Yo some of these side quests are so bad. The ones where you have to find the random screaming guy in trouble and give him a potion are cracking me up.
Oh that one. While doing a hunt mission I was near there and heard some random guy screaming for help, it started another mission for it but I just kept doing what I was doing. 3 days later riding past on a chocobo completely forgetting about it I heard the guy still yelling, cracked me up. Maybe one day I'll go find him.

You've got to be kidding me lmao
How is it explained? Guys I have to go....Hey guys I'm back you should see the other guy.

Fishing is cool when the party isn't repeating the same annoying lines. Gwent is better. GOAT music.

Seriously, I like fishing but the talk, even if fun at first, is tharting to get too annoying. There should be an option to mute them and enjoy fishing peacefully ...

Elixirs don't seem to be working on gladiolus to restore his true health. Is this a bug?. Also every fight in foclaugh hollow I end up with half a health bar. Anyone know how to counteract this?

The more I play the more I'm comfortable with calling this game garbage. There are so many fundamentally terrible aspects of the game it's mind boggling when you consider the developer and pedigree of the franchise. How did it get 9s? How are people saying this is their GOTY? How? I really don't get it.

You've got kids who have waited most of their lives for this game, it'll take awhile for reality to set in. I convinced myself the Phantom Menace was a good movie for a lot longer than I'd care to admit when I was younger. Others seem to be willing to overlook all of the games flaws because they enjoy the combat.

Chapter 14 and im really losing it now, overall an amazing game but enough is enough, i actually cant wait to finish this story and play the end game open world stuff again.

You can go back at any time, though. I plan on doing it after every chapter, to do higher level hunts and shit.

yo there's more where that came from

You got some more of them menu songs?

This is the most fun that I have in a game since MGS V (with was also disappointing in some aspects) because of the combat

It has a huge number of flaws, but it's so fun for me that I couldn't give less than 9 if I have to give a grade

Oh, right, let me complain about something stupid that REALLY bothers me, way more than it should.

PLEASE REMOVE THAT FUCKING STAR RANKING.

What's wrong with letting everyone have the SUPERIOR JAPANESE S RANKING?

I really wish that the cut scene with Ignis not wanting to drive at night could be shippable. I have to look at that every time he cries about the sun setting down.

And sometimes they get out of the car because of monsters nearby but then it turns out there's no monsters at all.

Why?

I think it is perfectly ok to enjoy a game despite it flaws.

There are some genuine great moments in this game, and some woeful ones too. But thats ok. You could call it a disaster given the pedigree of the developer and franchise, but for large periods of the game the game reminded me why i originally loved the series.

Currently on Chapter 13 (a real low point, i agree). The game takes a bit of a nose dive after 8. It is not that it is linear (it is, but i think there are bigger issues), it is just that it feels very much they have bolted a few ideas together to finish the game and it very much feels empty, and unfinished. I think they realised they had a difficult game on there hands, realised how much it was going to cost, decided to finish it to the best of their ability and set to work on FF7 using this as a tool to experiment with some ideas. The further the game goes on, the more it looks back on that game.

For me it is 3/5 game, (6/7 out of 10 perhaps) but i have enjoyed many moments in the game. I think the game is ambitious to some degree, the dungeons are the highlight, a nice mix of old school design and triple A leanings, the immediate cast (you and the three others) are great, the world is beautiful at times, the scale is final fantasy down to a tee, and the summons are well realised. So that is why i can overlook its (big) flaws)

End Credits.

Wtf. Seriously? The ending fucking sucks. Why were people saying it was so good and emotional?

It explained nothing, it was melodramatic anime nonsense. It was pretty short, too.

I felt nothing.

I am dead inside.

Hmm, I don't think you are overlooking its flaws if you are ranking it 3/5 to be honest. Or is that you providing a 'more objective' ranking versus your own assessment, which is that you are largely enjoying it and you think it is 'good'?

Oh, ok, that's what I thought too.

A+ would de acceptable as well, but that star is just straight garbage.

It depends on the account you're playing it on. I bought the game on my EU account but playing it on the US one because it's where all my trophies are. I have the A+ ranking even if the copy is not a US one. And distances in miles (which is annoying but eh).

It's so tempting for me to want to say people just want it to be good, or great, but that seems insulting. Taste is subjective. That said...

I think it is objectively not great.

Your Phantom Menace comparison is apt, though.

What do you think needed explanation?

Arden. All the mystical shit, really.

Maybe a bit of both. There are many 3/5 films/games i enjoy for certain reasons but also perhaps don't work overall, but there are enough good things in it from stop making it a disaster. I guess there are also 3/5 film/games were i'm more disappointed in the game but can still recognise it's good parts.

I think this game falls into the former, i'm enjoying it despite its flaws.

Haha , i hope that make sense.

Miles is really annoying. Seriously some times a mile feels like 100 kilometers.

Eew. At least I don't have that filth.

Dunno how that relates. I'm 30 soon and I think this game is a serious GOTY contender (against Persona 5) for me, despite all the flaws it has.

Would be nice if they could put in a metric system option in the options menu. The Imperial system is just needlessly confusing as hell.

I am not certain that I should buy this game, so many conflicting opinions.

Therefore I am really curious what Kagari's opinion of this game is. Does anyone know?

Do what I did. Rent it. Main Story can be beaten in a rental period.

You must not have played enough games this year.

Japanese version has the superior S ranking? now we riot!

Sure that definitely makes sense.

Going back to the more objective assessment, I suppose it is also how you weight the different elements.

For me personally, the audio/visual element is pretty important for instance, in that regard I would rate it pretty highly. On the other hand narrative coherence is also important, although I think many games do this pretty badly. Even Witcher 3: Blood and Wine, which I think is excellent overall, had some issues in terms of internal believability.

HotHamBoy: Different opinions. He might think some of the games you like are wack. And if he can justify it, it can be a legitimate opinion. Also, renting the game would mean playing many hours a day or rushing it. Not everyone has that time.

Got the prompto
motel sequence
last night.

Some really good stuff, really compelling. Are there more hidden gems like this that I need to seek out? I know that one is completely optional and could easily be missed.

Stupid question: those super expensive meals at restaurants are recipes for Ignis and he can cook the stuff for the rest of game after you bought them, right? I don't want to waste my gil. ^^

So, Cid Upgrades quests are bugged, he took all my weapons and won't give them back after 8 hours of quests and hunts.

Anyone else with this issue?

Definitely doing as much as I can (so ignoring dungeons for now). I'm already in Duscae, but excited to go back to Leide and try the Bandersnatch at my current level. Should be a lot more fun. I'll do it as soon as I pick up Dino's stone thing.

Seriously. It is next-level bonkers how the game dances around the story the entire time.

It's like SE didn't even know what the story was so they just made it as vague and anime as possible. Which I think might actually be the case.

With the amount of detail they put into optional stuff, I doubt it. Fucking Dave gets a considerable amount of development through the radio. They bothered to give Cid and Cidney a sad story to lead to her leading Hammerhead. They just don't have enough cutscenes, imo.

And I don't mean it as the usual "that shouldn't be optional!" I see thrown around, I love the amount of optional narrative stuff this game has, but it should have more cutscenes on top of that.

I think FFXIII has more CG cutscenes than this game has real time ones. And I mean actual cutscenes, not in-game dialogue with the camera zoomed in.
