People who rushed through the story are now complaining about the story being vague?

I mean yes, the story is not explained properly but if you pay attention, majority of the plot points are already resolved. This is like trying to rush through Westworld and then saying WTF at the season ending because you have no idea how the story got there in the first place.

So, Cid Upgrades quests are bugged, he took all my weapons and won't give them back after 8 hours of quests and hunts.

Anyone else with this issue?

He took all of them or you just got all the quests? On mine I got all the quests, but he'll only take one weapon at a time. And yes, it took forever for him to finish the first one. I think it must track in game time or something? He called me when the first one was ready for pick up. At this rate I'll need the rest of the game just to finish them all.....

How do you rush through a TV show?

The story IS vague. That is how it is presented. Not my fault if I missed som random scrap of paper with key exposition on it.

Just repeat the first hunt a few times and rest and he will call you in the morning. Warp strike for easy AP as an added bonus.

Well, I can't equip them but I can see them in the Item Menu, so I think he has them all, I have the quests as well, but when I click on them they just point to Cid and he says some generic stuff, the Quest menu says I just have to wait for him to finish them, but it's been more than 8 hours, I seriously hope this isn't bugged because I don't have the time to restart the game.

I don't think it is, I think it just takes a ridiculous amount of in game time to get them back. Could just try camping like five times in a row or something. I have the piggyback guide. I'll look tonight when I'm home from work.

The comparison is not regarding the quality of story or writing. I am simply saying you need to be immersed in the world. The way they explain the story is different than standard games. A lot of stuff is in the background and if you simply follow the main path, you won't get much.

Like a lot of people in this thread ask
Who the fuck is Jared?

Of course it's your fault. You don't have to enjoy it being told this way, you're obviously free to think it's awful, but if you missed something that is actually there, who else's fault is it?

Do you guys use more Armiger weapons than not? I'm feeling the sting of this HP loss battle after battle.

I'm keeping one equipped for the great stat boosts, but I almost never actually use them. Just a few times to look at the unique animations, but the movesets so far are extremely limited and boring. You can't even use it for party attacks, right? Straight garbage.

Anyone?

I guess I will just take the hit and download the 3GB+ demo. Pretty annoying if content is locked behind completion of a demo lol.

I know it's probably a shit summon but I like having everything unlocked :)

Isn't it for easy mode only? I've seen Stella on Prompto shots, but it never did anything during gameplay.

Don't bother. He doesn't show up if you play on normal. Only on easy. (I did exactly what you're about to do and haven't seen him yet)

I think you have to do a certain number of hunts before Cid gives you your weapons back. Yesterday I tried camping 4 times in a row and nothing so I took on a few hunt missions and after 3 then camping he called.

Yeah, it's different for every quest. The guide explains them all.

I'm just going to keep shitting on this awful game, so I will forego posting in this thread any longer.

So I just met him last night. I have no clue who he is and the game has explained jack shit about him before last night. That isn't my fault.

We ain't a circlejerk club, dude. You are free to shit on it as you see fit. I'm having a blast but the story is an insult to my intelligence.

The way the game plays his importance is stupid but asking who he is, when he is right there in front of our face, is missing the obvious.

So in Chapter 14 and I got my first "dead" Noctis. Tried to fight something I shouldn't have for fun. He just sat on one knee and waited to me to use a Phoenix Down.

Is... it not possible to actually lose at this game unless you are out of items? I was feeling it was kind of easy but goddamn. That cant be right, can it? Was it just because I was solo at this part of the game or something?

To be fair, there are spots where people are absolutely justified in saying the story is vague. Chapter
8 (specifically the power plant)
, for example, is unfiltered garbage and no amount of paying attention to what's going on will help understand it any better.

I'm level 34 in Chapter 3 with 67k xp banked and the side quests won't end. Should I just bomb through the story and come back for the side stuff later?

Also, what's with the cave that has a level 28 quest line, but level 42 necromancers like 10 feet inside?

True, I felt no attachment to him, but you talk to him multiple times. Still, if they wanted us to care they could have given him more meaningful screen time.

You're supposed to go get the third royal arm in the first main quest of Chapter 4.

The was was the fourth I think...?
The one I have so far are:

1- The one Cor leads you to (shows in menu as 1st)
2- The one in the dungeon Cor leads you to (shows in menu as 2nd)
3-
The one in the cave behind the waterfall
(shows in menu as 4th)
4-
The one in front of Titan
(shows in menu as 5th)

So yeah, I've missed the third somewhere :(

Honestly Chapter 8 looked like it was a filler chapter to add more padding to the game.

Yes you should come back to side quests around chapter 9 when you can triple your EXP. Sleep at the 2x EXP hotel for now and move on and power through.

And in some quests you can just run past enemies to find what you need, I'm not sure about the specific quest you're talking about.

Yeah, chapter 8 hurt my brain a little, possibly irreversibly. I literally burst out laughing in the office when I read on here
that Gladio's disappearance is not explained at any point in the game
. Even if it was DLC bait, surely you could have done it a little less stupid.

I mean, you can say the same about Gold Orbs in DMC. But I think they're extremely cheap and never use any kind of healing items in DMC. It's a cheesing tool, not proper balancing.

People would be mad if you couldn't use a Phoenix Down on Noctis at all, since it was their idea that you only get to control one character, and not their fault.

In Beouskljfsae (whatever) Mine. Cindy has a car quest that takes you right outside of it. It's filled with level 7 goblins and a level 54 boss, because what's balance? The boss can be cheesed if you want, but the weapon is through a crack in a wall in the boss arena a couple levels away from the boss so I guess you can probably get the weapon without killing it?

I'm pretty sure the name of the cave is
Daurell Caverns.
I went inside thinking I could breeze through it and proceeded to get petrified a few times and then ran back out.

Ah well, disappointing as I'll be playing on normal. Is it demo completion or just starting the demo for a bit? I mean I've almost downloaded it now.

I'm at level 63 on chapter 8 thanks to just doing side quests with the double exp of Galdin Quay.

If you want the main story to pose a bit of a challenge, you should just wait until post game to do most of the side quests. You get massively overlevelled by doing them as early as you possibly can (as proven by my level).

Not like it matters if it took me until Chapter 14 to even figure that out. Was just trying to confirm. Thats crazy though.

Just finished the game.
80 hours.
Don't know why some people think the ending was confusing, or needs more explanation.
It was pretty clear to me, after combining everything in my head.

I'm at level 14 and I think I'm about to enter my first dungeon (well it's the first time the game has said you won't be able to return to the open world for some time). Am I good to go in at that level (taking into account I'm not great at battling)?

Guys, when you are trading in your exp, does that mean you basically are collecting exp and NOT camping or staying in a hotel until near the end of the chapter? How do you know you're getting close to the end of a chapter. I horded a bunch of exp and then chapter 2 ended so I lost out on taking it to a hotel that gives bonuses.

Finally, how do you find out which hotels give good bonuses???

I got a PS4 Pro yesterday and I'm really impressed how much better it looks on a 1080p TV vs. my old PS4. Much quieter too--which was main driving factor for my upgrade. My old PS4 was far louder with FFXV than any prior game so I was worried it was on its last legs (tried UC4 and it was much louder with it than the last time I played as well).

Game wise, still on Chapter 6. Up to level 45 after using some EXP food and spells and doing a royal tomb dungeon (used the spells to kill the boss). Still having a blast and can play a bunch today hopefully.

It's explained, it's just the explanation is
"I'm your sworn bodyguard, now please excuse me while I abandon you for reasons I won't explain."

If I had to guess, his DLC episode will be
going on a revenge quest against that random commander we're also supposed to give a fuck about,
because Jared.

I guess the problem is even on the main path in later half (after Chapter 8) there is still not much to see. They explain nothing either in 'main path' or 'the background', which is why the story confuse so many people.
Noctis having to sleep for 10 years alone is one of the best sample.

It means you just keep holding exp until you'r ready to spend it. It just saves you money if you're wanting to use the more expensive hotels with the 2x/3x boost. I mean there's no real way to know a chapter is going to end you can only go by feeling, if the objective seems like it could be final(ie you've already done the task of the chapter and are going back or something).

Honestly most of the time I just hoarded exp through side quests and hunts. Then slept before I continued on with the story.

The only way to find out what boost they give is by going up to them and talking to the person once(but don't sleep obviously). That is besides just being told by someone on this forum or by a friend. :p

Already had a run-in (and subsequent run-out) with him, I'll go back now I'm stronger...
Thanks for the info :)

So.... still chapter 3... 40k exp. Should I just get the 2x and go on with the main quest? :p

Also because at lv17 subquest are starting to get hard to do! :D

I also read that is possible already in that chapter to get the
ultima sword
for noctis... should I bother? is it worth the time?

I'd rather deal with lack of challenge in the main quest than having to do a bunch of really low level sidequests for a while in the post-game until I can get to the fun stuff.

Some people mentioned running past some enemies near the end, maybe they'll be a fun challenge for overleveled people who did most quests.
