Best news on XV yet, IMO.
Yeah, now if they can just clean up that image quality.

Well the most important bit of this interview was that Tabata is a Red Bull drinker like me, yay.
I wrote this down while listening to the interview, it's pretty much just a messy dump with stuff we've already heard too.
But here you go in case someone doesn't want to watch the whole video.
They said 30 fps in the same way as Duscae 2.0. So, it's not the same as you guys might be thinking.
Still, them talking about console differences suggests a stronger focus on one platform over the other. I think we can guess which platform that might be.
The dragoon isn't a generic enemy anymore?
That was pretty evident based on the demo, no?
guess they saw how popular she got and made her a full character
Yeah, but I think they're going to really double down on that to get 30 fps on PS4. We actually saw an improvement on PS4 and that'll likely continue. Whereas the XBOX One version regressed in some ways.
I just don't like hearing 30 fps the same way as Duscae 2.0.
Read the interviews again. She was never said to be generic.
"The dragon knight character seen doing some wild acrobatics through the air towards the end of the trailer (around the 5:43 mark) is a character from the enemy side (she's not Stella, as Nomura said in past interviews). She's part of a special group of people within the enemy army, and uses unconventional armor that differs from the army's standard issue."
From Andriasang.
We just assumed that she was generic.

You can combo your attacks across character changes -- that is, you can keep your combo going when you switch the character you're currently controlling. As an example, you can make the scarfaced character do positional damage with his hammer, then switch to Ignis, or you can make the enemy shrink away in fear from Ignis's magic then call in another character to attack.
Luna is a strong willed, independent character who makes her own decisions
1080p is pretty much confirmed for PS4, right?
The latest screenshots they put out were 1080p but I'm not taking that as indicative of anything.
They looked upscaled or something.
you made me go back to andriasang and read old interview...

- There's lot of people asking for Episode Duscae 3.0 but we've moved on from that
- There are many reasons why Stella was changed to Luna. But the most important one was that she has a very different role in the story now and we needed a different character
Stella's character probably detracted too much from the male-centric story Tabata's going for (Regis is symbolized with the car, heh) and Luna's role is a lot easier to reign in
And falter it will. For all that the game is doing right, its frame-rate remains a real point of concern. The PS4 version at least sees some genuine signs of improvements across a run of play. On average, we're looking at a 2-3fps boost with version 2.0 - just enough of an improvement to bring a number of areas closer to hitting a stable 30fps. Frame-times are still rather inconsistent though, preventing the game from totally consistent fluidity, but the good news here is that there's clear progress here. Curiously, cut-scene performance remains identical to the original release.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-final-fantasy-15-episode-duscae-revisitedImage quality wise, changes are relatively minor. The same choice of resolution is in place - 1600x900 on PS4 and 1408x792 on Xbox One - and numerous other problems. The same "blurry yet jaggy" image quality remains in effect throughout, but on the bright side, texture filtering has at least received a small boost in specific areas. Even at 1600x900, some decent AA could conceivably clean up the PS4 version to a more respectable state but 792p on Xbox One is just too low - though with the performance problems here it seems like a boost might prove difficult.
and just like that, hype rising again
and also, can you guys chill out regarding luna? we haven't seen nearly enough to conclude that she is a weak character.
hell, we haven't seen much of anything, lets not freak out just yet![]()
I agree. All we really need now is a trailer where Luna holds a rapier and fight and show some serious facial expression and body language. That would calm the pants down of many here.Agreed. Like no one except well square literally knows who she is and what her motivations are. Just because she replaced stella doesn't automatically mean she's a weak character. Like we can all debate on who she is when the game's out. Speculating the hell out of her is so pointless.

I may be flogging a dead horse somewhat but they could always reveal that she is (i'm speculating ofc) the one who summons Leviathan and show the animation or whatever in a story trailer. It'd be kinda crazy epic.
We hope to bring Final Fantasy again to that point where people say it's a definitive experience, with both best story and presentation
The question was related to how the party interacts with each other, bantering etc.
Really not seeing that "defiance" thing, she just looks like a doll. What are you trying to say exactly?

According to the recent interviews and the reasoning behind the changes Luna seems to be exactly what everyone wanted Stella to be, who most likely would have actually turned out to be a not so independent and autonomous character over the course of Versus' whole story. Just because we saw Stella draw her rapier against Noctis for 2 seconds doesn't mean she did that of her own will and out of determination. Maybe she was ordered to and was merely a pawn of her father/antagonist.
I don't see why Tabata and his team would go to such lengths and replace a whole character if it wasn't for a good reason. In the end it only matters how Luna turns out, I don't care if they changed her name and look on the way. The redesigned Stella after the FFXV reboot (under Nomura!) looked terrible, anway.

From what i can tell from the duscae demo, they are doing a very good job. The first fight with the behemoth was astounding in terms of set piece presentation and gameplay. Really excellent. The question was related to how the party interacts with each other, bantering etc., and how the story seems to flow even outside obvious cutscenes (like the Behemoth scenes in Episode Duscae).
Tabata said that he thinks TLOU did this kind of thing well and wants to explore that kind of blending of storytelling and gameplay which he hasn't really seen much in RPG's.
So basically less traditional cutscenes that interrupt gameplay constantly, more control to the player even if stuff is happening around you.

Isn't she supposed to be something like 8 years old in that scene?
Though it is still a problem in the larger context of the game's marketing - for a character with supposed agency, they're doing anything but showing it.

It's not like she's lying there and taking the beating.
Referring to the "defiance in her eyes" thing. There's a pretty big difference between "defiance" and fear. Are you serious? She's like 9 years old when that happens, what did you expect? Her to get up and Mary Sue her way to victory?
She has a slight scowl which would be more noticable if it werent for her bangs.Referring to the "defiance in her eyes" thing.

His comment was based on things we've already seen. Probably leaning towards the newest trailer specifically. You're probably viewing the scene as some guard randomly burst into the room and started slapping her around.
She was probably in the process of doing something she shouldn't be for the greater good, which is where the defiance thing comes into play. Maybe she knew there was a chance she'd get stopped by a merciless adult but she was determined to do it regardless.
Creating a personality profile for Luna based on all the 10 seconds of footage we've seen of her is really some magic, I just don't know how you do it.
