Hmm, any recommendations on what accessories to equip? I have a bunch of HP ones equipped, but I feel they may be a waste on some of the more glass-cannon characters, Ignis and Prompto.

No to both of your questions.
How do you guys deal with monsters that are twice your level near quests objectives that are lower level?
i.e doing this level 15 sidequest to get some helidor and there is a level 27 monster that is too near it and will not get away from it (aka the battle is unavoidable).
Also snipers are wrecking me whenever a dropship appears (which happens too much imo).

What's the best setting to play on the Pro? Is the resolution worth sacrificing framerate?
Have you tried fighting them? The toads in Duscae are 27 and they were easy when I was level 10-12.
easy for you maybe (also I never fought them in Duscae so I don't know if they've been rebalanced).
Also having imperials drop in the same location makes it even more tough at times :/.

The game is worse off for the introduction of the Kingsglaive scenes at the end of Ch. 1.
The original cutscene that tells the player about the fall of insomnia is already anti-climactic and disappointing, but the insertion of the cutscenes BEFORE the scenes take place doesn't work.
A better version of this scene (which is already disappointing, because it's a missed opportunity for the story) would be:
1. Ignis comes in with the newspaper
2. As ignis narrates what happens, scenes showing some of what Ignis is talking about are shown on screen for dramatic effect - the attack, the death of Regis, etc.
If anything the scene is too long and feels like a mid-game trailer for the movie.

Really liking the game so far. The combat is great but the complaints about the story are completely valid. They absolutely do not give enough context for the things that are going on. I haven't watched Kingsgalive yet, I will be later, but I shouldn't have to watch what will probably be a mediocre extended cutscene. IX is still easily my favourite at this point, but there is plenty more to go.

It's a shame the HUD option is all or nothing, I just want the mini-map (occasionally) but could do without the weapon grid, controls and HP gauges (which only really need to appear in battle anyway)
You need to reload a save (I don't know how much it autosaves so manual saves a lot helps).

Here comes the Digital Foundry technical analysis of the game on all the "3" platforms (Ps4, Ps4Pro, Xb1).
As an absolute surprise (at least to me), they consider the PS4 version the "worst" of the three due to the pacing issues (not/less present in the other 2).

The dungeons are great and when the battle system is in full flow my word it is fun. Really like the world design but mixed feelings on the open world element especially as there are lots of pointless side quests. Still don't like the characters.

Do they even spawn in set locations? I think it's just sort of random. Searching for the guy I found a different one nearby. Seems like it's a random / procedural thing. Thanks for trying to help me out though

I'm so devastated. Fucking YouTube thumbnail ruined the ending for me after a ten year wait.
I know there's probably a lot of twists and turns and the whole game to look forward to but knowing where it leads just ruined the game for me. A split fucking second of a brief image.
I've been laying in bed all night, can't sleep at all. Can't get that image out of my head. Literally no sleep, entire day ruined. I do everything to avoid spoilers, I don't even watch gameplay footage before the release. I'm just so pissed even though I have no idea what happens throughout most of the game.

how does high mode on the pro work on 1080p tvs? super sampled so the image should still be sharper than the lite native 1080p mode?

I play on high on my standard 1080p and it works like a charm. I really like it. My ps4pro fan kicked in (quietly) for the first time so use it sparingly or not for extended periods.

I'm personally hoping the game doesn't just end with the Emperor being killed and Noctis and Luna getting married.. I've never really followed anything in the development so I genuinely have no idea where the story goes
Are you sure it was the ending? Maybe you can ask someone who has finished the game whether it actually was the ending (like, a yes/no question)?
That sucks so hard, man. I have been avoiding youtube for a week now because of this phenomenon. Hope you can still enjoy the game (combat is amazing, for instance).

There was a huge discussion we were all having yesterday in this thread about the text smearing from rubbing your fingers across the pages. A few gaffers confirmed theirs had no issues like this. I literally removed half a box of text from one of the pages where my thumb was holding the book open (its new, you know their stiff a bit at first) and when my finger dragged a bit text got removed. Messages piggyback directly and they have me that response stating that it is a printing error and are going to send a replacement. I even grabbed my xeno collectors and a few others of similar page quality and they don't smear like this book did
Yea same. Friendly fire in party based action combat never works. It needs to go.
Sucks because otherwise combat is the best thing about this game.

Exactly my question. Terrible choices for FFX soundtrack. They picked some cracking songs for FF9 and FF6 though. Chuffed with them.
It only hurts your team mates a miniscule amount though? I fling magic all over the place and barely even notice it. I only notice I'm getting hit myself by it when Noctis flinches for no reason.

Are there treasure chests in this game? The open world seems ripe for treasure chests.
I want to, but I want to sleep where I get the 1.5X EXP. But I can't fast travel to that place because it's night. What an oversight!

I remember talking about this all the way back at the first demo but it's a little annoying because certain places give an exp boost. So if you have to use a camp you actually lose a bit of exp compared to making it to a caravan or hotel. If you've gained a lot of exp during the day you can lose quite a bit using the camp. In the not really a big deal though but I think that's the main reason you'd want to skip the night without cashing in exp

The music is phenomenal...this game is so beautiful. I love it. And I'm not even a huge fan of JRPGS (Yes, I'm happy they took out the turn-based combat ^^)

Youtube has done this for me so many times. It's like they see my initial interest in a game, when looking up a trailer or a review, is somehow enough for them to go "Oh maybe you'll be interested to see the ending to the game? Don't worry we'll pick the videos that have the most explicitly spoiler filled thumbnail so you can't escape it." I once looked up music from The Witcher 3 and I got a video recommendation to the ending of the Blood and Wine DLC. I don't know what you can do about it other than avoid the front page of Youtube...and the sidebar.
Yeah, now I'm just waiting manually till it's morning. Driving with Noctis probably takes longer.
