The dungeon in the first chapter is hilarious. Like...holy shit.
.....Um.... No..... I've been out in the world exploring for 30 hours
Edit: I'm at 30 hours and I'm still in chapter 3, I think I can say I've done my fair share of exploring
There are some dungeons that gives you a sidequest to explore them after entering so I assume those are optional
Fishing is really fun, btw. Took my time with it
If you've been to a nearby point sure. That's a bandaid though. Nothing says "great open world" than fast traveling everywhere to avoid being in the open world.
That point is silly though, as all "great open worlds" have fast travel. It's a bandaid that must be done if a game is to have a big world.
They're really good. I like how many of them mimic natural caves and other realistic settings, too. I loved the dungeons in this game, they're part of the reason why I ended up liking it despite the major shortcomings in the story department. The dungeons are weird to me. For now they all have been the complete opposite of the rest of the game. They're always a bunch of corridors with a single texture plastered all over , they don't overstay their welcome, and they're surprisingly fun.
They should have been shit, but they aren't. They feel like a last minute addition but with the guy designing them actually trying to do something unique with limited ressources.

Now I don't know about that. Most open worlds also have driving or some other form of traversal that is, y'know, fast and fun.
Chapter 13 ends eventually, right?

Regis had full control of the ring/was stronger, I guess.So... Kingsglaive can teleport to their weapons or specific weapons? Tied to the kings magic. Noctis's crew has the capability to use some of his powers like summoning weapons. Why exactly can they not teleport/phase too? What made Kingsglaive special?
But I don't get to drive. If driving around a beautiful world listening to old FF music isn't fun, I don't know what is.

Some people prefer the good ol' way of riding on a horse that can also glitch out frequently and is unable to jump fences. If driving around a beautiful world listening to old FF music isn't fun, I don't know what is.
How much of my treasure should I be selling? Will I be able to find everything I need for quests as they come? I just found an earth gemstone and it sells for 1500 gil so I'm assuming it's going to be useful lol
Chapter 5, Level 30 with 24 hours logged. I just love exploring the world haha.
Yeah it's a fun minigame. I'm quite surprised how much I like it so far.
But I don't get to drive.
I found a dungeon in Chapter 1 and it said the recommended level wasso obviously I didn't proceed. There must be more in Ch 1 then?50
Only getting to press R2 and slightly turn on a narrow corridor is hardly what anyone would ever call "driving" a vehicle.??? Noctis can drive... the very first chance Ignis offers you to drive instead of him.
Yes, the gameplay is rather bad there, but there is some narrative pay off imo, so hang in there!
Last night I started playing the Florence & the Machine Songs from Final Fantasy XV on iTunes while I was playing, they're actually sooooo good, I wish she made a LP of songs.

You didn't discover any of the royal tombs? No high level boss fights out in open? All of this is cool shit.

"driving"

Hmmm... so you guys wanna be able to drive wild and off the road? I see. But you might as well get a Chocobo or just start running if you wanna do that.
!!!!!!
Oh... you guys are prolly saying the car feels so stiff....

As much as I initially loved the combat, it really shows it's worth against high level bosses. Your team can't dodge boss attacks, and all three teammates get almost insta-KO'd. I'm having to chug potions incessantly, and it's rather ruining what I've enjoyed of the game so far.
Almost no finesse on the players behalf can alleviate the poor teammate design. Trying to use ability invincibility frames doesn't even work, as your meter doesn't fill up fast enough to used for the bosses next insta-KO attack.
The funny part is, this boss in particular only does his attack in a small radius around him, so I can safely get away, yet my AI party members just sit there wailing at him like morons. I have no ability to even shout an order to run away.
Does the hunt level even serve a gameplay purpose aside from unlocking more hunts? I'm only like, level 5, but having to go back and forth is really boring and takes forever.Jesus fucking Christ atleast 8 hunt levels ,why does this grind exist
This is in large part the reason why I don't think the combat is all that great. When it works it's fun and good, but it gets broken way too easily, and it doesn't always gel very well with the encounter design. As much as I initially loved the combat, it really shows it's worth against high level bosses. Nah. No repetition here.Chapter 5 done -Otherwise, still liking it so far.It was pretty nice going all FF Gear Solid on that base to get the regalia back. But how many more times are we gonna have to take down bases? I don't want to just do that back to back to back.
As if to perfectly blend our last two conversations I just found the Malamalam Thicket dungeon randomly and it is great

I only need to finish leveling up Fishing and Cooking for the Platinum trophy, now.

What is this game's problem with dropping these goddamn platoons of enemies on top of you while you're already engaged with difficult enem(also the enemies are always like double your level). I just don't understand. This was an issue in the original demo. It wouldn't be as bad if these soldiers weren't twice my level and 2-3 shot me and my squad with their guns
