Driving has been an abysmal experience for me so far.

Ef this noise. Mine still hasn't shipped either.

Next time I'll just preorder at GameStop or something. If I don't get this tomorrow will I break and go buy a physical copy?

An amazon refund for a delivery beyond the launch day should cost you absolutely nothing. I always suggest that people buy it locally and refund in this scenario because (a) you get to play your game on time and (b) it incentivizes amazon to stop screwing up release day deliveries.

Only reason I preordered from Amazon was because they give me a Prime discount. But it went from like a $16 to like a $4 discount... And now the game still hasn't shipped.

Mine "shipped" from Best Buy two days ago but Fed Ex still hasn't picked it up. I hate Fed Ex. I have issues with them every single time.

Yeah driving is boring because it's entirely on rails. I only ever drive once everywhere and then use quick travel.

You know, I'm actually really looking forward to driving as classic-FF-jukebox time.

Will take under advisement...

If you are looking for it, sure that will get in the way. If you are the type of person that is OCD about every little detail, then I don't see how a person like that could enjoy any game.

EDIT: Yes, for me. And for millions of other people that will probably need it pointed it out to them to even notice it.

Personally, the garbage AF in LQ mode triggers the shit out of me so I understand becoming obsessive over frametimes or other technical shortcomings

I bought my copy off ebay. Arrived on the 26th and was almost €20 cheaper than MSRP.

I do that for every physical game I buy early.

Do I have to manually trigger the Xbox One update or is it simply not out yet? I've had the Xbox on in standby for hours waiting for the patch, could have spent that time playing instead :(

So, i just had a surprisingly well paced Judgement Disc section of the game.

Unlike demo, where I didn;t care about pacing and just wanted to do stuff, here, I only did things within reason. I did few hunts here and htere and sidequests I actively ran across, but I didn't stick around doing everything I can get my hands on. As a result, I actually got a very natural pacing of the game, where it all felt delibirate. Even the end of that section worked out perfeclty.

I arrive at Galdyn, I met Ardyn, he goes to insomnia. I spend a day doing some stuff and by the time I returned to reporter to talk about the ferry, it was night, so he tells me that it'll arrive in the morning and my group goes to sleep. They wake up to the news, which makes sense, as the same day they'd see Ardyn passing them by would be the day all shit goes down.

Everything worked out as if it was a linear controlled narrative and I didn't schedule myself specifically to make that happen. It just happened because I played "naturally" and sort of paced myself in a way that felt like it made sense. But here's the problem. "Pacing yourself naturally" is a really subjective thing and I can imagine people who spend so much time doing stuff in the first area, their timeline is all over the whack... And that is what makes this game work. I just got a steady narrative, some simple lighthearted distractions, before plot kicked off, in a way that felt directed, as if intended by devs. Somebody will not end up stumbling into this perfect arrangement.

I guess these are woes of having to marry linear narrative and open world structure...

Yea. I don't see how they could have made the driving more interesting. It's pretty much long loading screen that lets you listen to some great music and look at some beautiful scenery. I always put it in auto cause Noct is the prince he shouldn't drive. Chocobos are the real cars.

Well I've never been into FF ( tried a few, never finish) and JRPG's ate always hit or miss for me, but so far ( 12hrs or so in ) I'm loving this game.

What's up with you guys? It doesn't affect you, great. Quit trying to quiet the people it does.

You need someone to point out to you that the game keeps freezing ?

This sounds pretty good to me.

I'm not trying to quite anything. Just saying it's overblown.

Is that what I'm suppose to be seeing? Because that hasn't happened.

It's not overblown though. The game will "slow down" at times when in high mode and its quite obvious to me.

The difference in IQ is negligible to me and I prefer to have a more solid experience. If you don't notice that lite mode is smoother, then high mode works for you!

I was looking at past interviews yesterday and it took me back.

All the times Nomura said "development on Final Fantasy Versus XIII is progressing smoothly (laughs)."

We have come so far.

Cool. I hope you guys spend this whole thread being concerned over something extremely minimal to the enjoyment of the actual game.

I remember shit like Nomura showing Famitsu screenshots and they were blown away, but of course we couldn't see them.

lol

it doesn't bother you, it bothers some of us. it's there, people should be informed of it.

i am 15h in and loving the game. just because i see it and i dislike it doesn't preclude me from enjoying the game.

Is anyone experiencing the problem of not being able to purchase the game from the EU PS Store? It's coming up with the Digital Edition but no option for payment, really wanted to get this downloaded overnight so it was ready when I get back from work tommorow.

Edit: It's up now, phew!
