I have a question for anyone who has finished the game till chapter 9. I have around 30000 exp points saved up. Should I rest at that x2 hotel or wait for that x3 in
Altiisia I heard
. I mean, I am pretty sure the game will save and force me to level up after the chapter ends. Or does it not?

Please anyone know let me know if I should wait for that x3 exp hotel to unlock or not be greedy and just go to the x2 one.

Tried the German voices and hey they are better imho than the English ones. Pretty solid job.

Still I'll switch back to Japanese after this save ^.^/

My suggestion is to not be greedy and just use go with the flow. Unless you really need the extra boost in EXP, then you can try
the one in Altissia. You easily get a shit ton of EXP in post game. I got 200k easily and that could be boosted to 600k with the 3x hotel.

I really tried to stick with Japanese audio, but the form of storytelling, outside of cutscenes, makes it difficult to follow. So I stuck with English and starting to develop an adaptive preference to the voices lol.

Fishing is so annoying. What am I missing? The marker is useless 9 times out of ten and I have to recast.
I usually like fishing minigames but this one is more annoying than anything else

For as sluggish and awkward the first hour is, the four men pushing the car in the desert while "Stand By Me" plays in the background already feels like a classic Final Fantasy moment.

Any spanish speaker noticed that the "Star Pendant" accesory is the trollest item ever?
The spanish translation is "Colgante de Stella" (Stella's Pendant) and the description is:

"Pendant that belonged to a heroine fallen into oblivion long ago."

Tabata trolling at best.

Is there supposed to be a sound when Magitek ships appear? They're dead silent, even though characters will call them out.

The way those ships fly and appear is something straight out of the PS2 era. They just appear out of nowhere, move straight forward on a line, no evidence of engines firing or particle effects, just literally a static model that spawns and moves on a line.

Then when you beat all the guys that drop down, the next one will spawn almost immediately and bring the same group of enemies back to your location immediately.

There's so much janky stuff like that in this game.

Keep switching your lures around, they severely change how easily certain fish will latch on

I only played a couple hours so far but I'm in love with the game. Good lord I'm happy I watched Kingsglaive first... It is probably not necessary and things will have more context later, but things start out with almost NO context At. All. At least I already know WHY Noctis is getting married... WHY the other kingdom is about to visit, I actually know WTF is going on. But without the movie... ooof.

I mean I've gotten all that through dialogue and the opening cutscenes...(also a couple of hours in).

Save, indeed unless there's a specific point for that.

Health you should be able. Are you sure you're not trying to get your max HP back instead? Potions only work on "grey" health bars, not on black health bars. Black health bar chunks are recovered with elixirs.
Thanks
That was it

In a game with really out of place sentient Cacti as enemies I fail to get annoyed by things such as silent air vehicles.

Also I keep getting map markers for no reason, that I constantly have to turn off. Like They just pop up randomly

I think It's not really random. If you track a quest from the Menu it places a marker, same if you park your car, at least for me. Don't know why they do that, both things have their own markers.

EDIT: I'm curious, how many people are playing with Wait mode?

I do, and I like it. :D

Its just a cinematic vs fair game design argument......and since action games have proven you can do both, there is really no reason to settle for either.

I don't disagree with you on this. But so far I've found XV to be quite fair. I always have the tools to deal with the challenges it throws at me. It plays differently from character action, sure, and I can understand preferring character action control. But, within its own established rule set it's predictable and I don't think cheap.

the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

YankeeDonB, publicly apologize and play KH 1.5 + 2.5 HD Remix or you can kiss your business goodbye.

lol

Nobody should be allowed to burn Kingdom Hearts combat - if they do, there must be consequences - perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail! #MakeJRPGsGreatAgain

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
I actually really liked Chapters 1 and 2 in this game, especially coming off of Kingsglaive. So far the narrative has been fine. After playing Star Ocean 5 with its "interactive cutscenes" I feared that the same would be true of this game: it's not. For an open world game, the narrative is perfectly alright.

Who else HATES Dino? This dude is the Merchant O'aka of FFXV.

Hopefully good word of mouth that this isn't XIII boosts this from a 3 mil seller to a 5 mil over its lifetime because I feel like the series would be in decline no matter what game came after. XIII and the trilogy after were just that bad for people.

People can be so goddamned nitpicky. But oh well, to each their own (nitpicks).

Like I said before, how annoying would it be to have a massive spaceship-sound every 5 minutes? I prefer the silence. Maybe engines are just silent in the parallel future-present-past Final Fantasy world.

So are you supposed to click R1+R3 on every single enemy you want to kill to track them? There's no option to just hit R1 once to lock on instead of holding, or that it locks onto the next enemy after you kill the first one? Because I kill 1 enemy, then just hold circle and mash square because how are you supposed to know whats even happening during these fights...

This is frustrating to me as well... I didn't know that R3 does anything, what does that do?

the "Hold R1" thing isn't working... you need to constantly find a new target and hold again... or you may lose target for some reason, wonder what is happening, then need to release R1 and hold it again to get your target back.

I wish you could just tap it to lock on... and it remains locked until the enemy is dead.

I've been fairly successful so far, but I don't have it all figured out.

Your lure definitely seems to matter (different fish like different lures -- you should be able to get an idea of what fish are at a spot from nearby signs).

Also, how you move it when a fish draws near matters.

At first I didn't realize you were supposed to cast ON the fish on the minimap and was very confused.

This is frustrating to me as well... I didn't know that R3 does anything, what does that do?

It is indeed a bit awkward. The nice thing about the soft lock is it lets you hammer an enemy then instantly release lock to, e.g., warp THROUGH them w/out warp strike for reposition then immediately reengage soft lock.

We have a fundamental disagreement on how combat flow should work it seems. I'd prefer it to be highly variable and grounded in different kinds of encounters. That I have to use different tactics when fighting tuskers vs dual horns makes those fights feel meaningfully different and interesting to me.

In old FF tuskers would have had high random evasion. Now they're just hard to get ahold of. It's a realization of something that used to be abstract.

Also, more practically speaking, I've had no problem with the big swords in these types of encounters. Just have to switch to them at the right moment, I,e, not try to get into a smooth flow.

I'm fairly sour on KH. The different enemies all tended to blur together to me, and although Sora controls smoothly, I never found fights that engaging. Mind you, I never finished 1 or 2, and definitely didn't master the combat.

I'm fine with using different tactics to fight different enemies. But when the game's idea of "difficult" is to swarm multiple enemies together to make your life a living hell, that's not good design. Good design in Kingdom Hearts is dealing with Nobody Berserkers and samurai at the same time. You can spam attack to win but get ready to have your life be a shitshow. I don't expect to attack constantly when swarmed with enemy. However I do expect the combat to be deep enough to the point where it gives me multiple options that are not cheesy to deal with. If the game doesn't allow for that then it's bad design and if more options are available then maybe it should be an encounter reserved for later points in the game.

Also, the game gives you too many things in combat in the beginning of the game. Like... who the fuck thought this was a good idea?

This is... absolutely true. Count your blessings, I suppose.

I can't believe she showed up AGAIN in World of FF.

I'm only on chapter 2 but my biggest gripes so far are the camera and the damn stamina bar. Combat gets really messy in small enclosed spaces and the stamina bar shouldn't even exist. You spend so much time walking this giant empty world. I don't need Noctis getting tired every few seconds. Maybe it's just because I haven't unlocked Chocobos yet. I've actually been avoiding sidequests because I hate walking around so much.

So you can't save in dungeons? I went through the mines, but after exploring for a while I got a game over thanks to that lvl 52 samurai asshole and had to load my recent save right before I started the mines lol.

That's totally old school. I was expecting to be able to save like many other modern games nowadays, but you actually need to be careful and back off when you think you should.

Speaking of the mines, I liked how there were multiple paths you could go.

Finished Chapter One last night after finishing off the sidequests I could reasonably do. I am enjoying what I am playing but I agree with a bunch of you that not being able to accept multiple hunts at a time really sucks. All in all I am really liking the characters. The little conversations that they have in and out of battle between each other really fleshes them out quite well.

Turn stamina 'on' in the options so you can see the bar

Use circle (standard button scheme) to Sprint
Let go right when it gets into the ST range - nearly depleted - and Noctis will leap forwards and get a boost
Stamina bar auto refill

Infinite Stamina

Again, i feel there are lots of non-cheesy options for dealing w/ these enemies (positional warping using soft lock on/off, defensive crouch waiting for opening, dodge/counter w/ big sword, magic at the right time, Gladio's first tech, Ignis' first tech). Agree to disagree I guess.

But I definitely agree with you that throwing large groups at you right off the bat w/out a chance to gradually work up to dealing w/ them more elegantly/efficiently isn't great.

So you have no choice so yeh, go for the 2x one.

You can't save in dungeons but you can simply open your map and return to the entrance from anywhere in the dungeon, except when not in a fight. I do this to return and save once I open shortcuts etc.

I did not know this thanks for the tip.

Yeah the game doesn't tell you about it.

Thank god for OCD people like me who need to fiddle with every single setting haha

Anyone else annoyed as fuck that the game clock keep running while "Paused"?

I HATE when games do that...

Press the PS button after you've paused it. Pretty sure it completely freezes the game and therefore the timer. Need to check again though because I might be bullshitting.

I thought my tv was correctly calibrated until i tried to purchase food at a diner, is it just me or is the price sooo hard to read?
Just saw a gamespot video that showed it briefly exactly as mine

Anyone?
It looks like white letters on a whitish background

Do story related radio announcements not play if you're listening to music?

I ask because it seemed right after I turned the radio off, there was an announcement about the capital or Luna addressed the people (getting confused with the diner radio). Now I'm nervous about playing music if I'm gonna miss lore nuggets like that...

you can do the infinite stamina trick with L3 as well. I prefer that because you kinda can't move the camera when holding O.

I've definitely had them start in the car when I was listening to tunes...

Oh I didn't know this. I turned it off because it looked so damn ugly. I'll try this, thanks.

I see some people complaining about the encounter design. I agree that it's pretty bad. Big swarms aren't fun to fight because it's impossible to keep track of all the enemies and dodge them all when to have like 4 guys attacking you one after another. The camera also goes to shit.

Varies game to game. It's a good trick to "Pause" some games that can't normally be paused, while other games would even keep running a cutscene while you are in the system menu.
