Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
Just beat Chapter 9, this is hands down my favorite FF since VII. And I'm not even done yet.

It's definitely a mishmash of different ideas, but it ends up working in the end. Story is very easy to follow with minimal outside research.

Downloading patch now. Hype through the roof!!! Put the console to rest mode and go for a workout now. Apology to the poster who made a thread about rejecting sleep mode.

Anyway, how do you get the carbuncle summon? Is it automatically available in game? I've finished the demo. Do you get anything for Duscae demo??

I've been playing on normal and he's been hanging around in bushes and stuff when the party engages in battle.

weird, I haven't seen Carbuncle outside of the tutorial. It has my custom name from the demo and I did get the pop up saying that I had it. I'm on Normal too.

That chapter was amazing! Imo the story is decent, though incoherent, but it will definitely be memorable with bits like chapter 9 in it.

I'm curious...does the game ever allow you to explore the Crown City or an environment that look similar? I love the look of it and it seems like it might not be in the game at all. Feel free to spoiler tag the answer. I'd just like to know if there is something like that to look forward to.

You sort of go there, but it's a very small part of the game and it's just a bunch of long tunnels with enemies, nothing explorable.

Doesn't Carbuncle only show up to help if you're playing on easy or is that not true?
That was me who originally posted that Here's how I found out:

Dying in Normal mode kept giving me a tooltip that referred to a "helper" that may come to my aid in Easy mode. It didn't hit me until several hours later that it was referring to Carbuncle.
So, in order to test it out, I switched to Easy mode, went into the hardest dungeon I could find, purposely died and bam.. Carbuncle comes in with his Ruby Light.
I've since switched back to Normal and haven't seen Carbuncle again so...
I've been playing on normal and he's been hanging around in bushes and stuff when the party engages in battle.
Got any pics?

Damn first crash. Lost about thirty minutes from running through a dungeon during Chapter 1.

Now I gotta get the Auto Crossbow again.

EDIT: has anyone found the Orienteering posters for A-E? I found F and G (and F sends me to...I think it was a map piece?)

Chapter 13 is one of the worst levels I've ever played in a videogame. Holy shit it doesn't even have the decency of being short either.

Also SPOILERS from my guide on what Carbuncle actually does if anyone wants to know.

Carbuncle isn't a summon, all he does is grant a bonus during combat sometimes called Carbuncles blessing. It boosts vitality and strength for the duration of the battle. Edit: So he just shows up, hides and casts a blessing on you.

My gosh Prompto just said the most famous FFVII spanish translation typo.
"Let's go" should be "Allá voy" and it was translated as "Allé voy".

I managed to kill deadeye, with every fire cast being just shy of a barrel hit. I hope this isn't a recurring gameplay mechanic.

I believe you could have just
sliced and diced him. Just takes longer.

Oh btw, what the hell is up with the imperial dropship spawnrate? It's like every 20 seconds warns me of magitek armor incoming or an imperial dropship showing up.

Surely that must be a bug?

I kept trying to cast the spell when he was just over a barrel, but he jumps all over the place so my shots would just miss.

I mean, that's what I ended up doing. I don't think any of my barrels hit and I just managed to burn him down. I think I even poisoned him.

I managed to throw a fire on one of the barrels and it basically one shot him.

This game is so cruisey, there's like no sense of urgency whatsoever from what I've played.

At least in the first few chapters, it makes sense.

How do you even defeat the empire that just destroyed your entire kingdom with urgency? We're looking at years and years of preparation. If anything they're able to make things go much faster because of the astrals. Having the gods on your side can certainly make a difference.

There's also the other major storyline, the Starscourge. How do you stop the plague of the stars that is making nights longer and destroying the land with urgency? I don't think people even understand the cause yet, otherwise Regis would've done something about it before.

Yeah, the dropships come in way too often. I was doing a quest for Dino and it took forever because a) I didn't know quite what I was looking for, and b) I was CONSTANTLY attacked by imperials.

That and it's not like they have any idea of what the fuck is going on anyway.

Prompto took a pic and Carbuncle is floating above my shoulder. I don't think it was part of the sign behind me.

i imagine this is common(ly rare) as an easter egg? It was taken by the boardwalk in Galdin Quay. I'm wondering if it always happens there or if it shows up in random pics
....or if it was part of the sign lol.

Amazon just sent me extra weapon DLC codes. First to PM me can have them and try their luck, I'm at work ATM so delivery won't be until 12 hours from this post.

I just learned that FFXV is sold out everywhere locally, and I can't find the Deluxe Edition anywhere either. Only on Amazon UK at £86 and that seems expensive. This sucks as I just finished Kingsglaive last night, and have only two episodes of Brotherhood left.

When you go to sleep, what does the "Zero days passed" UI thing on the bottom left mean? I have not played much (I'm still in the first area, the magitek guards started popping up just now) so maybe this is just related to the game story days? It's weird since I've gone to sleep quite a few days already.

Isn't that a photo from Prompto? Carbuncle sometimes appears in them, even when visiting towns, just like
Gentiana
. It's pretty cool if he's casually hanging around like this but I have never actually seen him (in 65 hours of playtime now).

It's just letting you know how many days it's been since you rested. Nothing really important besides some quests that require you to pass time.

So... I got an extra set of roadtrip DLC from Amazon. Don't know if it works, I used my first set, so use it knowing that it might not work. First quote gets it. PS4 version.

I was a little sad that the Deadeye quest was shortened down so much, it was a lot more in-depth in the Duscae demo. I'd totally buy DLC if it added in fun mini events like the original hunt. Or DLC dungeons.
