Depends on the player. Short answer: it's not as good.
Long answer:
There's one chapter that changes up gameplay and takes far too long to complete. It uses bland, repetitive environments and is an obvious drop in quality.
The narrative ends very strongly, but leading up to the end it becomes incredibly disjointed at times which can leave the experience feeling rushed/incomplete.
Saying this, the game is still or of my favorite FF main lines. Possibly only 7 beating it out. The open world (which you can return to at any time) is vast and the gameplay systems within incredibly enjoyable. The relationships between the bros is utterly charming and even post-game all of these things pull me back.
If you adore the game your feelings very likely won't change, they will probably just realign a little. It's very apparent where concessions were made due to the troubled development, but overall if you loved the first half it won't make you forget that.
Usually with games like this the ending can put me off returning to complete post game activities, but this time it just feels perfect.
And I've always said that the prompt wasn't clear because holding down the button does nothing for far too long. Are we really going to get into a "well maybe you should read my posts" argument?
The answer is no, because I'm just going to flick you on ignore so I don't have to read your posts.
Again, I was literally just talking about the prompt itself, not the fact that it takes to long for an action to occur or that there should be some kind of progress bar included etc...
Not having to read your thoughtless replies/unnecessary snark will be a relief, thank you.
