Question related to a hidden trophy
What level were you when tackling the adamantoise fight? I'm 57 right now but a bit scared that it's going to be too hard since it's lvl 99.

It's honestly more just a boring fight. I was going to leave it as the last thing to do, but read it was doable earlier so went for it. I think being over 40 it could be doable, just take a longer, I think around 60 is the optimal level though. Think I was 77 and it took me about an hour. Just warp striking continuously, warping to a safe point, repeat. Barely got hurt during the fight actually and never really killed me. Didn't use as many potions as I thought I would.

Oh god, an hour? That does sound boring haha. I'm hoarding potions and elixirs by this stage so I'm not concerned there, but this sounds like the dullest thing by far.

Can I leave costlemark tower after solving 3 but before final fight?

If I leave will I have to solve the entire place again?

The monsters don't respawn. I did it in two trips since I was getting anxious about the 60k exp I was carrying haha.

The entire block puzzle resets if you leave before completing it, I found that out the hard way, but you won't run into any enemies on the way to the actual puzzle.

How are people catching big fish? Even with the third rod and reel upgrades and 2,000 strength line it's not enough. Is there higher end stuff I'm missing?

For those of you with 35 hours plus in chapter 8 or so... what side quests are you doing? I can't find high level sidequests to do and keep me busy. That's why I just tend to go for the story quest since I'm 2-3 levels over it and that way I don't feel too overpowered. I'm at chapter 12 atm.... probably will finish the game this week. Sigh, I'll be sad when it is over.... that 10 year wait into this is gonna sting me hard.

ok thanks. I don't mind having to run the blocks again. So do the monsters here never respawn?

I'm at
Chapter 5
and man, what a nice change of pace.
No regalia is letting me have nice extended walks and engaging in enemy battles I'd normally avoid. I get to build Gladio's survival skill too. And it comes right as you settled into the Regalia and covering large distances in short periods of time. I really like how they throw that in there to change things up.

Liking the game a lot, and REALLY enjoying the combat.

EDIT: Fun question for the top of the page: would you guys support a FFXV-2? I'd love a story-heavy entry with more linear progression (think Witcher 2) and heavier emphasis on combat and setpieces. This is a fantastic engine and combat system and would hate for it to go to waste by being featured in one game only.

Patience mostly when tilting the line so that the durability doesn't go down too fast. With the 1500 one it was impossible for me but Dragon's Beard or whatever the 2000 one is called lasted me for big catches.

Ok yesterday I played like 4h... still chapter 3 but did a lot of suquests and hunting... now I have 40k xp... still looking for something to without too much effort and then will try the 2x exp rest.

So would be like 80k exp (more or less). I'm actually level 17. I hope to gain a lot of level ups! :D

When the big fish start splashing side when swimming to the side, once they stop splashing you can reel them for about a second or so. What I was doing was just tapping R and slowly bringing them in. It's a tedious pain, and I don't see myself bothering with fishing once I max out Noctis's fishing level.

The 3rd, 4th and Gladis's fishing quests were all the hardest for me.

You need upgrades and higher rank.

Thanks, maybe I'll just ignore it. I was trying to reel only tiny amounts when there was no tension but it didn't seem like enough. Not sure I can be bothered doing it over and over

Well, finished. I may try to write up a big post but I almost never do for any game.

I will say, regarding the story, Hajime Tabata clearly has a style when it comes to directing. Which is to say, he doesn't direct that much. Just like Type-0, there were so many moments of "wait what?" and scenes feeling like they went missing at some point.

The scope of the game clearly buckled under pressure too.
just looking at the maps, it felt like there was much more they wanted to create, but alas, they didn't.

And 6 years after FFXIII, HD towns are still hard. Just kidding
though Insomnia will go down as the worst case of MIA city in the series. I mean I guess you get to see it in Kingsglaive and Brotherhood more but...

For fishing I'd say if you can watch the actual fish change direction, it's a lot better than waiting for the tension prompt to appear. I caught the big fish in Vesperpool with 1000 durability, with level 6 fishing. Your durability only gets hurt when you reel too much at the wrong time forcing the tension high or you don't change direction with the fish fast enough. If you can manage that then it's possible to not take any damage at all.

How can combat animations look so good and dialogue scenes look so insultingly bad ?

I've seen better dialogue scenes from 10 year old games !

Characters aren't even facing each other, have no expression and move awkwardly.

30 hours in and at chapter 7 so far. I'm loving everything about the game EXCEPT the combat. Can't use magic at all because it just kills my team mates, and I completely hate relying on items as a main form of healing instead of having an actual healer. =

I had not thought about it. Ignis should've been a bit more healer/assist type.

Follow up question.

Near the end of Chapter 3
I heard Luna talking on the radio, and a bunch of people listening with no indication that anyone thought she was dead. Did she reveal herself to be alive at some point? Is Niflheim okay with this?

I just finished hitting the third stone in Chapter 5, so no spoilers after that please!
I am pretty sure everything you hear on the radio is
recordings of Lunafreya speaking before her "death."

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

When I read posts like these I feel like I am underlevelled. I never had that much XP banked up. Maybe I should just do a ton of side quests and hunts today.

That Cup Noodle quest with Gladiolus sure was weird. I think the VA was smoking dank that day

While playing the game I thought it was a shame it wouldn't get a sequel.

After finishing it, I understand why and I think a sequel would ruin it entirely.

BUT, I would not be opposed a Final Mix version of FFXV with better "everything", more scenes, more gameplay features, etc...

As DLC expansion pack why not.

Tabata says they plan on just adding DLC to the title instead of make a sequel.

How do I have royal arms block bullets automatically. I know I saw a video of them doing it without Armiger on, and without holding block...

After finishing the game, doing post-game content and processing everything story related, my hype for DLC has escalated. I can't wait to hear more about them.

I hope the first DLC is for Prompto.

It's not just the ending itself that's incredible, but the entire hour or so leading up to it just had me pretty awestruck.
Glad to hear that you loved it :D

Prompto is last.

First is Gladio then Iggy.
Gladio is my least favorite so eh.....

Ignis should be exciting.

NEVER ever be excited for DLC unless it's Rockstar or CD Projekt Red.
Nah, I am sure they can also deliver a good DLC. How could they not with whatever they have cut :p

Good lord hnnngg

If this game isn't careful it may end up being my favorite in the series, but I still have a ways to go.
I am positive this will easily be one of your favorite FF based on the ending and all. Looking forward to your impressions.

Finally got the
Ultima
Blade for Noctis and I'm still in chapter 3. That was easy...

For people farming for the Sturdy Helixhorn, I suggest eating the Mother Rice Bowl for +50% item drop rate, really helps out. I got one after 3 runs with the Last Spiracorns quest.

Where is that bowl available? Hammerhead?

It's honestly the only way to get it seeing how the normal drop rtae is only 10%...

Just finished it... What a surprise this game was, it felt like something truly special, like the kind of hi-tech final fantasy game i imagined when i was a kid playing the ps1 games. I've been pretty harsh on FFXV (and SE in general) for years now, my expectations couldn't have been lower, and although the game isn't perfect i think it's a true return to form. Bring on 16.

Is this what the woman is eating with a view to the ocean sitting on a bench?

Also where do I find that blade?

And how do you guys get deber coins? I think I got 9 of them.

This restaurant in Altissa with the guy for the Oracle Coin sidequest is so blatantly supposed to be a shop/restaurant/tipster, but it just... Isn't.

In fact, there's a couple of sidequests in Altissia I know I saw in trailers and previews that just don't seem to be anywhere to find.
