Im digging this so far!

I tell ya...I would love for more Japanese developers to interpret what "Open World" means. They take more interesting twists on it. (ie Dragons Dogma...MGSV...etc.)

And yeah...that
Stand by Me
intro was strange yet completely worked.

Though I'm early, I didn't think Square had the horses to write a "bro" camping trip in a way that worked...but damn...I was wrong. Completely works.

Combat is also great.

Not really understanding the block button in this. Should I be constantly holding it to dodge, or is there more to it than that?

Never enjoyed the battles in demos but i started to play the game today. Played few hours and did some qquests at starting area. I am enjoying the combat but i wish i had more options as offense and defense (probably will get more stuff later). I also unlocked a new skill for Gladious but how do i equip them?

Also i really dislike arpgs with AI characters. Not just because their AI is good or bad, it's just screen becomes too hectic and i fele like i have less control on the flow of battle.

Hold it when you see the indicator on screen, and then be prepared to quickly press the Attack button afterwards to perform the parry/counter.

Just watched Kingsglaive. Do yourself a favor and pause the game after the opening scene where Noctis is an ass to his father and go watch the movie. Then continue playing. Really fleshes out the story and was pretty cool too.

Is there anyway to resize the HUD/screen? Many HUD objects are on the very edge of my screen and the little pop up notifications like "Gladiolus picked up such and such" are getting cut off/continuing off screen.

If you don't have an over scan setting on your TV, you're kinda screwed. I'm experiencing the same issue as my HDTV is from 2006 and it's pretty annoying. Lot's of people are posting in this thread: https://forum.finalfantasyxv.com/discussion/21118/need-a-hud-screen-adjuster on the official forums. I don't have high hopes that this will get a hot fix (like it needs) and I assume IF they do anything for it, it will be saved and lumped into a bigger patch. I don't see how this was overlooked as no other game I've ever played has had this issue.

Despite the major negative above, I've been really enjoying this game. I've put about 13 hours in and have only just unlocked chocobos. I should probably push on with the main quest, but I keep getting distracted by other quests/hunts and I think I'm starting to get over leveled. The first dungeon was great and I'm looking forward to all the others. The atmosphere in them is just so good.

I don't really have any story complaints yet, but I watched Kingsglaive and Brotherhood. I'm assuming the story is just a slow burner up until the end. I've seen some complaints about the tone of the game post invasion, but I don't really see a problem. FFVII has been my favorite FF since it released, and it had weird, quirky, laid back moments throughout.

The music is this game is really really great. That's why I'm VERY disappointed that field music gets interrupted by opening the menu or the map. I really hope they address this in a future patch. I've seen that Falk has done work on the game (or that's my understanding). Maybe he could weigh in on the issue (if he hasn't already).

I should have kept going but I had been playing it for like half an hour with no signs of any progress besides enemy levels incrementing slowly, so I quit. I got a carbon bangle or whatever, +150 HP I think.

These shops are selling me soundtracks, decals, and car paint jobs, how do I access these? I haven't found any menus for these.
I only played for like 15 minutes so it seems to be random, got like 200000 score and 34 of those brown things in the corner

You can customize the car at hammerhead

So many minor things are confusing. Why can I "Return to car" only sometimes? Why can't I fast travel between campsites? Seems like an obvious thing you'd be able to do. Why can't I have my car auto drive to Hunt points, if the hunt is my active quest selected?

It sucks having all these icons on my map if I can't fast travel to any of them. So many things I want to check out, but they're all so far away and my only choice is to walk.

Maybe that changes later. I'm still in chapter 1 exploring around a lot.

Question regarding the story. A simple yes or no will suffice, no details:
does Nyx get a mention in the game or is it like he never existed?

He's in the game. Before the Final Battle, the Final boss shows 4 bodies : Iedolas (I think), Regis, Luna and Nyx.

Before I go any further, should I be selling all of my treasures? I have been but don't want to be screwed later on.

I only just got to Chapter 2.

For anyone that's finished the game, or really far ahead, in the least info possible (Re: Summons)
Are they acquired through side content, or through progressing naturally?

Completely related to the main story only. No side quest summons.

Hard to say what to sell/not sell. I'd hang on to any "gemstone" (earth gemstone, sky gemstone, etc.) type stuff and any "bits" (rusted bit, chrome bit, etc.) you get for weapon upgrading. Sell everything else. SAVE THE ORACLE ASCENSION COINS. They can be traded to an NPC later for gear in one of the towns.

You can drive to hunt points if you've been near the hunt point before.

It's a bit weird running into clearly-evil-purple-haired dude who's dressed like a FF character while everyone else is wearing normal clothes. Is it supposed to be representative of the gap between those who live inside the royal city and the rest of Lucis' population?

What's with the fucking spoilers coming out of nowhere? Jesus man.

Edit: Some of you need to learn the proper way of tagging your spoilers.

This, in japanese scene he just comes off as casual, but gentle sounding anyway

Not sure about the English one, but
after a certain point in the game the Japanese VO was jaw-droppingly good.

Oh the translation is still quite off at times. I am using Jap VO and English subtitle, the latter would say very different things every now and then....

A friend just told me you can swap control schemes to make block and attack different hands. That's good at least. It's a little awkward having block/attack using just your thumb when you basically want to be holding attack fulltime but you have to hold block instead.

I don't think this is 100% correct. I've been hit by attacks with no Hold prompt appearing. I just try to guess when there might be an attack coming and look for telegraphed attacks, if at all possible in the chaos that is this battle system.

There should've been more Insomnia and Regis in general.
It's kind of hard to care about your hometown falling when you see it for like 2 seconds. Even Noctis doesn't seem to care right after the cutscene. I met Iris who escaped the destroyed city and she's hopping about like nothing ever happened. What kind of lives did these characters live in the city? What kind of relationship did Noctis have with his father? From what I understand this is in supplemental material but it should've been in the game itself.

that Griffon Hunt in the fields by Losttalum
I had an epiphany....FINAL FANTASY XV is the "polished" Dragons Dogma we have all been asking for.....at least to me. I feeling a strong DD vibe playing through this game....Night time is pitch dark and dangerous...so many option distractions. Solid but rudimentary combat...Dragons Dogma 2 is here guys! Now let's just pray the post game come anywhere close to Dark Arisen....

FROM THE TOS PAGE:

The following is an example of what is good and bad spoiler usage:

Correct spoiler marking strategies.

This is a spoiler for the 4th boss fight in Zelda
I can't believe the part when the boss breaks out a deck of cards and starts playing poker with himself!

Incorret spoiler marking strategies.

I can't believe
link
dies at the end of the boss fight against
megaman
or
Dude, I can't believe link just died

If you're going to be ignorant against the forum rules, at least mark your spoilers appropriately for the sake of other players. Otherwise go to the spoiler thread!

If you have a question about chapter 13 for instance. Go to the spoiler thread and ask there.

Oh yeah, it's there when I open the map. I thought it was an on-screen marker.

Ah, I meant the marker on the map :) On Screen markers are only the Custom one and the Current quest IIRC. But would be nice if you could turn them off(Maybe you can but I just didn't find the option for it), The Markers on the minimap are all I need.

I briefly talked about this in the review thread, but is there any way to have the US version of the game have the Asia/JPN control scheme of O being accept/interact? Loot pickup and interact worked much better when it was not the same button as jump. Sony really screwed up changing O to X for the Western audience.

My Prompto is always taking shots of Gladiolus's back and ass lol.
