You're being stubborn.

The car is an additional feature inbetween mount traversal and fast travel. Remove the car entirely and you'd have the standard FF open work mount. Just like in FFXV. So it would work just fine.

And if you wanted faster, you'd fast travel.
based on the scale of the world, the mount and car are definitely comparatively slower to other open world games. Fast travel is also extremely clunky.

I suppose after 10 years you have to finish the game eventually. Its not a killer for me, Chocobos seem to fill the void slightly.

We're making an open world driving game atm and yea, it's much harder than it looks.

When you've used a lot of time making the driving feel tight, some other designers introduce a new element to the world and suddenly your code doesn't work at all anymore. It could be something as simple as driving into an obstacle, to driving up something or heck, even changing surface material.

The long loading and the lack of things to do while driving bothers me, but it becomes less of a hassle as the game goes on and you start realizing that you can simply drive past certain points and warp there.

The game kinda pushes you to do this by putting some low level quests far outta the way, but it's at odds with the leveling up system, since going to certain joints will make you overpowered. Plus, not everyone is going to enjoy roadtripping for five minutes without anything to do (although, I guess it could be argued that one should stop for breaks and use the many camping sights or pick up treasure, but it's not so inciting the hundredth time around).

I disagree. Chocobo feels perfectly in keeping with the standard mount speed.

Fast travel isn't clunky, but that's another conversation...

Who the fuck thinks this is a good idea? Man does this game make me feel bad for being harsh to games like souls, that inappropriately use mobs.

That part made me throw a fit of rage. These bombs are terrible to deal with and I just ran past them every occasion I got
and then you get thrown into an arena where you can't run at all with bombs, hobgoblins and some other crap
.

I don't want to fast travel everywhere. I want to have fun while traveling, but the scale of the world is so massive and the options are so slow that it is not much fun to use either (except chocobos off road, which is nice for exploring sometimes).

Does the hunt level even serve a gameplay purpose aside from unlocking more hunts? I'm only like, level 5, but having to go back and forth is really boring and takes forever.

Nope its a time sink, that could of been a rewarding progression loop, but instead its just blocking you off from fun untill you drive back and forth the same locations killing trash mobs.

You should be able to fast travel to any discovered town/parking spot/camp site/fishing spot from the menu at any time. None of this going back to the car nonsense.

Bombs and flans are the game's way of screaming at you to use the magic system. Every time I see them, I equip Blizzard and let it fly. Both of the groups die in seconds, and if they don't, you simply carve up some ass.

I don't know what to say then. Not sure where you got the expectation of the speed you're after from.

Chocobos feel perfectly in keeping with all other open world mounts I've used in games with similar open world map sizes. I mean, I may be wrong here but if I am I don't think it's by much.

Do you have this issue in general with open world RPGs and thought perhaps FF might fix it as it had a car?

I'm a little confused is all.

I'm taking so much time on Chapter 3. I have to go see Gladio's little sister, but I'm just having so much fun doing side quests. I've spent a few hours just doing them and leveling up lol

Also, the Chocobo riding in this game is so much fun!!

Fuck the
Pitioss secret
Dungeon. I am terrible at platformers so that was an extremely stressful 3 hours to complete that. Thanks shitty jump mechanics and other bullshit in there.

Honestly these bombs in particular had absurd HP when going through the dungeon at the recommended level, to the point I could not one-shot them with magic and they kept spawning new ones. They're also weak to ice while the flans in the same room absorb ice. .___.

The dungeon's boss was easier to deal with than regular enemies.

The size of FFXV's map coupled with the low speed of all of the available vehicles is the problem. There's a reason most open world games are far more condensed than real life is.

Why are you just standing there and simple guarding? If this is how you are playing the game, sorry to tell you but you are doing it wrong.

Magic has been called useless many times here but it would have done wonders here.

Can even activate armiger.
Let me just parry and counter the whole mob and then post a video to GAF.

Magic doesn't output anywhere near enough damage to one or two shot those mobs. I might replay it and just constantly spam the spells though to get through that shitty segment.

Not to mention it's actually hard to get spells off when you can be constantly interrupted due to group attacks.

Combat could've been so much better if bros had good AI. Just fought this Jormugand optional boss in a dungeon and the fight's a mess. Pretty much every attack was a OHKO but all of them are easily avoided, if not for the braindead AI that keeps attacking when he's obviously charging an AOE, or charges head on on his giant fire laser.

It's better to just solo these hard bosses I guess.

Again, I see no variance here from the standard.

Open world RPGs of comparable size have mounts of comparable speed.

Agree to disagree. It has worked great for me for me so far.

In any case, this was like the worst possible way to deal with this scenario. The game never even locks you out in a battle that you cant escape. He could have just run away and his party members would have been revived. It would have been a whole lot better than just standing there while parrying and countering.

Man the forced walking inside dungeons is annoying as hell. What were they thinking? I get that they want to make it immersive, but you have huge areas that you'd like to explore where your only options are walking or go full sprinting when you press the run button, no middle term.

I'm only at chapter 3 though, I don't know if it changes later on, but even in optional dungeons the moment you get close to the entrance the game automatically forces you to walk.

You can bypass that by spamming the jump button, Noctis will be hopping around like a jackrabbit, but you'll get through the dungeons a lot faster. Just be on the lookout for items while zipping by.

Again, I see no variance here from the standard.

Open world RPGs of compatible size have mounts of compatible speed.

Then we either play very different open world games or feel very differently about the travel options within them. Either way it sorta feels like this conversation isn't gonna go anywhere.

Running away doesn't let you beat the segment though. You have to get through that room to clear Castlemark.

Ah fuck.

If you have the right materials, you can do DualCast and hit them with ice AND fire at the same time. They can't keep up with the damage to absorbing ratio if your magic is high enough.

On the topic of recommended levels, they are rarely right! You almost have to be ten levels above and well stocked before fucking around those things.

Man I don't get Gladios skill survival what actually increases it is it just walking and picking up stuff off floor. Why could it not be him writing a book about monsters whack concept art on it and little blurb make more sense then whatever it is now

I doubt we do, and I'd like to read some examples of where you're coming from in terms of comparison to get an idea of what you mean as I feel very lost here and would like the confirmation.

But sure, we don't have to if you don't feel like it.

Hey guys, I just got the royal arm from Ice Cave in Chapter 3 but in the party menu it seens this is actually the 4rd one although I only have 3 of them. Did I skip the third one?

Yeah, I figured this out after clearing all the dungeons, lol. I didn't mind too much, they were relatively challenging and it was fine. But these mobs in particular were a real pain to deal with.

I guess that if you want to go melee only, the game says fuck you to you. Imagine that in Dark Souls rolling dosn't give you i—frames for certain AoE attacks. That would be awful.

I'd prefer to actually play with the combat system, then watch a spell animation play out, or watch the game play itself.
Besides if an encounter requires you to craft a spell using resources, then something is clearly not right.
I'm not surprised Malik is defending this shit, as your comments in the thread throughout show that you have no care for the advancement of game design.

Ahaha I know that place. What a clusterfuck. I remember how you complained about the lone Samurai hunt and thought to myself: "Can't wait until he reaches that area"

I cant believe there are other people actually defending this shit, the game is trying to be an action game,if the game is 100% fair its already bollocks to me, this is just laughable.

I had my doubts about the game prior to release, but honestly couldn't be happier. 20 hours in, Lvl 32 and still on Chapter 3. I love messing around in the world and couldn't care less about the story.

I was also a big fan of FF13, so the second half of the game sounds amazing also.
