Think I might just do all the side quests so I'm over levelled. The combat kinda stinks in this game. Dodging feels awful, magic crafting is a baffling mechanic and your AI mates are absolutely useless. I much prefer XIII's combat to this honestly.

Beat it.

Overall a completely garbage narrative. I felt absolutely no connection to any of the characters or their plight and the conclusion ended on a wet fart. The ending does NOT make up for the garbage beforehand just like the spectacle in Kingsglaive doesn't make it an acceptable movie.

Thank god I'm actually back to the part of the game that's actually good.

The battle system is better than XIII but yeah, it has it's irritating quirks. Half of the time it will completely ignore the enemy I am actively dodging and attack a monster on the other side of the screen. Also, the run and attack button being the same was a novice mistake.

Oh, and bring 99 potions at all times, just in case you go down. Depending on those goofs to pick you up is a fools errand.

Did you load an old save or does the game drop you back to the open world at the end?

You save over a file and it drops you by a bed right before the last fight.

Same. It's just a huge cluster fuck and I don't feel like I'm coming out of battles satisfied.

You need to learn it properly. Its actually very intricate and deep, with very definite mechanics. Im not gonna waste time describing as you seem like a gamer who has so many games and not enough time to get into any of them properly, but if you want to master it you can. I hated it at first and felt like it was jank city, but the more I learn about it, slowed down and practiced, the better I understood it. The story on the other hand....

I just tried a hunt where I needed to kill a bunch of tiger looking beasts with large horns.

I was 10 levels above them and I got destroyed... Holy shit, by far the hardest fight. I tried going at it for about 15 minutes and I didn't even get one of the five I needed to kill even to halfway health. You're stuck in such a small confined corridor type area, its hard to move out of the way. They also seem to have an attack the one hit KO's you.

Its so hard.

It's weird. Sometimes the enemies are way tougher than their level. Like, Why does my attack does such low damage to the red deamon giant when hes 42 and I'm 50?

Chap 14 spoilers

ooooh. I didnt realize this was the end of the game. Thats a shame. I thought world of ruin wouldve been a whole second quest, get your boys back ect. Thats really a shame. Really a missed opportunity to heighten the game and make it more of an epic adventure. At least now I understand what calling umbra is for, so you can keep plaing on the world map n stuff. I think I'll beat it tomorrow , then get back to the side quests and whatnot.

I'm still in chapter 2, people were serious saying there's basically no story 'till this point and further. Does it ever change? It plays and feels good but story progression looks like your typical MMORPG/ARR. Does the "second half" improves on this? I don't care for coherence in it just more exposition.

Yea would have been really cool if you at least
walked from hammerhead all the way to capital seamlessly. Have Cor and Iris join you for half of it. Could have been really awesome. I still really liked the ending but it had potential to be one of the best.

I didn't play that demo but combat in this game is amazing imo.

It's slow to respond only if you try to play it like a character action game or standard hack and slash.

Instead of precision strikes you hold either attack to enter automated combo mode, or defend to enter auto dodge.

You can tap combos too, and you can manually roll to evade, but it's mainly about timing how you switch between the automated states and choosing when to switch targets, use spells, activate techs, recharge, etc...

If you embrace the automation it becomes incredibly fluid and very responsive in its own way. Just don't try to play it in a way it's not designed for.

That's my problem. I'm played the demo like a Tales of or Star Ocean game since the game is an Action RPG now. I just need to get used to it I guess :)

I don't know if I was doing anything wrong but in fights where I was tackling bosses who were 2-3 levels higher than me I was spending half of the time in item menu to distribute potions and elixirs...lol

Heighten the game and make it more epic?
What else do you think they've been doing since Altissia? I find it pretty surprising that you didn't realise it was the end of the game.

Unless what you are saying is that you expected a bit more stuff in Chapter 14 be it quest or story wise rather than just head to the final mission directly. In which case I agree !

From my experience now. short answer yes.

chapter spoilers as to when it changes,

chap 1 - 8 are all mmo questing and world map traversing. chap 9 -14 is linear story, cut scene extravaganza. I REALLY wish they married the two sides, wouldve been such an epic game.

chapter 14 spoilers,

I thought world of ruin was totally gonna be ff6 style, when you go to different places to see whats changed, slowly get your team back together, then go fight Kefka, erm, Arden :p

Got a question, is the demo for FFXV an accurate representation of what you will play in the main game? Haven't played a Final fantasy since X and X-2, which i loved, so i wonder if i should download the demo and give it a test run before making a decision.

I was also very disappointed. I wanted to see more of the timeskip world for sure.

Also, with the CHAPTER 14 SPOILERS
revelation about Daemons being infected humans, it's really obvious where the fal'cie part of the FNC mythos was just renamed.

If you mean Platinum Demo, absolutely not. If you mean the JP only Judgment Demo, then yes.

You could sell some of the loot you should have accumulated by this point?

I don't even know what you'd be spending all that money on. I can't get rid of mine! haha

I'm 24 hours in on chap 3 with like 80k

Treasures give you money, hunts give you a good money. That fat guy in Lestallum has multiple quests that give you a lot of gils for basically just going to a place and taking a photo.

Earning gils is easy in this game.

I don't know what the hell were they thinking with the Castlemark Dungeon.

Somebody actually tested that shit and said "yes, this is fun and well designed. People will love this."

Uugghh..

I did not know you could sell treasure, i wad affraid i might sell the wrong thing and end up regretting it. I have a bazillion treasures. Are there some that are usefull?

Game looks great on my JS9000 on high with HDR on except for one problem. There's this weird color banding in the sky where it's just obvious gradient lines. It's very jarring when everything else looks so amazing. Anybody else noticing this?

Finally watched Kingsglaive and yeah that was prettily mediocre. It really isn't mandatory viewing, I think, just a nice side dish (accounting even those who just want to learn more of the setting -- I think a condensed 5-min summary would do better, if it existed lol). Still, the last third brought me memories of Advent Children's own last third and not in a bad way, SOOO uh...anyways. Back to monster hunting..!! Story may be a bit shambles but it's at least a good time in between...for now anyway.

Currently on Ch. 3
hunting Deadeye
. For the chocobos!!

Yeah my advice is to go into the Elemecy and see what 'added effects' some of your items give to the magic spells.

If there are any you won't find useful - or if you have multiples of the same item - just sell them.

There are relatively few products you need for weapon enhancements and they can be quite easily regained. I don't think there are many items you 'only get once' but you'll know because of how ridiculously valuable they are. iirc.

Yes. doing hunts+selling some items+ doing Lost series guy missions will give you ton of money

I had 150K gils because of those.

Why the hell is a child telling me where to find the supplies I need to fix a vehicle.

Stop Tabata, just stop.
Why the hell am I warping all over the place? How can I conjure up weapons out of thin air? How can I drive a flying car? Why do animals disappear after I kill them?

Hint: It is just a game. Stop trying to make sense of everything.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Got to chapter 3, saw the big pit of water, ran down there right into an invisible wall...wasn't expecting that, lol.

The combat is starting to get under my skin a bit. I really, really dislike how chaotic it all feels due to not having any impact on team members. Prompto keeps fucking dying because he's right in a gangbang of enemies, I basically can't use magic or everyone runs into it to kill themselves, and for a combat system completely built around exploiting weaknesses not having Ignis take forever to actually use his ability that shows what they're weak/strong to would be great too.

All it would need is a simple set of AI primers so I can tweak it just a little bit, I would be enjoying this way more. I am baffled it is in its current state.

The absurd amount of invisible walls and the lazy way they put fences/rocks/whatever just to prevent you to go where you want to go is the most annoying thing about this game.

If you're going to play the open world card at least do it right, especially in a game that revolves around a guy being able to fucking teleport. There, it sometimes feels like they came up with a new concept of "corridor open world"
Chocobos are more frustrating than anything since they get stopped by the tiniest tree or bush in your way, and there are plenty of those.

Also on multiple occasions the map and minimap are not clear at all. Good luck finding the only entrance of this gigantic area! Is it that way for 2 minutes? nope, wrong way but it looked quite possible though right? haha! Time to backtrack for two other minutes and then take another wrong long way!

What is this game's problem with dropping these goddamn platoons of enemies on top of you while you're already engaged with difficult enem(also the enemies are always like double your level). I just don't understand. This was an issue in the original demo. It wouldn't be as bad if these soldiers weren't twice my level and 2-3 shot me and my squad with their guns
