And is there a fast way to bring down red giants? Can take on two at the same time easily but it takes so much time.

I loved it as it is, but my tastes are weird already so I'm willing to believe that people hated it for a good enough reason

I just took the (over-)reaction as symbolic of how some people simply lose their shit these days when a game does something they don't expect.

Its kinda funny to me because of how the advance reactions led me to expect some chapter-long torture dungeon where everything is the same; whereas the reality was 4 or 5 distinct sub-sections each with slightly different mechanics, none of which were particularly taxing to me, interspersed with a heavy amount of exposition.

But hey, to some folks this is "the worst thing ever"... Bizarre.

Just done with chapter 13 and I enjoyed it. Best chapter in a while honestly. Chapters 10-12 were pointless and forgettable.

Chapter 13 did indeed play a little like a PS1 or PS2 era level but I didn't mind at all. It was focused, it had good story bits and interesting mechanics. Took me about 2:20h to finish which I didn't find excessive. Y'all kids must have started gaming with the 360.

How often should I be using the Royal Arms?
i have two so far, and I just never equip them because of HP loss, I figured it's best to use them later when I have more HP to lose.

R.E combat in general: I really love it in XV, it's such an incredible step up, it's very challenging but also very rewarding, I noticed in most challenging battles there's always a period I get utterly destroyed for a while and then slowly my team starts to overcome and then destroy the enemy, really fun.

I ended up never really actively using them, but I did have shield of the just equipped quite frequently because it gave passive defence boosts for elec/fire/ice/dark and one or two others. Combine with the star one as well for additional defence boosts if necessary.

That would probably cut the ch length by about 30% i'd think.

dodge light ring magic could be used at any time. If I could hold the death spell but dodge as the enemy struck, it would make the combat in the first section more enjoyable.

It was a good boss fight though.

I actually do think chapter 13 is overhated.

It did shoot for nice atmosphere ,and the gameplay mixup was kinda nice.It was too long,however.

I don't believe hunts or friend quests count. Only quests from a "?", but someone can verify.

Chapter 13 is awful because although it isn't hard, it has game play that is plain not fun. It lasts an hour or two too long and the dungeon design is just bland.

Wow, I finished it within 90 minutes. To be fair, I was a bit (like 15 levels) overleveled, but does it really take that long? How long was the whole chapter for you?

One appears in a small grove north of hammerhead at certain times of the day (sorry, I don't know the actual times) and one is the boss of Malmalam Thicket dungeon. (I don't know if bosses respawn though)

Earlier in the topic I compared Chapter 13 to the Fade from Dragon Age, and I personally think it still holds. Not the worst thing ever in video games I think, but it is a major slog of 30 minutes of content stretched out to 2 hours and definitely will not be fun in subsequent replays.

Too bad SE won't offer a "skip Chapter 13 outside of major cutscenes and bosses" for NG+ or something.

That makes sense. If I was having trouble taking on the enemies and trying to stealth I think I would have found it irritating.

I haven't tried to power level or anything, just taken my time, as I always do with FFs.

Don't get me wrong, the dungeon looks cool as fuck, and the design is just genius ! but the platforming ugggh.

This is legitimately one of my worst gaming experiences and I love this game to death. I almost feel proud for completing this.

The problem with the dungeon is that the controls are nowhere near tight enough to allow for the level of platforming that is required.

This is exactly my problem. The design of the dungeon is amazing and has very clever puzzling, but goddamn those controls to hell.
