I knew about Jared, but holy hell I had a major issue later:

Ch 13 spoilers
when Noctis is getting stuck in the crystal and Ardyn starts explaining who he is, the sound mixing is super fucked up and all I could hear was Noctis grunting like crazy. My fault for not having subs on, I know, but jesus christ. Beat the game later still having zero idea who the fuck Ardyn actually was. (looked it up later)

I am at post game. I was driving and doing some random quests which i skipped. It was night time and an Iron Giant popped up in the road. Gladious said something like " Those horror movie rejects again." Sometimes they feel so real i really love the writing in this game between the party members.

Yeah, by far the worst dungeon I've done so far.

Wasn't helped by the poor way the game informs you of things. I spent ages wandering around not realising
you could push the power generators.
The party doesn't tell you that you can press them until the prompt comes up, but you have to practically be hugging the thing to get the prompt up. So you can easily run past them without even realising. My friend had the same issue, and it wasn't until I told him that he realised you could interact with them, lol.

I knew of him in terms of having seen him in the previous cut scene. I don't remember it telling me that he was
the butler/royal attendant though. Which meant I was still irritated by the entire thing with him being randomly introduced, and then randomly killed off-screen.

Turning in some of these side missions is pissing me off.

First it was that dinner guy in hammerhead. I had his items yesterday but he didn't take it the same way I have the items Cid needs but he won't take it!

The mission marker shows to talk to Cid but when I do he says something stupid like stand up straight.

What am I doing wrong? I'm trying to clear these missions.

Could it be that Cid is still working on one of your weapons? You need to wait until he's done with it before you can turn in the next weapon+item for him to upgrade.

There's been plenty of times when Noct is up against a wall and the camera refuses to wrap around him so I can see monsters on the other side, it keeps rubber banding to the angle that faces the wall instead. That has seriously never happened to you? It's come up several times during casual combat, especially in caves.

Turning in quests to vendors is wonky. There's usually an icon NEAR them that is for the quest. Talking to them normally doesn't work.

The icon for Cid is always there even if you don't have the items. Make sure you have it. Or he's not done fixing a weapon. Go rest if you've done a few quests/hunts and he should call you.

No he isn't working on anything for me. That's why I'm so stumped. This is the first set of missions after he upgrades the Engine Sword and Drain Lance for the first time.

At least you are lucky he just stands up. One time I tried to talk to him he kind of grunted then my game glitched where I could not select anything or talk to anyone. I had to restart my game to get out of it.

I have the items and I know he's not working on anything for me. The only thing that annoying me is that I can't clear the missions and be done because he's acting like a ass. I'll just come back later. That's all I could do at this point.

That's never happened to me. I also have little to no issue with the camera in games like the Souls series and Monster Hunter, so maybe I'm just weird.

Well, that might indeed be the reason. :p

Although I'm certain other characters also call him by name.

I mean, it's perfectly fine not to know his role, but not know who he is? That to me sounds of people skipping cutscenes or looking at their cell phones while they happened (My brother does that a lot, and he's often asking questions because he misses stuff...)

Damn these optional dungeons are no joke. Fricking necromancers. Still, nothing my blizzara multicast can't handle =P

Does anyone know how many royal weapons are feasible to collect before Ch. 9? Got 6 but assuming there are a few more I could grab now...

Edit: lol Jared. He reminds me of Arvis from Narshe in FF VI. He'd probably be more memorable as a sub-titled sprite.

Is it worth it to continue doing these fetch quests like catching frogs and finding vans? I'm getting pretty burnt out on these in Lestallum. I'll do them if there's a payoff but I'm leaning towards ditching them.

Yeah chapter 3 in general throws a bit too much side quests at you that you can do. You can always come back to do those quests later on so I would not sweat it so much if you feel liking ditching them for a while.

Agreed, I did too many I think. Now sticking to main character quests (like Cindy's car quests). Going to come back later for high level hunts too.

The frogs questline will eventually give you a pretty good accessory, but there are multiple steps and the last one is dumb to do without a guide.

Man the post game dungeon Schrier was praising is freaking awful. It's clever, but this is not the game to have this sort of thing in. Some of it is straight up bullshit too.
2 hours into it I hit the diagonal part with no way to leave and have to do something IRL so that's two hours of trudging for nothing. One of the jumps in there is absolute crap to judge due to that angle. When I go back to it later I'll have a choice of do that dungeon or nothing since there's no way to leave this area as the car won't take off nor can I fast travel.

This has completely shat on a game I was loving until now. From what I can tell my options are do this thing and see what happens or start a new file just to leave the damn place. What a way to ruin a game. Let's you think there's something cool at the end of the road but it's nothing but a save file trap?

I wish this dungeon was just a rerun of chapter 13...

Just getting started. Looking pretty great in 4K and HDR on high resolution.

Edit: I did the combat tutorials and some solo fighting while it was installing, I think it's dope. Not sure why Reddit is complaining about the combat, I guess I'll find out the nuisances once I really get started.

I'm about to stop doing any post game content. Three fucking crashes in the past 2 hours. Two of them didn't effect me but this last one wiped the hunt and more importantly an entire fort.

Fuck this shit. Fix your damn game SE

Beat Chapter 13 last night. Was prepared for it to take a bit, not a high point and I took a break but there's been at least a handful of dungeons throughout the series and other RPG's that have tried my patience more than that did. I appreciate what they were going for, it's appropriate for nearing the end and the payoff was solid.

Looking forward to finishing tonight. Already have a lot of thoughts on the game, it's a fascinating project. I'm pretty into where things have gone since Chapter 8, both structurally and story-wise, even if it's a bit messy. Feels very Final Fantasy with some Legend of Zelda beats in there as well.

Walking towards the Crystal with the Prelude/Crystal Theme playing in the background was a chilling experience. Loved that.

The game has never crashed on me. It did however put noctis frozen in time and the only way I can get out was to return to a rest point. Glitch maybe.

Is there any in-game way to know what sort of items Cid wants and where you can find them? Also, is there any alternative way of finding the meat for A Meat Most Magnificent quest? I've don the hunt for 5-6 times by now and still haven't got that meat from the drops.

Once you get the quest it should tell you in the quest log. Doesn't really tell you where to find them unfortunately, but I could help you if you're having trouble finding anything.
