People don't like it? I thought it was amazing

I understand why.
It certainly doesn't look like the one in the E3 2013 trailer (Which seemed longer and more elaborate), and people made up an entirely different battle in their heads. When the final version did not deliver on what they imagined, of course were disappointed.

I wasn't though. Sure, it was short, and easy, but never could I even imagine we would control god-mode Noctis. And the freakin' music, man. I loved that setpiece.

I fucking cried man, but I'm weak to a bunch of grown ass man all crying around a campfire ;_; I like each of them too.
Yep, I cried during that, and the ghost wedding, and even the part where ghost Regis hesitates to stab his own son
Add me to the list of people who shed tears for bros at camp. Didn't really feel anything about that wedding scene though. Me and Luna just don't see eye to eye lol

My chapter 13 actually bugged out and I had to start halfway over
im the third or forth savepoint area I triggered the soldiers but for some reason the battle didnt trigger right away so one of the soldiers got locked away, meaning that even after I defeated the other soldiers the alert state wouldn't go away and you can't open doors during alert state so I had to reload (I didnt save because it seemed easy enough)..
. I don't know how I can still like this game. Well, I don't dislike chapter 13 that much, could just be a tad shorter towards the end.

Because the positives massively outweigh the negatives. :)

The pinnacle of warp fighting. Or somewhere close to it.

Speaking of which [Ending Spoilers]
man, Ardyn and I were just warping all over the place in the first phase of that fight, hahaha. And then the game went all flying kings of Lucis on us and we took that warping battle to a whole new level lol

If I'm being honest I liked the Ifrit fight much better than Ardyn. The music, environment, summons... they were all just on a completely different league.

While XV is a far superior experience to actually play, I'm going to go ahead and just say it:

For all the complaining about the Datalog and "fal'Cie" and "l'Cie," XIII had a much, much more coherent and fleshed out story besides a couple of sudden swings in character motivation.
Characters never got introduced and then completely dropped without explanation, though a few did get unsatisfyingly fridged.
It also had hours of actual cutscenes, like, with actual direction and cinematic flair, and multiple beautiful CGIs.

XV has, like, 3 CG scenes, while just off the top of my head XIII had at least 5 or 6.

XIII has 22.

XV has 3.

Also great battle themes:

Apocalypsis Aquarius - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-0TcwJT4go
Insomnia Battle Theme
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0r6OMUB3ZM
Ravus Aeterna
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZA5iQZEPOE
Hellfire
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wniOUlRwaMM

the score does a lot of legwork in this game, and that's ok with me. it reminds me of the psx titles where music basically had to deliver both the tone and the emotional beats of the scene (like the entire nibelheim sequence in VII). music continues to be extremely important in this series.

when these themes started to play i felt everything I was supposed to. especially the
ravus one. despite seeing so little of him I felt a mixture of horror, pity and determination to fuck him up, which the track perfectly conveys

Chapter 9 to early 12 stuff

Did Luna really just die like that after doing nothing all game?

Ardyn is such a shit character and I still have no idea what his goal is

Ignis going blind off screen? What the hell...

Random timeskip and Noctis and Gladios are suddenly being little shits to each other?

Noctis knocked off Prompto because Ardyn can apparently make Prompto look like him? I didn't even know what the fuck happened in that cutscene until the chapter description in the loading screen told me.

Suddenly Ravus is a good guy?

What the fuck is happening

Some of that has already been explained, and others will be explained.

But it seems that no matter the outcome, you will be pissed, so stop and save yourself the anger.

Kind of amazing how many people understood the plot perfectly up until that point, yet others seem to be missing the point.

Good news, they'll all be answered

Ardyn is an amazing character smh
I agree about Ravus, but I hear they're fixing that.

Level 24 and I'm still on chapter 3. I really need to get moving on the story but doing side quests and goofing around is so much fun.

Just beat ch 13 but after such a long chapter my wife commandeered the tv for the night so ch 14 waits till tomorrow.

Ch 13 thoughts

I enjoed the car section, it was fun and frantic. The ring portion was uhhh okay. It was basically running down a hallway while occassionally using a spell. 30 min into that I get the king's sword and some of the combat returned. Wasnt that bad at all anymore. 30 more min in and I get the team back then 15 min and everything's back to same old fun.

I liked the notes laying around, it reminded me of RE. Also enjoed Ardyn mocking and teasing. The prompto twist was stupid as was every twist up until this point.

All in all kinda boring but not terrible. Catching Vesper Gar and going through Costlemark were both much more boring and frustrating experiences and both took just as long!

I genuinely think Ardyn had the potential to be one, if not the best
final fantasy bad guy
.

Sadly, the plot/exposition fell short.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Yeah I agree with that about
Ravus. The element of horror, determination, pity, and Ravus' regality was perfectly portrayed in this battle theme.

Okay, wtf. I'm doing the Pilgrimage mission (lvl 16) and all my guys are level 20, but I don't see how the hell I'm supposed to beat that stupid machine. Almost all of its attacks can one shot my guys, even after I've broken its parts. I can't even focus on attacking its legs because then I can't watch out for its random spread shots that also kill me in one hit. What am I missing?

Anyone?
