Just started exploring this area, one of my favorites. Love the sea. You can also
find Jared's tombstone in this are. It's cool, even though it's hard to care for the guy considering how the story treats him lmao...

Just finished the game. Loved it overall, but there is a huge problem with the plot, and it's the following

Niflheim could have been written out of the game entirely and the game's main plot would not have changed. All these years, we've been teased about Niflheim, their king, their generals, and all they turn out to be are a plot device to give an excuse for the existence of the demons (I know that's not the correct spelling) and the endless night. Even then, they could've been written out of the game and have the demons and eternal night be a threat the world faced for a long time anyways, and it wouldn't have changed much.

All this talk about reclaiming your throne from the enemy empire, and by halfway through the story, there is no empire to take back the throne from. Noctis and crew don't even have any interaction with the empire throughout the entire story. The only ones they DO interact with are the prince of a kingdom annexed by the empire, a mercenary hired by the empire, and an ancient and immortal king of Lucis. NONE FROM THE EMPIRE.

It's really disappointing.

This "Cool Calatein Mists" quest has me ready to quit the game. I can't even get to the goddamn quest marker because it's surrounded by arbitrary rock walls and high guard rails you can't jump over. And it's a fucking night quest too, so driving there is rife with enemy interruptions. It's an aggressive waste of my time.

Wtf @ Noct being a dick to Iris. Chapter 3:

"Wow this looks fun!"
Grunt.

"Don't you think this is pretty cool?"
"Mmm..."

Anyone else with a surround sound system find the rear speaker volume to be fucking crazy loud? I've turned them down a fair amount from the norm in my receiver and noises are still cranked in them.

So I got to the bit where you get a notification saying you've been given the beast whistle, noticed the game saved and turned the game off.

Loaded the game back up a bit later to find I don't have the best whistle in the whistle menu. Has it some how glitched or am I missing something like needing to buy it?

Fake illness. Lie in bed for half a day then tell everyone you're really sorry you can't enjoy the company and you're really bored.

When they start making suggestions on how to alleviate your boredom, steer them toward putting a tv/ps4 in your room. If it's already in your room, you've already won!

For real though, just because you have a guest you can't get any alone time? Sounds harsh dude.

I could and I might, but not the extended periods of time I've been having to play. It's an old friend, and he's spending money & vacation time. We planned this before the FFXV delay lol :(

This is absolute beauty.

If only it was just 'hard'.

It's stupidly designed. I'm certain some designer was just trying to troll the players, as no other dungeon has a design like this.
This is just stupid. I'm running low on inventory and I brought a shit ton with me into this dungeon.

I posted a video of the second room in their earlier and people were actually defending it, which is just maddening.

mm you done them all? The lack of super bosses that arent reskins of enemys and my experience here told me that id be better off just trading the game in, but if the end game stuff isnt all this maybe ill give it more of a go

Same. I had to escape that shit. Mostly because my camera glitched (It was stuck in place, I could not rotate it in any way, shape or form, making exploration pretty much impossible). Can you even IMAGINE being in there with a camera that DOESN'T MOVE?

The idea of going back in and being thrown into a 4x4 feet arena with 30 monsters is not exactly something I want to go back to.

Yeah.. I'm at Chapter 10 and Gladio is probably by far my least favorite of the four. What an ass.

I don't dislike any of the characters, but he was definitely my least favorite.
I actually really appreciate his role in introducing some much needed conflict among the party, but think that it could have been written in better. As it was it felt a little bit forced.

IDK if this is how I was supposed to interpret it, but the way I saw it
Noct has like 1000 things going on his head between becoming king, his father dying, his kingdom under fire, needing to find a bunch of tombs that are hidden god knows where, still worried about Luna's status and where she is, etc. etc.

So, I'm trying to refight the Bandersnatch again and don't see it anywhere. Is it one of the Daemons and only appears at night?

Also, out of curiosity, do we have a list of Daemons?

That's what happens with
development hell and deadlines. You cut out everything and streamline what you can rewrite.

It was easier for Tabata to focus on Ardyn as the main bad guy over focusing on the actual empire, so he used the empire as just a backround for Ardyn's machinations.

Its messy and dumb though because most of the movie kingsglaive was specifically based on the warring nations aspect, so blatantly rewriting the game to get rid of those elements because you could not fit them into a compelling narrative in time for launch is very rough.

According to Tabata, they knew about the 2016 deadline for years now, so i guess there came a point where they just decided to fuck it and throw everything out.

I don't have an issue with that, but they could have edited the story significantly more in order to make it more condensed. Get rid of ravus, get rid of the military entirely. Get rid of the military invasion and NIfleheim entirely and make the game about the demons overrunning Insomnia thanks to Adryn, who is revealed throughout the game to be the reason the demons and the nights getting longer.

Then they could have focused a bit more on Luna's oracle duties and such.

I agree
the things he said needed to be said. Noctis was in shock and now wasn't the time to grieve. But he just lost someone that meant the world to him. Not the time to be so needlessly cruel lol.

I dont hate gladio has much as i do the writing team, hes always so forced. It was bad during the titan bit, but this bit was just like "would gladio really say that?", like it was just horrible.

Wait...

Regarding Chapter 9... that was it? I liked it very much (except for the
terribly designed Leviathan battle AND Luna being... dead? Already? LOL
)

Did people hate on it because of stuff I mentioned in spoilers?

Chapter 9 was fantastic. I loved
the Leviathan setpiece.

I don't like gladio or Iggy as much. But
What gladio did absolutely needed to be done because it seemed like no one else was going to do it. Prompto was defending him no matter what, iggy spoils him a bit. So I'm glad someone gave him that good kick. And me and my wife was cracking up how he would avoid u Nd huff and puff in the train

Mainly for that really bad
Leviathan setpiece / boss fight
and some pretty important stuff happening off screen.

I loved Chapter 9. I can easily see why others wouldn't but it felt really epic to me.

I think I loved it a lot because it surpassed by expectations with
Noctis going god mode. The rest of the fight was pretty much how I expected it to play out while watching the E3 2013 trailer.

Never have played Final Fantasy till this one. I just don't enjoy the turn based style,so when they announced action combat I was interested. I have been playing it here and there, not really enjoying until last night.

As soon as I got the chocobo and we were all running around the forest ,something clicked with me. I played about 8 hours straight last night and looking forward to playing when I get off work.

So I'm just exploring in chapter 2 and decide to visit the Balouve Mines, and boy these Goblins are so easy to defeat since I'm level 12. And so I go deeper...

and a lvl 52 samurai from hell kills my team. Took me a while to find a back cave to escape since the ladder and x related actions are null. Yikes... did not expect that
:-o

Pretty nice seeing
the Midgarworm outside the waterfall
in chapter 3. Still had the Masamune equiped and was tempted to start the fight against it.

Finally finished Chapter 13.

It's really an absolute masterpiece. I hope that the chapter is shown at GDC for years to come in presentations on how to not design your video game.
