Thanks.

On another note I just did the
base infiltration in chapter 5, but Aranea never showed up? Did I miss something?

Nope, there are multiple
bases to infiltrate, she appears in the second base you go to

Also Chapter
9

I thought it was awesome, like Noctis becoming Super Saiyan...was kinda epic in my opinion, like a mixture of Zone of the Enders and the final battle in the very first Devil May Cry against Mundus

How does this HDR look on an HDR screen? because here its increadibly blown out in the highlights. Looks terrible.
Easily the best use of HDR I've seen in a game so far. Really sold me on the tech

Mabye because it's so good it ends up translating horribly to screenshots.

Gladio's. It's actually one of the few things they do establish in dialogue >_>

Hah, I was hesitating between him and Noctis. I'm playing the game in French, maybe it got lost in translation, it seemed like the dialogue implied that they were both tied to her but maybe I missed something ;)

Just started Chapter 5 (after the mess that was 4). I have no idea what this game is about. The storytelling is vague at best and at worst, incoherent.

Gee, there's been a war. People have died. Let's go fetch questing for weapons! And then, let's go fetch questing for summons! Why? ... well, I dunno.

It's just... boring. This could have been an incredibly epic tale but they're telling it in the least interesting way possible.

What are they supposed to do at this point?
Luna is missing, the city is ravaged, Regis is dead, you're being hunted, there's no way into alticia, might aswel gather strength and try to figure out what's going on.

Complaints like these feel incredibly silly to me. For all the criticisms being thrown out there it doesn't seem like half of them involve much thought.

Now you are venturing into "brotherhood" territory. There is in fact a tie between her and Noct, that you can see in a brotherhood episode... but I found dialogue to be fairly clear in english/japanese version about whose sister she is *shrug*

I'm not a big open world fan. It just doesn't really contain many of the things I look for in a Final Fantasy and I can't imagine ever bothering to replay it.

What are you talking about?
Okay, let's see you go take on the freakin' empire with nothing but a normal sword...Noctis and Crew are gathering strength to fight the Niffs, the weapons and summons will give 4 people a fighting chance against a whole army...to me that makes a lot of sense...unless you would like them to cry and bitch about the losses for like 4 chapters...

They are both tied to her, Iris is a childhood friend of Noctis. Thinking they are brother and sister would seem quite strange during the
date
quest.

Speaking of, I was quite surprised when Iris joined my party for that quest, and even more surprised to see she has her own Tech skill

Like seriously. I don't know what some of you are expecting, especially this far into the game. And maybe you'd have fun and enjoy it more of you weren't trying to rush through the main story and spent time getting to know the gang and doing sidequests.

I just did the date quest, I asked my question right before, should have been more patient I guess! I'm definitely going to watch Brotherhood. I had heard terrible things about Kingsglaive but I ended up loving it so Brotherhood should be fun.

that puzzling face
Can someone put in spoiler tags when the full open world is open to explore? Thats when i want to do whatever i want.

This is a little hard to quantify because the game keeps opening additional areas as the story progresses. You get a gigantic 'could get lost in it' chunk of it by
Ch3
, and arguably most of it around
Ch9
with a few little areas here and there through to the end of the game.

And I just died in a dungeon because the game glitched out, making the rest of my party vanish. Instead of starting me just before it, it started me a mile back and I'm in no fucking mood to do all that walking again
when I'm already pissed that they took the car away to begin with.
. I'm glad everyone else is enjoying this game because I'm finding myself increasingly hating it with each passing chapter.

The sidequests are a bunch of nothing. And I should know as I've done like thirty of them because the game doesn't do a particularly good job of keeping you leveled for the main quest unless you do.

I just started playing the game yesterday and to be fair the whole overscan thing is driving me crazy.
Any words from SE to see when they are going to fix that?

The childhood friendship between
Iris
and Noctis is pretty poorly established because even when you choose the positive reactions during the tour it's just him feigning interest in what she's saying and him constantly sighing.

Going to ask again, for Ignis's cooking skill what are the limits on expanding it? Can you just keep cooking at the same base or run to another one or is there a time or exp requirement?

Not looking forward to maxing out fishing.

Because she has a massive crush on him and is his junior, he's humouring her and keeping his distance, lest he faces Gladio's wrath

I had two memorable moments yesterday for very different reasons. First was having the party freak out at Noctis when I was swapping weapons out of combat with the d-pad, They kept asking wth was he doing and saying he'd cut someone.
The second was falling down to a lake where there was a lvl 38 creature and Omnis Lacrima started playing... I was level 5, so I fled as soon as I managed to find the only narrow path that brings you back to the hill (which happened to be at the opposite end).

Have only played 2 hours so far, but I'm digging the combat system and the general atmosphere of the game, the amount of little interactions between the group when you're just walking around is great.

Is there anything you're liking about it or is everything just a huge turn off for you?

What in particular is killing it for you?

World is lifeless and dull, characters are bland. I've focused on sidequests and hunts so far and they seem to have the least possible amount of effort put into them.

The 'harder' the meal the higher the exp he gains from it.

Eat at every cafe or food vendor - try to eat one of each recipe. Try to find as many ingredients as you can - buy the ones you've never seen.

He'll gradually just learn new recipes etc...

I have the exact same issue. I can't see half the UI. Not official word yet I think but looking around the web, it seems that there are a lot of people complaining about it so hopefully Square will notice and patch it. I had the same issue with FFXIV on PS4 but that game allowed you to customize the UI and move it around, I wish I could do the same here.

From someone on the outside, not really following the game pre release, every stream I pull up I'm amazed by the look of the environments in the open world. Not the graphics but the amazing art design, I wish more open world rpg went this route. I'd love to play a elder scrolls region that looks like this

I've had the game since tuesday, but between work and spending time with my parents who are visiting for Christmas I haven't had a chance to actually play.

What a weird feeling, can't remember the last time I had something I wanted to play so much but managed to hold off and do oher stuff.

Doesn't this have to do with your TV and PS4 menu settings? I had a problem with Driveclub, but the remedy was going to the PS4 menu settings.

Chapter 13 has burned any goodwill I had remaining towards the game. What dipshit thought this was a good idea for a level?

Overscan is something you can adjust on most modern TVs but there are exceptions on some older models like mine where you can't change shit. The PS4 settings don't help in FFXV's case, believe me I tried. It's not an issue a lot of people are going to encounter but it's really annoying. Oh well, I'm still enjoying the game but I'm going to have to beat it without ever seeing my mana bar!

Ugh, playing the witcher 3 as the same time as this really makes me realize exactly how terrible some of these sidequests are...like the find x frogs/traps/etc on the ground in a small area. It all feels extremely random and fetch quest-ish. There's no real narrative behind it or reason for looking for them. Also sucks that it takes a long time to get there, and a long time to get back too. I feel like i'm just going to skip most of these sidequests

Save witcher 3 for later. You cannot beat the writing of those side quests in a game......it's a gold standard for what open world side activities should be.

If you eat certain good or sleep at some hotels (like the one in Qualdin Quay) you get EXP boosts. I was lv 17 when I started cp 3, but it really depends on what you explored and what quests you did, since some enemies and quests give way more experience than others.
I randomly encounters a cactus at lvl 9. It was lvl 18. Managed to take barely take it out but burned through my entire Porto s supply as another group of mobs joined. Got freaking 6K XP for it boosting me to lvl 15... in Ch. 1. Thanks Cactus!

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Final bump:

I just found out that there are 50% XP boost food.

How do these work? Can I use them just before camping and get 50% XP bonus on the massive XP gains that I've got? Can I do that with quest rewards as well, I mean, me taking the buff just as I turn in a bunch of quests?

Was playing with a friend last night, and he died doing a side quest. Can't remember the name of it, but it's during Chapter 3
started from just outside the Chocobo outpost in Duscae, and led to next to the meteor and a blockade. There was a fight with a some troops and a mech and that's where he died.
After coming back from the wipe the quest is gone, and I can't seem to start/pick it up again (even going back to the original spot where we started). Has this happened to anyone else, losing quests like that? Anything I can do short of reloading a save from before?

Absolutely loving the game so far. My mate lost his shit when he heard a Simpson's quote in Lestallum.
