Yeah,
there was no build up, and, honestly, I need to be more attached to Luna before I would be more emotionally affected by her death. It definitely feel like they cut a whole lot out of the game.
Yup. There seems to be all kinds of relational buildup between those two just absolutely stricken from the game.
But who cares. I'm here for the "I told ya!"
Oh yeah, watching it I was thinking "Goddammit I knew I'd be right" lol.
Pretty much,
when she took the dagger in the gut, it was of an 'OH SHIT' moment and more of a 'Really?? Okay then.' kinda reaction out of me. I wanted to give a shit, but couldn't.
Absolutely.

I think this issue is obviously magnified in the next chapter by how broken up Noct is over the whole thing. And you the player are just kind of awkwardly sitting there wishing you could give as much of a shit as he did, wishing this was more like an Aerith moment and less of a Jihl Nabaat or Jarred moment.

Is there enough AP to learn every Ascension? Is it doable in reasonable time? By unreasonable, I mean something like Lv99 in SotN unreasonable.

I'm getting destroyed in the cave of the third Ramuh runestone. Level 22 by the way. I somehow made it to
Naga
but right before killing her she just
oneshots the whole team
. Lame af and my motivation is at a new low.

I love the group but the combat system just doesn't click. It did in the demo. I'll have to restock on potions (sigh) and try again but I'm not farming for this. Never ever will I do that.

At the start of Chapter 4 - did I miss a cutscene by choosing not to
camp with Ardyn before continuing on to the Disc
?

Speaking of missed cutscenes, is it still possible to go back and trigger the one with Noctis and Prompto near the beginning of the game? It never triggered for me.

Oh man I'm having so much fun with this game.

Hopefully they fix the frame stuttering on the Pro. I have to play the game in lite mode.

I don't know

It was "press x and something awesome happens". I almost feel asleep pressing square, there wasn't any danger at all.

I mean is visually quite something but gameplay? Yikes.

Yeah, can't disagree there.

Looking back now,
I guess I was just thirsty for some constant pacing to the story. Started with the banter during the boat trip started. Then we got to Altissia, which looked great. Cutscenes following were pretty cool as well, making the agreement with Camilla etc. Then, all the stuff with Leviathan was very dope visually. Couldn't care less about Luna, lol

Thought these things won the chapter for me, but well, different tastes of course.

IDK if this is how I was supposed to interpret it, but the way I saw it
Noct has like 1000 things going on his head between becoming king, his father dying, his kingdom under fire, needing to find a bunch of tombs that are hidden god knows where, still worried about Luna's status and where she is, etc. etc.

That makes sense, but what didn't make sense to me is
Glad being more relieved about seeing her safe and the bros asking a shitton more questions about what happened at Insomnia. And asking about other relatives, friends, etc.

Anyways, I wish
Iris
could be a permanent party member :p

I mean I overall enjoyed the chapter but the
Levi setpiece was underwhelming, cool but Bayonetta pulls these setpiece bosses much better, even if the visuals don't match this.

Just do some side quests and hunts etc... in between your main story missions. There's no need to farm/grind.

Although saying that, the combat in this game is fun enough to support grind for me.

What is it you're having trouble with exactly?

Absolutely loving this game so far, just taking my time doing side quests and hunts despite playing 30h+

Just me who's hyped for chapter 13 after hearing all the bad impressions? :p

Can someone tell me when the game stops being open world? I'd like to play up to that point and then focus on side stuff for a while.

Do everything you gotta do until
Chapter 8. Chapter 9 already is "linear"
. I believe you can go back to the open world in later chapters.

Don't worry, though, the game explicitly asks if you a want to proceed, warning that "you won't be able to access the open world for some time" (they even literally word it like that lol)

Hunts are a lot of fun especially when compared to the story missions so far. Chapter 3 at the moment. The boss at the end of chapter 2 was alright too.

In a weird way I was, then I played it. Buy lots of items and bring lots of spare cash. I really wish I'd known that going in.

Not hyped, but I'm quite interested. At the very least, I hope my ability to appreciate a game going for something different will somehow outweigh whatever it is that has people so worked up.
Probably won't though
Nothing at this point will make me outright hate the game though.

The problem with Ch XIII is not going for something different. It's that it lasts an hour longer than it should have.

So I'm having trouble getting into the game, I really wanted to like it because but so far I'm struggling to. I'm 10 hours in and I am on the waterfall/ice cave mission. So far the main story has been slow to build, I don't have any emotional investment in it yet. Does it pick up soon? All of the side quests feel the same, go to location X, kill monsters, return. They feel so short and repetitive. Do any of them start to have their own stories? I've tried exploring the map but the world feels so sparse and barren. Sure there are trees and rocks, but they feel like placeholders. The combat has also been shit, but I don't have any big spells, just my basic weapons.

Any tips on how to maximize my experience? Do the side quests and main story pick up soon? Starting to feel let down, tbh I was expecting the game to be more like "Final Fantasy XV: Witcher 3 edition" and I let my own hype get me. I feel like this game had so much potential wasted (at least at this point, 10hrs in).

I'm definitely curious.

Along with the narrative issues in Chapter 5, it seems to be the other chapter that receives almost universal criticism.

10 1/2 hours in, Level 20, still in Chapter 2 (guide claims I'm about to start Chapter 2 part 2). I am LOVING it and the combat finally clicked with me today.

I wanted to rush through the story but I just... Can't (maybe that's because there isn't much urgency yet). So this game will take a while. At least, I think so.

Awesome, thanks for the help ^.^

Chapter 13 sounds very interesting given what you think of it.

Hype.

Also, can someone explain to me how summons work ?

Is it completely random ? ( which summon appears and when you can trigger them ?)

What are the pros and cons for using them ? Can you reliably use them ?

Unlocked the final stage of training mode and its fighting the whole group at level 85.

I don't know what the level of the adamantoise is but that is the highest level I've seen in the game so far.

We can't choose them unfortunately, but it is based on the area you're in as well as if you're inside/outside.

"TURN THE ROD TOWARD THE FISH!"

Fuck you Iggy, I don't tell you how to cook your endless "new recipehhhs" so stop making out you're this master angler.

I like him really but some of his line readings make him sound like such a dick.

18 hours in and pretty sure I'm at the final boss
Ardyn chapter 14/
.
I feel super underleveled though since I'm only level 34~35, so I'm gonna go back and do some more side stuff.

Surprised since this seems end game and I still haven't seen any of the three things that appear on the box art of the game.

Summons are random. They decide when to help you. I think one of them needs a specific kind of environment to be nearby in order to be summoned (You can guess which one).

Pros? They annihilate all your enemies and can save you from certain death.

Negatives? I think you don't get EXP from the enemies killed by the summon.

I just played Final Fantasy XV for the first time. Holy shit the graphics are amazing! (playing on Pro, switching between High and Lite resolution). Love the characters too and the huge scope of the game.

I just hit level 37 after starting chapter 6. I'm 23h in, I think I will try to explore the optional dungeons and obtain the airship and then focus on the main story.

I love how the graphics of the Luminous Engine look and hope it can return with FF16, somehow, and I sure SE will significantly change the way it develops huge games. Maybe combine the most advanced version of Unreal Engine 4 and its ease of development with the best aspects of Luminous Studio / Engine rendering, and the power of next generation consoles (PS5). Because I'm not sure FF16 will be made for current consoles, you know, it's not like it could be made & released until 2021-2022 at the soonest. I hope FF16 is like Agni's Philosophy. But I'm getting way, way ahead of things ;)

Just received my deluxe edition today. Im dissapointed in the contents of the deluxe, should have thrown in the season pass for £70.

I love this game, just running round farming items engaging in side quest without touching the main story. Is there a way to lay down multiple markers on the map?

I hope they never build their own engine again and go grab UE4 and use that as their foundation for the next FF game. I just want them to have the smoothest development possible so they can focus on story and gameplay/design.

Expecting something like TW3 was weird, this game was never going to be like that.

I love TW3, and even though XV's world is technically more barren I find it much more fun to explore.

Probably because traversal and combat are actually good in XV. :p

If you're finding the combat experience poor, I recommend watching some tutorials. It's very fluid once you understand how it works, maybe it will click for you once you delve a little deeper into its systems.

Just checking in. How's everyone enjoying the game?

So far 9/10 loving it. I'm. Only at chapter 6 though, taking my time sweetly.

This might even become my GOTY.
