter/Thundercloud proc and are waiting for the GCD to be up so you can resume your rotation, use an ability off the GCD if you need to [Sprint/Manawall/Manaward/Surecast/etc.]. Just be busy! Also, try to get used to using Aetherial Manipulation. It can be invaluable in a lot of the encounters.
This is probably one of the most important parts. Learning to deal with movement is key (and I still suck at it).

I keep telling you: Nobody cares about DRG loot.

seriously though--I'm not trying to argue hunts > raiding in general, just that in a lot of situations it makes more sense for specific people.

I know. I just wanted to be in the conversation.

From the crafting point of view the turn-ins for the Lucis tools seem a bit on the easy side. I really hope that items like HQ Patent Leather are sellable as are the new GC / Allied Seals mats like Lumpback Linseed Oil. 20x Moonstone = 80K GC Seals + 1,800 x 20 = 36,000. So one tool will take 116K GC seals... 8 tools = 928K GC Seals, I generated 1.4 million in 8 days bringing my new FC to Rank 8 and that was a side project.

Have to agree with this but we have different mindsets I guess.
Feeling of accomplishment is important to me and I never found any any of that in just spending a shitload of time on something trivial while watching a movie on my second screen.

Oh ok thanks. I only played the beta on PS3 a last year and I'm not to do into MMOs so I just didn't want to get to overwhelmed off the rip. Any starting guides you guys would suggest. And I'm assuming that Ultros is still the GAF server so I'll be jumping on there after it installs. I hear it's inviting enough which will ease my nervousness.

Probably 14 for me, I hate everything. Going to try and fail to avoid twitch streams all day.

We'll get bored of WoD and new DR EX soon enough though, no worries. I'm mostly hyped about the Nexus light bump. Might finally get that over with.
