Going into Chapter 5, is this supposed to make any sense?
Empire steals their car, and dumps them back into the wild. Yes, but why. Why steal their car and just let them go. None of this makes any sense and seems like it has "PLOT CONVENIENCE" hanging over it with a neon sign.
And then it's followedI laughed my ass off at that. Feels like every chapter has one of these moments. Where you just shake your head and say 'Wtf, was there a scene missing there? Did I press skip by accident?'
I'm struggling to see the fun in the combat. Given all of the comparisons with TW3, it seems worse than TW3 in every way.
- sluggish, non responsive
- poorly telegraphed enemy attacks
- hold to dodge
- cover to heal
- R2 to win (techniques). They're not engaging and just serve to make the combat even less fluid.
- complete lack of fluidity in the combat
Wait mode seems like a complete afterthought:
- doesn't make sense that you can only Libra using wait mode
- why does Libra take time to use?
- why is there a timer at all for wait mode? It's generous enough and just seems pointless
- wait mode makes the game easier. Specific tree for wait mode
- why can't I activate wait mode using a button instead of stopping to move.
Given that the story is poorly told, the side quests are repetitive and not engaging, and that exploration isn't really meaningful in any way, I'm struggling to identify any redeeming aspects to the game st this point.
Granted, I'm still in chapter 2...maybe my impressions will change with time. But as of now...not very good.
Thank Etro for the portable music player, the cheesy fake-Italian soundtrack in Altissia was going to give me a hernia.
Where or in what chapter can you get this? I really want that for some of the battle themes.

Wtf at the bioblaster.......how the hell you even effectively use the damn weapon it's like a short range cannon and it takes for ever to shoot
You should be able to buy it in the shop at your car at chapter 3 (at least that is when it showed up for me)Where or in what chapter can you get this? I really want that for some of the battle themes.
anyone on whether or not this weapon is worth using lol

Chapter 13 Boss Help:
How do you deal with Uttu? The piggyback guide says you are to holy and then squeeze by the crates. It's down to half health and I don't have many items left :/ Hate this area now. Seemed alright at first but now hate it.
And then it's followedup by a stealth mission? Really? Kill me.
there seems to be a huge disconnect between Ardyn's actions and the Empire's. Like, the empire attacked the Titan's side, seizing the car and all, but Ardyn, more or less working a little separately from the other Empire's troops who were attacking, got them out.

Ch 13 is awful.
You have to embrace the automation.
Holding attack puts you into auto-attack state. Each weapon has different combos, you need to learn at which points these combos can be fluidly broken to enter your defense state efficiently. Some weapons are easier to transition between states than others (generally, lower damage faster attack rate weapons have easier transitions).
You hold block to enter defensive state and let the game auto dodge for you. You can use this time to read the battle field and choose your next move.
When a square prompt appears, enter defensive state and let the game auto defend for you until you're presented with further opportunity.
Time your team tech moves to abuse their invincibility frames to give yourself a breather or to finish off enemies or damage them when they give an opening.
Also defensive moves like Iggy's Regroup are excellent ways to re-position for spell cast or just to take stock.
Also remember each weapon has additional combos tied to the left analog direction. So hold down the attack button to auto attack and mix up the directions to suit. Some weapons s have lunges forward and back to aid positioning.
This battle system is more about managing automated states and timing than is is precision control. You need to embrace this to find the fluidity.
This was duscae too. Click r3 when holding r1 to lock it for good.I'm so shit at this game now after being fine and enjoying the Duscae demo. I'm constantly in stasis. Seriously bummed out atm.
Why do I have to hold R1 to lock on? Ugh.

I don't necessarily disagree with your other points but I don't agree with this one. There's plenty to explore and you can get your hands on amazing rewards by doing so. It's by far my favorite thing in the game, but it only became apparent to me when I finished the story and started exploring for real.
Don't worry, the story continues to be stupid like this until the end, where they wrap it up in a nice ending that somehow leads people to forget all this nonsense.
This is a very helpful post. Thanks. I'll try to look at it in a different light.
Wait, when did the battle report card change?? It used to be defence/stealth/offence, now it's finesse and some other thing. Weird.

Ughhhhhh. Not as bad as the text box on screen creating the next story push.
"shit the game is out next month and we forgot to put a cutscene here", " a text box will do".

Yeah it's bad. I can't excuse the narrative in this game.Ughhhhhh.
Almost 40h playtime, level 47 with all my dudes... chapter 3.
Am I doing something wrong?
I'm laughing at them putting this level 5 quest item right outside a level 57 dungeon. I screamed when that samurai thing just swiped through me and I was one-shotted to the bottom of the mines. Just terrifying.me, a level 10 noctis: let me explore these mines! Level 7 goblins aren't so bad
me, still a level 10 noctis: runs into the level 50 boss and runs like crazy with the 1hp I have left
How shit is that, half of the time I open the map by accident.
