Enemy encounter design in the field is absolute garbage. Who thought it was good design to have swift moving targets all swarm on you and there is a very limited cheesy way to deal with it. Combat system is good but gotdamn the fucking encounters are dogshit.

I find that heavy weapons are really good at clearing out multiple fast enemies. I am really good at timing shit in games tho. I still early on though.

Question: with the parry. How do you get it work actually? Is it random when it shows up? Or can you initiate it somehow? I always hit it at the right time when ever it shows up, I just want to know how to get it TO show up.

I thought my tv was correctly calibrated until i tried to purchase food at a diner, is it just me or is the price sooo hard to read?
Just saw a gamespot video that showed it briefly exactly as mine

You could, but that would probably look bad. There's already dissonance between what's happening in the plot and how the characters act. The road trip part so far doesn't affect the banter. They're all pretty upbeat while terrible things are happening around them, but that's not how they act in cutscenes. I'm only in chapter 6, so maybe that changes later. Right now the road trip aspect doesn't mesh with the reclaim your throne plot.

Sure. I'm talking about what the game chooses to emphasise though. Not using it as an excuse for weak plotting. I probably didn't make myself clear enough.

Without spoiling anything, is the World map you get in the beginning of the game the full map or just a section? I've been mostly on blackout with this game so have no idea.

Jesus fuck..
DO NOT FUCKING CLICK THIS IF YOU ARE NOT DONE THE GAME.

Put "end game spoilers"

I'm fucking gone. fuck this fucking shit.

Sorry, didn't think it was necessary, since I didn't know it happened at the end of the game. Just saw this as a title.

Anyway, could someone answer me please ? Are there other twists or the plot is all about this event ?

I only played a couple hours so far but I'm in love with the game. Good lord I'm happy I watched Kingsglaive first... It is probably not necessary and things will have more context later, but things start out with almost NO context At. All. At least I already know WHY Noctis is getting married... WHY the other kingdom is about to visit, I actually know WTF is going on. But without the movie... ooof.

To the game itself...

- Side Quests are better than I expected, even the "fetch" ones. At least they have dialogue at the beginning and end. I don't mind a fetch quest when it has a little story behind it. Even if trivial.

- Hunts are cool, but far more simple than I expected. Just a go kill this / these. But I'm sure there will be some epic battles ahead. And there are a LOT of them it seems...

- After I selected "Auto" for the car, it seems I can't go back to Manual yet? What gives... I hope the game gives me back control soon. I really enjoy Auto, but my GF wanted to try driving the car and I couldn't let her... :/

- Combat is a chaotic mess and combat camera is atrocious. I did the entire tutorial which helps a lot, but it is silly to get the tutorial repeated again during the initial quests / hunts... thanks, game. When you are in a large swarm of enemies, I just hold Circle and hope for the best... hold Square when prompted... and CONSTANTLY FIGHT THE CAMERA, to keep my view from being blocked by trees and the like, which don't go transparent. Thanks again, game.

- Photos, cooking, and fishing are fantastic. I have no idea what the Survival skill does though... can someone explain?

- Cutscenes are janky as fuck and I think it's because of multi-language support. I think they had to make them very "generic" in their implementation so that they can support animations for multiple languages. There is a reason that past games did not provide more than one language, and localization took a lot of time. This game released day 1 in all regions in all languages, and you can tell they had to make sacrifices to make that happen.

- I couldn't help but laugh when I talked to NPCs that reveal all objectives in the surrounding area... What is this, an Ubisoft game? LOL

Overall, I am having a LOT of fun and can't wait to play more! It's good to know that once I get tired of the open world stuff, I can just hammer down and plow through the story.

For such a massive thing like..... that

It's normally common courtesy to make a big song and dance about just how big of a spoiler it is.....

I'm really, really liking the game, but there are a few... odd things.

The map resolution is pathetic. Like, abysmal, it looks almost JPEG'd

Also I keep getting map markers for no reason, that I constantly have to turn off. Like They just pop up randomly

That event is about 60% of the way through the main story. You've still got a few surprises in store throughout. The things you'll see...

*just after that event spoilers*

Poor Ignis.

It's tagged. It's up to your discretion to click on it.

Well for the benefit of all gaffers I always make sure to make it very clear that my spoiler is potentially a game changer if I post as such.

Except fucking mobile spoiler tags don't load half the time and on desktop even if you HOVER by accident it'll show the spoiler sometimes without you knowing there are spoiler tags.

That's how I got done

Well this makes me feel better. Based android.

Yea because usually it's early game spoilers when people type like that.
Even though there are clear rules on how spoiler tags should be used, most people don't follow it (or even enforce it) so this kind of shit has been happening since GAF's inception.

Just avoid clicking on spoiler tags until you're done with the game in question.

You were going to get spoiled regardless then. Regardless if he put a notice on it or not.

So are you supposed to click R1+R3 on every single enemy you want to kill to track them? There's no option to just hit R1 once to lock on instead of holding, or that it locks onto the next enemy after you kill the first one? Because I kill 1 enemy, then just hold circle and mash square because how are you supposed to know whats even happening during these fights...

I'm at chapter 13, right after:

Putting the ring on. Right at the zone where I have to hide from enemies in some corridors.

How long is this chapter and how much more to go for me?

Did anyone else read the prologue for the game?

If not, check it out.
It's meant to show off what the bros are doing up until the point the game starts. Kind of gives off a Brotherhood vibe.

Strongly disagree. Small quick enemies act just like... small quick enemies. Lots of ways to deal with them. Stay in defensive mode until an opening. Warp in and out. Use big sword after a dodge for a big AOE counter, group em and drop a fire bomb on em. Bro's abilities too. I think this is good encounter design, although of course it can be irritating at times.

Seems like it. Occasionally opening the map mid-fight can be irritating

It's terrible. It's gotten to the point where I'm deliberately overleveling myself so large swarms are less frustrating. The camera is just disastrous.
