I just looked at the list of items to use ascension coins in and it looks heavily disappointing. Guess I add one more disappointment to this game.
I mostly haven't tried lances. I've been using the Zwill Crossblades (best daggers in game) for stuff like circling. There's also less end-game lances so I'm worried that would affect Ignis. My concern about aerial dancing is that it won't be useful in this last dungeon (Castlemark Sealed) as there are no warp points for auto-refill. I'm not sure how well the unlimited aerial dancing will work with the daggers. The other potential issue is that aerial dancing makes it harder to block which will be a particular area of concern in this Sealed Dungeon.Oi unlimited airstep + lance turns Noctis into an aerial monster. Super agile, nonstop damage, easy to circle around monsters, dive out of range, etc.
With how warp points work with insta-refilling MP, it's sustainable.
Can anyone give me a run down on the general consensus of this game right now that there has been time for the dust to settle for a bit. I will have D2 finished by the end of this week and will want to pick something new up soon and I really cant tell if I will like this or not.
what ended up good, what bad and what kinda just OK?
Two questions:
Where can I find the exp boosting food?
Where is the hunt for the monsters that can reward the helixhorn?
Thanks
I leveled up from lvl 38 to 60 in one boost, and it has made absolutely no difference to Ignis and Prompto being wiped out all the time. And there's nothing I can do about it.
At this stage Noctis has 6.5k HP and Prompto still has 3k. The balance here is completely off. All Ignis is good for is one 'Enhancement' per battle before he dies. (Although to be fair that's one fantastic ability.)
I wish they had spent more time balancing this battle system for your other party members.
...how are Prompto and Ignis dying so often? Have you given them accessories and the like to help? Apart from like one or two boss fights I decided to tackle earlier than I should have, I haven't had this issue
Two questions:
Where can I find the exp boosting food?
Thanks
There's a 50% food at the Wiz Chocobo Post (costs 1,100 gil), and a 100% food at the bar in Altissia (costs 8,000 gil).
The food no idea, for the helixhorn Level29 Hunt old Lestallum outpost

I'm pretty sure this is what's going to happen. Take all the lessons learned from FFXV and apply them to FF7R.It'd be hilarious if the final fantasy 7 remake ends up reviewing higher and a better game. Where the remake of an old game with a new battle system and prettier modern graphics ends up as a better modern final fantasy
Edit:I heard there's someone who trades you coins for better weapons. Where is this person?
I'm pretty sure this is what's going to happen. Take all the lessons learned from FFXV and apply them to FF7R.
I've given them the best accessories I have that (after Noctis - he comes first). At this stage I've actually already started getting some of the character-specific special accessories.
Ignis and Prompto die within 20 seconds of any battle near my level. The only way to keep them alive is to abuse the i-frame granted by Techniques. It's to the point where Ignis and Gladio are 10-15 whole levels below Noctis because they often get no experience.
Granted, on my journey from 38-60 I was regularly tackling content that was lvls 45-55 at lvl 38 but it was absolutely nothing Noctis and Gladio couldn't handle so it was frustrating seeing the other two so unbalanced by comparison.
They really fucked up with timing on that stuff. They need to release a patch that tones it down because it is ridiculous. Also f that quest. The stone isn't even technically in the circle on your mini map.Fuck those imperial stalkers. They making my quest on Dino's amethyst stone harder. Lol
First FF for me since X. I am really liking it so far.
Few questions.
Can I only scan enemies in "wait" fight mode?
Selling items, what category can I sell without worry? Do items vary depending on buyer ? Do all items have a purpose? Or are some just ment to sell for Gill?
What happens when I fill my 99 elemental inventory? Does casting spell deplete that?
Thanks
I guess it take 3 years to stitch together a bad game. Same amount of time to make a good game.....
I hope lessons are learned from this game in general. I'm hoping they are, especially lesson learned in open world game design because I have a feeling SE isn't done with this type of game just yet.I'm pretty sure this is what's going to happen. There's no consensus, playerbase appears split between two camps:
"It's flawed but I really enjoyed it" and
"It is an unfinished disaster".
My take:
The good:
Prompto's photography feature
The summons
The music (some of it is mediocre - towns - but much of it is spectacular)
The mixed:
The battle system
The visuals
The main four bros
The dungeons
The bad:
The story is worthless; pacing terrible; crucial plot points unexplained or pushed to other media
Performance is terrible throughout
Terrible as an open world game - poor traversal options; invisible walls everywhere; scale of the world is too big so it takes forever to get anywhere; nothing interesting to just 'stumble upon' out in the wild
Side-content is garbage fetch quests and repetitive hunts, both of which are 90% getting to your destination
Towns are lol-worthy
No customisation and the growth of your character isn't much fun, there are few meaningful 'RPG' character building options
Major boss battles are glitchy wonky silliness
I'd give it 4/10, worst open world game I've played.
Haven't beaten it just yet, but basically if you're really liking what you've seen from the combat and prioritize gameplay over the story, it's worth getting, as it, along with the dungeons and monster designs, make it a lot easier to overlook the game's flaws. If that doesn't matter, and you really can't stand an disjointed plot that tends to leave you with more questions than answers, then you should probably skip it, or wait for it to be cheaper.
Any help? This is buried a few pages in.

I think imperials have fixed spawn points and some of them are in quests objectives. Two of Dino's quests have their objectives in an imperial spawn, for example.
That Amethyst quest, I died once and went there several times in different days. In all of them, imperials spawned, and when I killed them, they came back over and over.
I agree. It badly need of a patch on this. It's getting annoying especially since they are like 10 soldiers you are fighting with. They even have a mechanism with it sometimes. LolThey really fucked up with timing on that stuff. They need to release a patch that tones it down because it is ridiculous. Also f that quest. LMAO I was legit thinking this so far. It's the only big issue I have with the game early in chapter 4. Where the fuck are the cinematics Tabata? Even some of their non-cinematic convos seem like they end early when he gets hisFuck sake with this story
Everything really IS off screen.

And the dude with purple hair. No body can tell me the guy doesn't have the Seymour 2.0 vibes from FFX.
Does this game have fishing? What minigames does it have?
This is looking close to what I was worried about from what I have seen.
I honeslty dont care if a games story is bad but I have to say the combat I have seen and heard how its played hasn't been to inspiring to me. Holding down a button to attack and dodge seems a bit boring to me. It simply looks OK but obviously I havnt played it yet.
--------------------------------------------
It all looks a bit anime with the stylings of the cast, one note personalities etc. I havn't really been into that sort of thing since my teen years (I watched Attack on Titan recently and its the first anime thing I have bothered to watch in maybe 15 years, i enjoyed it for its concept but the characters I mostly hated lol). Is it strongly like that in this game throughout?
Thanks for the thoughts guys.
I didn't know he was a villain but thanks for the confirmation famo :SLiterally every scene gets cut short other than maybe one or two IMO. Can't agree on Seymour though. Hated that guy and I love Ardyn as a villain.
Two questions. Firstly where's that triple xp hotel? Secondly is there something I'm missing with the fishing? It's hard as hell and now some dude wants me to catch a fish that only shows at dusk or dawn which seems unreasonable given how hard it is to hook anything.
I got to chp14 at lvl 41 but everything now is way high lvl for me. I cant even progress! Am I fcked? Or am I just doing something wrong?
My last hard saves are at chp 6 and 9.
Leveled from 23 to 37 in Chapter three then mainlined through to chapter 6. Is there a point when a bunch of new side quests open up that I can build up a bunch of XP in again?
Maybe you gonna love the battle system, maybe you gonna hate. But it's definitely not boring, belive me
And except for the visuals (specially the hair) there's almost nothing "anime" on the game
And if you want a general opinion, I don't remember the last time that I had so much fun playing a game. Run with a chocobo through the world feels incredible, the dungeons are the best of any JRPG, and the character interactions make you care about them

Can someone give me some tips for the combat? Lock on, don't lock on?
I'm pressing circle to attack and holding it.
Dodging sucks because there aren't really any queues to see when you're fighting 4 or 5 enemies at a time.
Should I involve the people in my party a bit more?
Should I use more potions?
Should I try playing this more like a Dark Souls game?
Seems like the combat is all over the place in this game...
Nah, because this has the opposite problem of FF13. All of the horrible parts are at the end instead of the beginning.
Not worth buying, imo. Last half of the game is the worst garbage I've ever had the misfortune of playing. The only reason I'm trudging along is because I have enjoyed the gameplay and want to get to the final dungeons, and I've invested too much time to stop from getting there.
This game is 3 or 4/10. Don't know how it reviewed so well. Fucking awful.
Even if you like the gameplay, the last chapters are so fucking awful.
Jesus christ. It's an insult to gamers everywhere.

This game is going to savaged in the retrospectives.
