So, I'm nearing the end, really nearing the end and I'm wondering this:

1. Can I replay story missions?
2. Is there New Game +?

I suspect that its no for both.

And some spoilery thoughts thrown in this post too:

I was underwhelmed when Noctis put on the ring. I expected at least a scene where he meets the ancient kigns of lucis and kinda gets some encouragement or something, since he is obviously worthy as he is the chosen by the crystal and all that, so no judgement is due, but a scene would have been awesome.

Also, the second half of the story kinda feels clamped, rushed, it goes by super fast and feels like they wanted to do and explain more but couldn't.

The chapter logs are just a collection of the "what has happened in the story thus far" plot summaries that show upon reloading a save, right? Maybe they included a bit of extra information, but I don't remember anything significant the few times I did bother to take a look at them.

It's been a long time since I played the game, but I remember I was wondering what had happened to a side character. After reading the log, I found that there were details that happened that weren't shown in the chapter. I think it had to do with Cid, or around that time.

Basically, most of the time you are right about them, from what I remember, but there were certainly details to the story that weren't explained except for in the datalogs, unless I somehow missed some details in the cutscenes.

Just to put things in perspective, I'm not a hater of the game, but I do feel the datalogs were a bad way to make the story fit together properly. It was an attempt to solve the issue of the game being linear, because usually you get a lot of information from side characters and exploring cities and places in the world, whereas in XIII you don't have that option.

Yes, you get the ability in one of early chapters.

OK, Only three more trophies to go! I'm level 62 and need to fight that level
99 boss
. The other two trophies are fishing skill (I hate fishing in this game) and locating two more royal arms.

Thanks for that. Im guessing it unlocks later for the story banter purposes of chapter 1?

First time I got the Regallia Noctis was allowed to drive the car manually.

Since then the option is grayed out and I cant get Noctis behind the wheel... what am I doing wrong?

It does tell you it's a level 50 quest though. Check your quest log.

Really? I'll check it later. Anyway I feel the right way to play this game is clearing the main quest first and than completing the sides and optional contents, so you don't need to worry about levels etc.

How does the magic works? I've seen before an item called magic flask and now it's gone, so I assume these are consumables I can acquire somewhere?

Do the level requirements for side quests you didn't do increase when you progress in the main quest ?

That would be cool so you could do them later and they still provide some challenge.

Is the Deluxe Edition DLC (Masamune, car recolour and suit for Noctis) live in the UK for PS4 yet?
I tried to redeem it last night and it said it was unavailable or had already been redeemed.
There's chances I put the code in wrong, but I'm just curious.

So are they ever going to release the retailer exclusive DLC for purchase?

I ordered the UCE from the S-E store when it came up for preorder, but I really want the Mage Mashers, but I was not willing to cancel my UCE for them.

Any idea what level i should be for end game? Kinda feeling a little underleved for the bs theyre throwing at me.

I've got a level 50 Noct, the rest of the gang are 46-49. I can handle most of it alright, but the boss monsters in Chapter 13 were pretty tough, mostly due to the way your Max HP can drop pretty quickly so you have to keep on top of that with Elixirs etc. I think that I'm roughly the average level for this part of the game though?

Can't do it, just can't do the english voice. I gave it a shot for about 10 minutes.

Also the panning of the camera on the high mode 4k, is really bad. Like seriously chuggy.

Only on Chapter 3 but I'm absolutely loving this game. Im assuming all the complaints of the story being unfinished come from people that didn't watch Kingsglaive because I could see that. But with said prior knowledge it's pretty good.

8 hours in and this is possibly one of the dorkiest games of all time. I love it.

The casual clothes add so much to the personalities of the characters and the feel of the game. Why aren't these the default outfits? Why?

Played an hour so far and really enjoying it, though the fact that I can't teleport to objects (towers, cliffs/rocks, etc) outside of battle annoys me.

I'm still in chapter 1 and one thing pissing me off is the way dungeons are handled. Like you enter the mine, you fight some stupid level 7 mobs and of course you think the dungeon can be done, of course the boss will be harder but it seems manageable. But no, you reach it and bam, your whole party dies in one hit because the boss is level 52 or something like that, doing 9999 of damage. This applies to some hunts too: you see the suggested level and the enemy you need to face, if an enemy is too strong there's the red sign, but often there isn't. Like those dark blob, I know from other FF they should be weak to magic, wasted all my spells on them, did almost nothing. Yeah, the damage were bigger compared to physical attacks, but still the fight, since I was level 9 and they were level 14, was long and tedious, because eventually spells will end.

Dunno, the whole openworld reminds me of MGSV, there's not so much to do, if not killing monsters and grabbing pointless items or ingredients. Exploration isn't rewarded because often it ends with your death and a game-over screen, so what you did is useless since you need to re-do it.

Check the levels for dungeons - they tell you flat out when you can go. It's possible to win at around half the level of the dungeon, but only if you are REAL good at parrying/dodging/iframes.

Any time you are getting steamrolled by enemies, you need to look at their weaknesses. Blobs/Flan are susceptible to magic - like terribly so. Throw some fire or even ice on them and watch them get merked. But if you are underleveled compared to the suggested hunt, why would you expect to win? Some enemies can be overcome by link attacks and abusing the magic system, but not all. Unless you are real good at the combat system, don't bother with the hunts that are above your level.

As for the open world, I think the reward is enough. You can kill monsters, fish, ride chocobos, take photo ops with your bros, engage in quests (that run a little generic, but the pay off in EXP and AP is usually worth the trouble), etc. You are rewarded for these things with AP and EXP, and all you need to do is camp. If you find yourself dying in battle a lot, I suggest either running from shit you don't need to fight (seriously, look at the levels my dude), learning the combat system, and not staying out at night. The payoff for exploration is like a boost in levels and lotsa good accessories depending on where you are at. I've found some great weapons early game just by taking a quick trip off the beaten path.

Items you grab are actually able to be sold for a LOT of coin, which will start becoming more necessary once you get car upgrade, and ingredients make for better food, which makes for bigger stat boosts (which you need, it seems, and there's nothing wrong with that!) - and, you guessed it, more AP once you have skill unlocked.

Noct, it's night. We should return to the last place we rested, otherwise we'll be attacked by demons. Let's leave the car here though, let's just magically fast travel back to the last place we camped.

Okay Noct it's morning, time to turn in that quest we finished last night. Sure, we can fast travel there. No, not straight there, from the car. We can't fast travel without the car, that would be silly. Let's fast travel to the car, because we didn't bring the car with us last time we fast traveled back to this camp, because it was night, and it'd be dangerous to travel at night.

Hey Noct we fast traveled to the car. Now we can fast travel to the quest area, in the car. The car comes with us if we do it in this order. Don't give me that look Noct this makes perfect sense we're in the car we're just skipping the drive to the place we can't fast travel to, in the car that we fast traveled to, from the resting area we fast traveled to from the car because it was night and it would be dangerous to drive at night.

We made it! Turn in that quest and collect all that sweet gil. Oh nice, there's some more quests here dude. Let's drive the car as close as we can to the quest area, take a nice scenic drive. The actual quest is kind of far away from the parking spot, but no big deal right. Oh no this quest is taking a while huh

hey noct it's getting dark we should return to the last place we rested or we'll be attacked by demons

I managed to kill enemies 7 or 8 levels higher than me in hunts, but it felt like a waste of time and the reward (exp) wasn't great as I expected (I mean, in theory like in older FFs, if your enemy is much stronger than you, you should receive much exp. Instead here doing a random quest like bringing a repair kit to a dude gives you 300 exp while doing an hunt with required level 14 give you half the exp). I'll stick with the plot for now, doing random sides if they are near me, and bothering with the rest when the main is over, it feels like the best way to handle the game.

Pitioss is an entirely new game, buried within another game called Final Fantasy XV.

Edit: IT IS DONE

PITIOSS IS DEFEATED

I think i'm going to have to spend a while around Hammerhead, I'm not clicking with the battle system yet. I'm having trouble locking on and warping, at the moment the battle system seems a bit chaotic. I think it's because there are multiple characters on screen, I didn't feel that playing the Witcher. I think I just need some practice.

I do have one actual gripe though, when you zoom in on the map it goes pixelated, I don't know how they let it look like that.

Considering you only get gil through selling useless loot and hunts (among other activities), it's well worth your time unless you feel like petering around the open world and picking up garbage.

If you want more exp and want to level up faster, stay at an inn before you head out. 1.5 adds up, alongside the fact that you can stock that shit up for a risk/reward thing.

Right now, you are doing a hunt for 300 exp and presumably nothing else.

What you should be doing is doing a hunt, taking care of a quest or two along the way, and killing a few things, reaching like 800 exp. Now stay at an inn with a bonus of 1.5.

That's 900 exp. for an outing, which can go quick if you plan it right and fast travel back to your car/resting point. I think food can give you an exp bonus as well but I'm not sure.

Anyway, the reason you don't get a bunch of exp for killing a thing is because you can easily abuse the system and get lotsa exp with the other methods, making this game easy as fuck.

A lot of people jump right into the middle of the battle. You can just back off and chill if you need to collect yourself by rolling around. In fact, the game rewards you for doing that by getting heavy damage when you do those back attack thingies.

I recommend changing the controller type to type B and putting the camera far away. Swords let you cancel out of your attack animation much more quickly then a greatsword so you have to know when to press the doge button. Unlock the Blink ability in the Combat sphere.

Why can't I drive the Regalia during the daytime? I used Auto once and now it's greyed out the option to manual drive :/

Loving the game thus far!

Thanks for the tips guys, I will do that. Thinking about it, I have been charging in and losing my bearings. So I think this will help.

Is there anything to do at the lighthouse? The crew made it sound like there was something up here to do but it seems like there's just nothing worthwhile here.
