What and where are the optional dungeons?

Noct and Co are around level 63. Do I need to grind more before taking on the post game dungeons?

I will put my explanation in spoiler tags for everyone who hasn't finished the game yet.

You first need to clear four dungeons: Costlemark Tower, Balouve Mines, Crestholm Channels and Daurell Caverns. Once you have cleared them, go to the hunters' outpost to the wast of the Vesperpool and talk to the old lady sitting in front of her house. She will give you a key that open the secret dungeons, and 8 quests will pop for you, guiding you towards the dungeons. Another dungeon can be found north of the Rock of Ravatogh, where you need to land on a tiny strip of road. This is a platforming dungeon, commonly regarded as the trickiest dungeon in the game (can testify that it is imo). You should level a bit more, the extra dungeons go up to level 99, and are really quite tough.

Ok, finished it!

Ending was well done but I hated it
as I expected is Kingslglaive 2.0. Basically give your life to the asshole kings so everything turns allright. Kinda nonsensical being a true king meaning the other kings kill your ass.

Also seems like nowadays they need to kill the main character in order to make an impactful ending.

On the other hand the credits showing your photos is fantastic!

Overall, awesome game, good characters, shit story. Now, to the side stuff!

It really bothers me that the four don't know who
Ardyn
is at first, especially Ignis. This dude guards the prince and informed him on politics daily. You're telling me that this top level guard doesn't know who the fuck the opposing factions Chancellor is? C'mon.

Also seriously bro.
Titan it's been thousands of years, you can set the meteor down and take a break.
Who writes this shit? lol.

Yeah, but that was before they talked about the story additions and chapter 13 balance, so I'm not sure if the Chapter 13 stuff is coming with this month's update, but NG+ and a way to control your level are coming this month, as well as a better framerate Pro mode (this could very well be delayed though) and a holiday themed free DLC pack (no idea about the content).

Wait, for real?
Goddamnit, this is gonna be one of those games isn't it? With a bunch of QOL improvements that'll make the experience significantly better for those that wait a few months before diving into the game, kinda like The Witcher 3. Now I wish I hadn't started it so early.

When is the patch for the level thing dropping? Maybe I'll play Invisible Inc and Divinity in the meantime. Or perhaps I should just get over it and do a replay much later on for the new story stuff they're gonna add anyway. I don't usually replay games though...

Thanks.
I think I clear one of the four dungeons. The one where you go into the sewer to find the head lights. I'm bad with the names so please forgive. Do the other 3 pop up in side missions also?

I guess I'll just keep doing side missions and grinding.

One more question. It is possible to get done with all side missions in a area right?

I don't want to keep doing side missions for anyone if they're unlimited.

They didn't say anything other than "this month", so I have no idea.

And for sure, nowadays getting things day one is only for stuff you REALLY can't wait to play. Waiting means not only you pay less, but you get a better product. I won't complain if the companies want to improve their games or that I get to pay less for a better product, but having no benefit for the consumer to get it day one will eventually backfire for the publishers.

If you look at Noctis's hair after it rains it looks like it's getting a hard on.

I haven't technically started the first quest of chapter 6, but I'm at level 70 and Noctis already has his Ultima Weapon. I guess I should probably get back to story missions because I don't know what else I can do at this point. I have a few hunts greyed out because I don't have a high enough hunter ranking to undertake them, but the targets are like 20 levels below me. They'll be a joke by the time I unlock them.

Just so I know though - all of those spectral weapons? Do I collect the rest of them through the remaining chapters, or am I left to discover their locations on my own? Chapter 2 or 3 was like "We need to go track down these tombs" and then the next chapter was like "Aww, fuck it. Let's go get some summons instead" and that was seemingly the end of that.

Anybody wants to bet when my copy is going to arrive? I preordered it during the reveal event and I'm still without a copy. Square Enix's store either had a stroke or the mail is totally snowed under...or both. Funnily enough my collector's edition of World of Final Fantasy arrived on day 1, this one is now two weeks over due.

The Adamantoise battle is terrible. You can literally just wail on the same spot. Dodging most of the attacks is ridiculously easy.

The most annoying part is the jank fighting such a large creature. Targeting is all over the place, techs often misfire, Armiger sometimes shoots you to another target point even though you're holding lock on a specific one.

This is definitely the least fun I've had so far. Got it down to about 45% health. My fingers ache. ;_;

Hey guys, pretty early in the game. I just today, quite a few hours in, realized that the good weapons drain my life as I use them lol.

I'm really trying to figure out the best way to do combat. Half the time I feel like I have to stay back and just use a ranged weapon just to stay alive while my teammates do everything. What am I doing wrong here?

Any tips and tricks for a Gaf pal?

Also any hints at a good Ascension tips would be appreciated :)

What do you mean by "control your level"?

Anyway, has anybody cleared the 50k exp lv 60 quest you get in
Lestallum
? It's the one you get by
overhearing two people talking from outside a window.
I couldn't find info about it online, so I guess few have actually cleared it or found it?

To start with,
getting to the right area of ravanough is a pain in the ass. That's the first reason I looked for info on the internet.. you can't get there on foot.
You need to have the flying regalia and you need to land perfectly on a really short road you wouldn't think you could land on.. I guess the flying regalia is their way to put a hard level barrier.

So basically you go and explore this area for a "pirate treasure" as the quest marker calls it (don't recall the two men talking about pirates, though, what gives?).

Progression in this "open air" dungeon is quite straightforward and.. you can skip almost every high level monster, except maybe the three lv 65-70 cockatrices (a good fight, I'd suggest beating them).
You can also skip TWO LV 85 BLUE MARLBOROS (thank god) and if you go up the hill on your right you'll find a building. You go up the stairs, jump over the gap and find the treasure (
magitek core
) awkwardly placed in a corner.

And now for the weird stuff.

As soon as you pocket the treasure and get 50.000 exp (crazy, right?), the other guys just leave the party. Wtf? Also, in this very area, there's a small fenced square space you can jump inside thanks to a gap in the bars. Why would you do that you ask? There's a strange symbol on the wall, looks quite interesting and you would expect it to do something but.. it does nothing. If anything, Noctis seems to kinda clip over the wall.

Why would you provide access to an empty area that serves no purpose? Also, all the party members came back as soon as I left the building.

I have to say the quest felt a bit unfinished. It's like they wanted to put more into it, but didn't have the time to do so.
It's almost like that enormous area before you get the
mace of the fierce
. There HAD to be a boss there, you also find a bird's nest with giant eggs along the way!

Whatever, I now know where to go whenever i feel the need to take on TWO friggin overleveled blue marlboros.

You can cheese it pretty easily.
just focus on the top of the right foot. It is an accurate marker, and you can do continuous Warp strikes for 50k-75k a round, then Warp to a Warp point, and continue the attack with full mp after going to the billboard Warp point.

Just finished Chapter 9.

How can a company with such a large female fanbase be completely lacking in self-consciousness? Not only did they refrigerate Crowe in the film but Luna too? Were Lightning, Fang, and Serah just flukes?.

Aside from the narrative, which has been garbage, the game has been great. But now it's just pissed me off.

Wtf, seriously?! That's a lot of walking. Damn, lol.
I didn't know about all the warp options and didn't like to use the car XD

It's baffling
Ovviously not a fluke since they had such long history of good female characters
I just wonder whose fault it is

(Heavy story spoilers!)
He does appear. He hangs from the ceiling in the throne room as a trophy for Ardyn.

oh wow fuck I didn't notice it.
although it should be more like an ilusion rather than him, considering he disapears in the movie.

My game crashed on my way to fight him. I lost about an hour of progress and I had just finished up an optional dungeon without saving. :(

Ok so I have been digging the story so far but I'm still pretty early (Chapter 7). But then Gladio (not a huge spoiler)
left to do some stuff and came back all scared
. Will they ever explain what the hell whas that all about?

A simple yes/no can do.

Okay, well I did the hidden dungeon. It was actually better than I expected, the platforming is surprisingly decent. Some of the parts of it were really well designed too. There was a few bits which were a bit urgh but overall interesting.

Yeah, there is a lot wrong with the battle. First of all it is simply not fun imo, too much of a hazzle to even find a spot to land a strike. Secondly, it can crash. And lastly, there is a bug where you get knocked out of the battle circle and have to restart the battle from the beginning (happened to me 3 times already - 3 3 times an hour wasted. Am now waiting for a patch).

I'll give this a go, thanks a lot. Don't mind cheesing this bitch when the entire fight is a chesse fest itself!

I personally found the design of the levels amazing, but the controls not suitable for the platforming required. I fell so often because I overshot the movement with just a tiny nudge.

I don't mind that we'll likely get the content of
Glad's disappearance
in DLC, what I do mind is that the way
he leaves and returns
is incredibly jarring. They could have made these things much smoother and more detailed, I mean he doesn't even give an explanation...

Gbraga

They didn't give details, but most likely an accessory that won't let you gain EXP while it's equipped.

So you can always make sure your level matches the current main quest level, and you'll only do side content you can handle at that level.

It'll also make it possible to do challenge runs like a Level 1 run.

Yeah that was jarring. I liked Gladio (fav bro with Prompto) but he had some writting problems, another example is Ch.10 spoilers
he suddenly turns into a jerk for not much reason, and keeps yelling at Noc to not leave Ignis behind, then he himself wants to leave him behind when you kill the Marlboro because his blindness won't heal.
