I was over leveled for Chapter 13. It helps that I likedthe idea of Ardyn just fucking with you like he has for most of the game, just a lot more so now. So I guess I liked character development wise and story wise.
Also it's pretty easy to break.
It's not terrible in itself but it is horribly placed, ruined the momentum of the game, and lasted 2 hours too long.
I don't understand why Square didn't cut that shit. sigh
gonna make replays awful.
BUT the ending realllyyyyyy grew on me. Very emotional.
I have three questions guys, I am looking for OST things.
The song that plays during the epilogue.
The main theme on title screen post game.
And the song that plays when Noctis (last chapter spoiler)is in the car with talbot (or whatever his name is, the kid that grew up)
Pls. I NEED them.
It's not the length, it's what the game actually has you doing. At least the worst part didn't last super long.
In addition to this, Reddit has a lot if great tips like:
"PSA: how to avoid noctis constantly jumping when trying to use X for interaction (pick up stuff, talk to someone, etc.) Hold down the "walk slowly"-button before pressing X, this will somehow prioritize the action you want to do rather than the jumping. The "walk slowly"-button is the block button while out of combat. On Control-type C it is L2, on A it should probably be Square. Give it a try !"
...Also hold down R3 to take the top down of the Regalia.
- Get the Regroup and Enchantment skills for Ignis. Both are very helpful in their own ways, particularly Regroup, which saves you from having to use potions/elixirs as much.
- Put AP in Exploration skills that give you free AP for stuff you'd do normally, like driving, camping, riding a chocobo, fishing if you're into that, etc. It pays off eventually
- At some point (I got it around Ch. 3 personally, but I'm pretty overleveled in general lol), I highly advise you to obtain the Airdance skill (along with Osmostrike). It just makes combat so much far satisfying, being able to zip around the air like that for virtually as long as you want. It's one of those skills that just makes the combat click for you, if it hadn't already.
- Prompto dies a lot. Try to help him as much as possible through equipping accessories that increase his Vitality (Defense) and/or HP. There's a skill for all 4 characters that lets you wear two and even three accessories, as opposed to just one, so keep that in mind as well.
- There's a 2x hotel that you can access early on, and a 3x Hotel in (This lists just the Ch. number, feel free to look at it). So if you're the type that loves the idea of overleveling, keep that in mind if you want to take full advantage of how much exp you can potentially gain.Ch. 9
- At nighttime, Iron Giants sometimes appear. When you first start off, you're not exactly in the position to defeat them comfortably. But if you're really intent on defeating them, the trick is to wait until morning. The sunlight is like poison to them, slowly eating away at their HP. So long as you're in the red circle (Go out of it, and the battle ends) as they're dying from exp, you can beat them through this method. Easy way to get a lot of exp when you are first starting out.
- Go with Control Type B. The reason for this is that it allows you to comfortably hold both the attack and defend buttons at the same time. Control Type A is flawed in that it makes it much more difficult, due to the buttons being so close to one another. Control Type C is also another alternative. Basically, just don't use Control Type A. I don't care if you're perhaps already used to it, just get used to something else lol
Get Regroup for Ignis, you can heal the party and gather them in 1 place to use magic.30 hours in and at chapter 7 so far. I'm loving everything about the game EXCEPT the combat. Can't use magic at all because it just kills my team mates, and I completely hate relying on items as a main form of healing instead of having an actual healer. =

That doesn't change how shitty and unfun it is. It's not bad because it's linear. It's bad because the scenarios, story, encounters, and gameplay are ass.
I wanted to be done with it so that I could get to the endgame dungeons.

Well that's arguably the same even throughout the start depending who you ask. Personally I'm enjoying the disjointed story, as odd as it comes off. Gameplay wise, I'm just mentally prepared for chapter 13.
Chapter 13 is a complete non-issue if you stock up on MP replenishing items and remember the Triangle button exists.
If only it weren't so damn dangerousOoooh shit!! That Back to the Future reference whenyou take off with the Regalia Type F!
This game just keeps getting better.

It never left!13 hours, doing all side quests, level 27 and chapter 4.
Really loving the game despite it's flaws. FF is Back.
It never left!
So close to the plat now.. all I have to do is max fishing, survival, cooking, and photos. But there is also a whole bunch more side stuff that don't have trophies and am trying to decide if I'm going to do all of them or not lol.
Question related to a hidden trophy
What level were you when tackling the adamantoise fight? I'm 57 right now but a bit scared that it's going to be too hard since it's lvl 99.
I literally just fought and beat him after clocking an hour and a half. I beat him at level 71 but I was told you can beat him as early as 45. Main issue with him is that it is long as hell and you'll get hurt a lot. He's slow as fuck and I honestly never had to use a Phoenix Down but I probably used over 35-40 potions.
Beat it.
Loved it.

Didn't you hate it at the beginning ?
Thoughts on the ending?
I have to sleep on it, but it might be my favorite ending in the series. It was really touching and hit all the right notes.
I was more satisfied with the overall story than I thought I would be going into it.
