The game teaches you that holding down buttons will also have some kind of response, not multiple seconds of nothing happening. That said, Noct could get off the Chocobo faster.

.

The conversation we were having previously was literally just about the button prompt itself, that a down yellow triangle on a button icon means hold. That the game shows you this multiple times before you summon.

Absolutely had nothing to do with anything surrounding it.

I've been playing this game since friday and I am absolutely in love <3

The music is outstanding, the combat, the graphics, everything!!

Thank you FF team for making this

PS: Did I say that the music is amazing? Jesus, the combat theme gives me chills

I maintain that it's stupid as hell that holding down the button and getting no indication from the game that it's having any effect. It's terrible. That's always been my stance.

Oh you can't sprint in chapter 13.

I don't think Tabata's ever played a video game guys.

It's pretty simple, you either agree that the methods behind summons suck or you're objectively wrong. We don't deal in middle grounds here.

Each region has separate trophies. Not that common but it does happen.

I don't think it's the reason why, but SE will get a couple of people buying different region copies so they could get multiple platinums. There are a few people that obsessed.

No other FF game does it. They just fucked up. Especially as they translated them to english too.

Oh well.

And can i just say...
Is this the easiest platinum in an FF game? Jeez

I never once disagreed with this. I was literally only saying the button icon itself makes perfect sense.

Please read my posts before replying Zero, I've always been abundantly clear on this.

You should be able to get out of the dungeon, save and then reload the save. I did that with the sewers and worked. You should not have to kill the adds again this way.

Edit: NVM I missread your comment. I guess reloading a save or let yourself die to trigger an intermidiate load status is the only way.

That, or cheezing him with magic and ranged attacks. :b

Oh wel

It's a pretty damn minor thing, and it's hard to call it a fuck up because there are a group of players who prefer separate trophy lists. Eh.

And I've always said that the prompt wasn't clear because holding down the button does nothing for far too long. Are we really going to get into a "well maybe you should read my posts" argument?

The answer is no, because I'm just going to flick you on ignore so I don't have to read your posts.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
The second half is bad?
The open world is gone. That's not bad, necessarily, but YMMV depending on how much you like the bigger emphasis on linear storytelling.

I had to read online how to call the summon. I'd hold down L2 for as long as I felt needed but without any visible indication I would never hold it long enough. It's certainly a flawed design.

Stand still and hold it for ages. It's stupid, except for that one person in the thread who thinks it makes perfect sense.

All the button prompts in the game are so unintuitive. Like any competent game design would have clear feedback when some action registers. Like how hard is it to show a progress bar if its a charge move.

I'm at chapter 6 or something and I have yet to figure out if you are supposed to hold block when prompted or press it. The results seems random in either case. Mostly holding buttons seems the way to go in this game, but sometimes the block does nothing. Again, no feedback if my timing is off or whatever. Sometimes I get hit and sometimes I counter.

Same with teleporting to the targets marked with triangle. Pressing triangle does nothing, you have to hold it.

There might be a solid battle system there somewhere, but I just feel the game does a bad job at communicating anything really.

The second half is bad?

Depends on the player. Short answer: it's not as good.

Long answer:

There's one chapter that changes up gameplay and takes far too long to complete. It uses bland, repetitive environments and is an obvious drop in quality.

The narrative ends very strongly, but leading up to the end it becomes incredibly disjointed at times which can leave the experience feeling rushed/incomplete.

Saying this, the game is still or of my favorite FF main lines. Possibly only 7 beating it out. The open world (which you can return to at any time) is vast and the gameplay systems within incredibly enjoyable. The relationships between the bros is utterly charming and even post-game all of these things pull me back.

If you adore the game your feelings very likely won't change, they will probably just realign a little. It's very apparent where concessions were made due to the troubled development, but overall if you loved the first half it won't make you forget that.

Usually with games like this the ending can put me off returning to complete post game activities, but this time it just feels perfect.

And I've always said that the prompt wasn't clear because holding down the button does nothing for far too long. Are we really going to get into a "well maybe you should read my posts" argument?

The answer is no, because I'm just going to flick you on ignore so I don't have to read your posts.

Again, I was literally just talking about the prompt itself, not the fact that it takes to long for an action to occur or that there should be some kind of progress bar included etc...

Not having to read your thoughtless replies/unnecessary snark will be a relief, thank you.

I like how Cindy makes the prince of her kingdom play pest control and hunt fucking rodents.

Shit needs to be done, Noct on the run. May as well abuse his princely good nature.

(But yeh, they could have at least switched rodents for daemons or something to make it seem like a worthy task).

Dunno, for me it was pretty intuitive. The music and the whole atmosphere changed. Then the icon for hold L2 was on screen and I was just holding it down until the summoning started.

I have no idea how this can be troublesome.

People not paying attention to the various prompt icons during play plus the fact there's no indication that holding is doing anything until the summon suddenly triggers.

It could definitely have used a progress bar.

I take it that the game becomes super linear after chapter 6? Should I finish all the sidequests/hunts beforehand?

Chapter 9.

You can return to the open world via any lodgings though, so dw.

Why does Ignis just sit there silently for 10 seconds every time before he starts talking about driving at night, it's like it's loading something

About to jump in, and sorry if this has been asked and answered a million times already:

Is it absolutely necessary to watch Kingsglaive to understand the story? Heard the movie isn't very good so I don't really want to watch it..

There's quite a lot of delay jank in this game, almost makes it feel like it's online at times.

Often picking up an item, for example, will have a 1-2 second delay before the item feed shows what you found and the pick up sound plays.

I think people don't like the second half because the open world formula covering up the game's flaws is gone.

I enjoyed the second half for what it was probably because I was already well aware of them.
First half is kinda a smoke and mirrors situation. It is kinda smart and probably the right choice in the end considering what they had on their hands.

Absolutely necessary? No, but it will definitely help a good deal.

If you have not watched Brotherhood, definitely do that as well.

I heard the movie wasn't good but watched it anyway. The movie is good and worth a watch. It will just give you some brief back story to the warring kingdoms and background characters.

Not necessary to understand, but it absolutely will flesh out the world for you in ways the game won't.

If you're interested in the backstory of the royal kingdom, you should watch it. It's very pretty and the action is great, it's no Oscar contender but it isn't dreadful either.

"Second half" is such a weird thing to call the latter chapters. It's probably like 70% of the story and 5% of the overall gameplay if you're including sidequests. And even that's generous.

It's referring to the open world to linear switch, not the actual length.

What is up with Ignis' accent? Is he foreign? Is there a Final Fantasy Britain? Did he have an accent in the Japanese?

Just finished the game. I understand the complaints about the second half, but the last part completely made up for it.

Unfortunate that troubled development meant they may not have been able to give us their end-vision for the game. But, what they did give us is one of my favorite games of all time.

There is so much easily fixable stupid shit in this that I'm tempted to see wait and see what they come up with in the December patch.

So interesting but I didn't initially know this. The direction of the analog stick also influences your weapons' special abilities. Kind of like devil may cry. It also seems the heavy weapon has a sort of timing based combo. Where if you press O, then delay a bit, then press forward and O you'll do this cyclone attack with the heavy sword.

You guys should mess around with that.

Just arrived in chapter 2 after 3 hours of playing.

In constrained area fights, I'm just button mashing because I have no idea where Noctis actually is.
Camera is bad in those cases.

Stuff like the tiny window for picking up/interacting with icons, camera, trees getting in the way, only being able to take one hunt/having to backtrack to hand in, etc...

So much stuff that could be patched.

New game+, hard mode, tonnes of fixes please.

A little LTTP there dude. :p

How about holding X after jumping to auto pick up multiple items? That might be new for you.

Yea but most the stuff seems to come from tabbys vision for the game......which basically involves the game being a tech demo of realistic fantasy rather than a fun game.

I have 2 tricks to give :

1. When magitech soldiers arrives in their dropship, equip a lightning spell, then cast it just as the troups drop down, it will decimate like 80% out of them from the start!

2. If you want to skip to the night, just go to a diner that offer a night hunt, it will ask you if you want to skip to night time. No need to undergo that quest though.

Also,
Gentianna is a fucking ghost! She appeared out of nowhere in one of my photograph in the background. That was creepy ! And I got a trophy for it, but I don't know if it was really for that, though.

The second half is bad?
Currently at ch 12 i think. The second half is not necessarily bad, i just think the pacing is toooo fast and there are a lot of things that dont make sense. You'll be doing one thing at some point and suddenly the chapter ends and during the load screen you will read like 3 sentences about whats happening after which the game throws you to another objective in the main story. Its just not a cohesive story for me in the later chapters. I'm still enjoying the game though!

I've been avoiding the thread due to spoilers and negative waves but i'm popping in to say i'm really enjoying the game. I'm 15 hours in i think, level 14 and just made it down to the beach :) I reckon i'm going to be slightly OP or even properly levelled in an rpg for once! It's been years and years since that has happened, there again i'm going to be practising combat tonight as i am rubbish at blocking unless the icon flashes up so i may churn through a level or two practising that.

I did have a NOPE moment though. Was out looking for some scraps of paper and entered a dungeon for a look and quickly exited the dungeon when the beasties were tens of levels above me! lol!

I also watched Kingsglaive and brotherhood over the weekend and yeah, they're not essential but Kingsglaive did give me the backdrop of the world events and Brotherhood gives an understanding of the 4 main characters. I'd say they've helped put the game into context for sure.

It's called a finisher in the strategy book and it have a different one depending of the type of weapon used.

Who was in charge of encounter design?

3 Red Giants? The problem isn't that they hit hard, it's that their magnet move REQUIRES you to mindless run away, and they SPAM it. Their AI is such, that with 3 of them, you get on avergae 3 seconds on breathing time between those moves. And I remind you, it's physically impossible to continue fighitng while that move is active...

He didn't have an accent in the Japanese, so after first hearing the English dub in the full game it was a bit jarring. I got used to it, though, and it grew on me.

You've not hit the part that drags it down yet, second half I mean.

So, for the duration of this dungeon, i switched to Easy. Twice in 30 minutes, I got the same kind of glitch, i refuse to let it fuck me over before I finish this dungeon. If SE doesn't like it, Tabata is free to get off his ass and prepare another patch >_<

Also, a question. If I use a teleporter in the dungeon, walk out and save, then go back, will my progress remain, or will monsters respawn?
