Ah, I meant the marker on the map :) On Screen markers are only the Custom one and the Current quest IIRC. But would be nice if you could turn them off(Maybe you can but I just didn't find the option for it), The Markers on the minimap are all I need.

Yeah, but since you can't, I turned the minimap off instead, and so far the experience has been great.

Hope to finish the game today but honestly feeling very mixed about the whole thing. There's good, even great parts but there's also really baffling, bad parts throughout. We'll see how I feel at the end.

Sorry Kagari but I feel you will always be biased against this game because it is not the game (or heroine) you wanted.

I have NO ideas how to deal with enemies. Even did the tutorial.

I am lvl 14 and get wrecked by lvl 12 mobs easily. Lock on doesn't work, prompts are somehow not recognized (the defense prompts) and I really don't know what I'm doing.

And yeah, not a fan of the presentation too.

Oh man, I was walking around in Lestallum and some random NPC made a remark about the crowd

... There was no crowd. It's like I'm in a ghost town outside of select spots. Not gonna lie, this is seriously taking me out of the experience when it comes to the towns at least. At least don't pretend it's different, game.

I'd really appreciate some more people on the Pro at least. :/

Honestly you can see how rushed the game is with things like this.....Theres whole cutscenes where your gang talk about events that didnt happen.

Sarcy spoiler description for late game chapters
"yea ravus looked super tough", did he? Cause erm we didnt see him do anything but talk

About how I'm feeling, but I'm only 12 hours in*. Hoping it gets better. So far it seems very much like a better than the sum of its parts situation. So many problems but it's all coalescing better than it probably should.

*actually nearly 15, thanks 2.5 hours lost to glitches

This game feels like a complete 180 degrees from FF13. That's both good and a bad thing.

Some would say it's the... flip side.

I'm about 12 hours in and so far I can say this is one of the most inconsistent games I've ever played.

Some aspects of it are extremely high quality, but then whatever praise I can give is immediately revoked a few seconds later with some bizzare decision.

I think my main issue with the game is it gets in my way often. At this point I'm just going to plow through the main story since the open world aspect seems fatally flawed in a number of ways.

Edit: However, I will say I'm enjoying myself more than with any of the 3 ff13 games.

Pitioss Ruins
. Holy shit, I did not expect that. That was amazing and frustrating at the same time.

I feel like an idiot, but I can't figure out how to fast travel.

It says you can return to anywhere that is a parking space. How do you do it? When I click the map menu, all I see are return to rest point, return to car. When I'm in the car all I see is auto which automatically drives the car to a spot. Is this fast travel or is there a way to travel without sitting in the car for minutes?

Oh yeah, I'm sure that line was implemented at a time they intended to have a bigger crowd. In fact I recall seeing denser crowds in pre-release stuff. I would have rather have them cut it at this point though.

I'm not surprised there's more stuff like that. I hope they still plan on updating this kind of stuff somewhat :/

If you return to a rest point/parking space that has already been visited (There's a double arrow on the right of its name) you will get a prompt asking if you want to fast travel when selecting it.

Ahh.. found the two disc set of Final Fantasy IXs soundtrack.

Traversing around the world while Crossing Those Hills plays is so wonderful.

These side quests are not fun and poorly made. Same for hunts. And only being able to track one at a time is annoying. The car makes everything more complicated instead of making things faster.
And there is little reason to explore at all.

Other games have made the exact same thing but better. I don't get why we still get this kind of product. I guess I'll skip most of them and just do the story, bleh.

Do you do this on the map or from the car menu? I've looked in both and for the life of me can't find it. Trying to travel back to start on the hunts.

That's not even the problem. There's issues at the game design level that are very apparent. Trying to call me out for being biased when others are echoing the same issues isn't very becoming.

I really respect your opinion when it comes to FF (after all played XIV thanks to your praise of the game) so I guess I've done well in skipping this for now. 'tis a shame :(

If they patched in fast travel from the menu to any visited outpost, it would drastically improve my opinion of the game. I can take mindless side quests. I can't take minutes of loading screens or car travel or the nighttime limitations.

It's like they just ignored the last ten years in open world game design so we could... bond in a really slow car with nice music.

Is the Behemoth quest bugged for anyone else? I can't get past the blocked off entrance to his lair.

Damn, that noctis and prompto scene at talpear outpust sure brought back the brotherhood feeling... it is very hard not to love this game

Yeah, spoiled myself on that reply too. I was really curious about the if when you asked, not the how. Oh well? :L

I'm just annoyed and upset mainly bc I was pretty explicit in what I wanted to know and what type of answer I wanted. And not only did he not do that, he spoiled the fate of one of the other characters in the game... Like a big spoiler.. Srsly, wtf is wrong with people?

Is there any way to turn off Ignis' nagging about driving at night. He says this every damn day. Guy I get it, you don't want me to drive at night or you want me to rest. I'm not going to. Leave me alone. If it wasn't like a 10 second cutscene I wouldn't be bothered but come on Square.

You can visit any place that you've DRIVEN to. If you just run past a Parking Area or Outpost it's not going to count. Also the nighttime limitations are there for obvious reasons.

Honestly I only started liking the game when I finished it and started doing the optional content without having to worry about that clumsy main story "campaign" (let's call it that). There's some really incredible stuff in there, worthy of the best FFs to me.

Nighttime limitations no longer exist as you progress through the game. They are necessary because in start because you get level 30 enemies in the middle of the road.

I don't think those of us who were in that position care about being vindictive towards this game. We wanted it to be good, but there are issues in the game that can't be ignored and will grate depending on who you are. YMMV significantly.

Thats probably true. For now the weaknesses of this game are absolutely minor for me because the atmosphere and fighting system are so good/fun. I mean I see them, but what I like about it is so strong that the positive overshadows the negative.
On the other hand I would prefer FFXIV 1.2x or FFXIV before 3.2 to what we have now in FFXIV. So my point of few would be unreasonable for others :D! In the end this game will polarise and I think we'll get a lot of "rttp" and "lttp" threads with diverse discussions in the future!

5 or so hour in.
So far having a lot of fun with this. I'm really liking the presentation and combat, plus the main cast is great and the music is fantastic. Story is also fun so far though I think Square should have really made Kingsglaive free on youtube (or at least add some download code for it on every version of the game). It's not really some optional prequel story, it's fundamental to really understand whats going on.

Only negative aspect so far are a lot of the sidequests. Not to say that all of them are bad but there are really way too many fetch quests and I think I will start to focus more on the main story and just do the sidecontent which doesn't seem limited to "go get me this".
The issue isn't with them being fetch quest but more in how they are designed. I'm fine with finding stuff or gathering items, but put some interesting fight or variation in them please. Too often it takes longer to get to the quest location than actually doing the quest.

Subjective criticism and objective criticism are two different things. Kagari has been very objective on this game and professional about it.

Also, I don't see anything wrong with ppl expressing their own opinions on the game in a non-professional context.

So, is there anyway to progress time? I'm trying to do a Hunt but it's a night one, is there a wait option or do I have to just let time naturally progress till it turns night?

Eating a monstrous plate of crow right now. The demos absolutely did nothing for me but I'm having a blast. Currently almost 9 hours in with Noct at level 20. Good show SE. My faith in you has been restored.

Yep, Behemoth quest is bugged. How am I supposed to RIDE THAT CHOCOBO now?
