Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood |OT| Y'all Need to Calm Down

how is that even possible

How? Even jumpers that do nothing but auto attack should get at least 300ish DPS

Usually right before servers come up

I examined them, saw they were wearing 210~260ish on the left side, looked at the right...110~150ish. Didn't add up, didn't explain anything. Their HP was at 6k. I didn't noticed until the boss when the healer spoke up and asked why their HP was so low.

"I have no idea."
They died from any AOE damage. Raised repeatedly. Finally they figured it out.

Broken gear. all of it.
And they couldn't repair it.

So we carried on. Except the healer would not DPS at all. KNOWING that our SAM had busted gear and was contributing no DPS, they just stood there waiting for heals. So it was me and the PLD duoing the entire dungeon basically.

I asked the healer if they could please use their DPS abilities to help out, nada. Silence and standing around waiting for the tanks hp to drop. Dungeon took way longer than it should have.

I'm more upset by the SAM doing pitiful damage and not even noticing how low their numbers were.

This has stirred up the thought to me...why the FUCK do we have durability on gear? It doesn't even warn you if you're going into a dungeon that your gear is broken/low.

So I grumbled, commed NO ONE and left quickly. Queued into leveling and got Gubal...with an SCH who did not seem to understand the concept of the first boss...

And so now you know why I want to walk into traffic.

I would have bounced at finding out the gear situation and taken the 30 minutes to play Switch lol

People on reddit seemed not to believe me that most groups don't wait for DPS to watch cutscenes in levelling dungeons. Is it just me? I've gotten locked out of EVERY SINGLE END BOSS while levelling if the cutscene is longer than the lockout period (15 seconds?), even when I said I was watching cutscenes at the start of the run. Got kicked from group once when they wiped too, was my favorite.

DPS Queue + Dungeon took 23~ minutes vs a 30 min lockout + the time already wasted/invested. Would have been waiting an hour to get back into a dungeon. Second one we booted the healer and replaced with an FC member in prog. Less time, more stress. Also a morbid curiosity at why some healers simply refuse to do damage. It's like watching a dumpster fire. You're wondering if something in there is gonna explode.

Ah, I'm too used to my tank privilege. I'm guessing you're not on Ultros with GAF?

There's a couple dungeons that have a not-short but not-long cutscene before the final boss that people forget about (Toto-Rak and Stone Vigil) and then the two infamous level 50 story dungeons at the end of ARR that people often suggest you find a group of friends to run it with unsynced. (It doesn't hamper the experience at all and take about the same amount of time on fights regardless)

Past the end of ARRI don't think any of the dungeons have lengthy cutscenes in them and instead have them after finishing the dungeon.

For the 4-man dungeons, it makes the fight longer to miss a DPS...unless they're terribad.

Try doing the last 2 ARR dungeons. Theres a cutscene every 30 seconds and no one is waiting for you in DF even if both your heals don't make it to the boss in time lol. They'll still blame them when they die though.

Boss lockouts will happen every so often because some people like dungeons to go as fluidly as possible because muh stacks and minimise downtime between fights by pulling the next mob (or yes, the next boss) while the previous isn't finished with yet. If someone is new, or hasn't set viewed cutscenes to auto-skip, well...

ARF (Heavensward final dungeon) has longer-than-usual cutscenes before and during the end boss fight that can lead to lock-out issues. The boss
is the same as the person in the Totorak and Stone Vigil cutscenes
, just happens to love gloating rather than simply roar-and-screen-woosh.

Slowly trying to get to HW content on my Samurai, but holy hell it's a slog. It's quest after quest after quest. How long does it take to get to Ishgard?

I dunno I'm levelling my Pal along with my Blm (blm to take advantage of MSQ XP, Pal to take advantage of quick daily roulettes) and when I'm tanking runs I just, I dunno, wait 2 seconds to pull to confirm everyone is past the purple line for bosses, and wait if they arent/have the cutscene icon. Seems like such a waste to lock out 50% of my DPS and you have to be literally retarded to not see it coming if they have the cutscene icon over their head. But every dungeon I do as BLM I get locked out, I don't understand it. Even dungeons with faster cutscenes I risk being locked out by standing at range, so I've resorted to doing the last trash pack in melee range and triggering the cutscene myself so I'm in the arena after the scene.

Just such a stupid self defeating practice that seems shockingly common.

Finally had my first wipe in Haukke Manor. Healer wouldn't heal and tried to be DPS. Every fight was just me tanking at 1/3 health for most of it. We caught one add at some point and that was ballgame. Surprised by how long my team luck held out. My dragoon is damn near 42 now. At low levels, people seem pretty solid at this game.

If they don't wait for the heal , then they don't need healing.

If they die once usually it's the reminder that they need to wait a little.

Though even if they can do it without you, it robs you a bit of the experience of the dungeon if you miss out on all the combat cause you're always watching cutscenes. The worst thing about ARR in my opinion is cutscenes in group content that are important to overall MSQ lore. If you want cutscenes and set pieces make them solo duties so that people can watch them at their leisure without either getting left behind or raged at for making others wait. I'm glad I hear it gets better in Heavensward/SB, though I heard something about MSQ roulette being shitty in SB for people who wanna watch?

End of HW spoilers:
The one in ARF has a cutscene before the boss fight yeah, but the second cutscene where they fuse has everyone encased in the can't leave ring.

Never seen this LB3 in-game, and probably never will lol
My static ended up using it during Sephirot EX, because Mage LB would blow up all the adds and almost assuredly kill the party, while with BRD/MCH LB you could easily catch one pair of the adds+Storm of Words and survive the adds blowing up plus the raid-wide damage coming out from Sephirot.

I don't remember there being any long cutscenes in party content in Stormblood. Believe it or not the only content in the MSQ Roulette is the stuff from ARR. They thankfully never made that mistake again.

People watching cutscenes doesn't bother me at all.

People letting the gear roll timer go all the way down when you could use the upgrade asap bothers me.

I'm guilty of this because I didn't realize until very recently that you could change gear mid dungeon.

First Susano EX practice party I was in, the tank suggested putting a marker in the hotbar for when you're jailed and it's been working pretty well for me

except for when the other dps ignore it anyway lol

The things that snag most people in the Susano EX parties I've been in are the triple Ukehi's, Thundercloud baiting, and Churning + Parting Seas.

Other than that, you just gotta play the electrical jump rope game with him lol.

The jail phase is actually a nice time to take a breather and heal up.

I do it out of courtesy but in a farm party it shouldn't be needed, it's always the rock on the bottom of the threat list

It's the last rock to get added, that's not always the 'bottom' of the threat list. It's mostly a thing when Susano is X and the rocks are Y,Z,A,B. B is technically second from the top but also the 'last' one and where the person is.

Most of my deaths in jails are people 'correcting' my marker to be last on the list and sending people off to kill something across the map while I'm just staring at my now unmarked rock contemplating my life choices.

While true, it's not like people are doing anything else when jailed though. Personally I'd just rather mark it even if it's with my static so there's no chance for confusion in the event Susano is X as mentioned above.

My static is long dead, and the one that I was going to join consisted of a monk and a paladin who refused to do mechanics, so I dropped.

Guess I'm skipping Savage.

Oh yeah, savage delta drops tonight huh.

Not really going to worry about it until I get the rest of my normal savage gear, but there will probably be some experimental parties rocking
