This game is great overall, but certainly has some elements that are bad. However, I'm getting a 'so bad, it's good' vibe from it believe it or not.
The bad parts actually entertains me more than displeases me. The haphazard story telling, the cup noodle quest, the voice acting, etc.
I mean some parts I've gone through are so bad, but I have a hard time getting mad at it, I just laugh.
I'm just about to start Chapter 13 and I'm putting on my gaming seatbelt, gaming helmet, and made sure my gaming insurance is order. I think this is going to fun...
What's the best way to get AP in the post game and in what order do I want to be unlocking things? Do I need to max the grid before I do the hardest challenges?
Man they really didn't want you keeping Iris around more than necessary. A friend of mine said he's had her around for like 10 hours, and as soon as I saw how useful she could be in the Malmalam thicket I wanted to get right back to side quests, unfortunately I ran out of time with my chocobo and I wasn't given any other option other than to have Ignis keep going to Cape Caem. I suppose I could have huffed it on foot for a bit until I reached a chocobo rental post but I didn't feel like taking that much time lol.
I'm currently in Chapter 5, almost 20 hours in, I've been doing a lot of side quests and little activities. So, I'm wondering, how much of the game is left and how big is the world map?

Is there any reason why after several days and completing a quest cid still won't give me my weapon? You know what, fuck it. I am so done with this game.
Haha this game is busted. Ignis can no longer fight because he's somehow equipped one of my swords and since he can't use it he just runs around in circles until he dies.
go to your menu and choose quests ,select each one and return to the game. are there any that say to "wait" or any that say to hand in an item? you can't tell which is "active" if you know what i mean. It's so confusing the way they did it.
lol the master tonberries, that dungeon was really long i was wondering if i went the wrong way at some points i almost wondered if running UP the stairs progressed it like a trick/puzzle cuz of how long it was xD
Hopefully you can fix that. I don't think I can complete any more cid quests, given that it thinks I have the weapon I want upgraded equipped. I tried returning to the title and reloading a save, but nope.
Would have been pretty upsetting if I had any intention of tackling the post game.
Have been walking a lot to level Gladio's skill and man, it's kinda dissapointed how much invisible walls are in the deeper zones of the map. A lot of places oyu can't even cross it but you're forced to go through the roads.
I don't care what anyone says, Chapter 9 was amazing.
Leaviathan fight was easy as but epic at the same time. And the CGI for Luna's death really got me...
Also liking chapter 10 so far. The tension in the group is palatable and only having crappy tin food or cup noodles available at camp really sends everything home...

I kept getting irritated at stuff like that when doing quests. There had been a lot of times I'd been running towards a quest marker through the fields, and then I'd get blocked by something in the way(can't see it on the map of course, be it an invisible wall, conveniently placed rocks or trees which somehow block you). In the end I'd have to go all the way back and just follow the road nearer to the checkpoint, and then venture off towards the quest marker.
I've got 24 hours on the game right now and currently on Chapter 6. My thoughts so far:
- The technologies behind the graphics is great. The overall performance is a massive improvement over Duscae demo; framerate is a lot more stable and the IQ is noticeably better.
- Soundtrack was great as expected, but I already knew that ahead because I've been listening to whatever tracks they've already released.
- I kinda miss Noct's techs in Duscae, but I guess it's also a good idea to relegate them to allies.
- Ascension system is basic but good enough. I like that every available choice I have is always worth considering.
- I did not expect that I'd enjoy the photos Prompto takes every time you make camp. Silly feature on paper, but actually felt nice to have.
- Voice acting / direction fluctuates between above average and substandard. In the scene where
Gladio scolds Noctis for constantly whining when they got split during the Titan fight, Noctis uttered the most timid and out of place "Get off my back" I've heard.
It was Chaos Wars levels of bad.
- Sidequest design is such a downgrade compared to the Witcher 3. (minor)
A lot of them are literal fetch quests. Prince Noctis? How about Fedex Driver Noctis?
- There are quite a number of disappointing invisible walls. Open world designed is flawed.
I was doing the quest to take a photo on Ravalogh. Wow, I was really enjoying the dungeon! I thought I was going into an epic end to the photo quest line because I totally dug the level. I tried to explore other parts before the photo area. Oh shit, first dungeon I explored that had a campsite. Oh shit, what's that big pit down there? Oh shit I'm jumping down, big eggs, oh shit here comes absolutely fuck all. Oh, there's a smaller path that led to a Royal Arm. This will surely trigger a cutscene angering a big monster and no I just slid back to the beginning of the dungeon so now I have to hike back up to take the damn photo. THE PHOTO HAD NOTHING TO DO WIT WITH ALL OF THAT.
I genuinely thought my game glitched so I googled and
found out that it's just for a Lv60 Hunt, which I will not do at Lv35
- I feel like I'm missing parts of the game.
How about showing instead telling that the empire invaded Lestallum? That would have made so much more impact. Bu then again, who was Jared and why should I care? Oh he's that old dude I met for like a minute.
Playing without 1.02 would have been such a mistake.
- Absolutely miserable load times. When doing quests, the question is if it's faster to drive or to load fast travel.
- Other gripes: tiny font size, can't sprint in some towns (hate Galdin Quay), magic could have been handled better, shinies are not as satisfying as chests for big treasures, "imperials above us!" too frequently
Yet somehow I'm enjoying the game. Something about XV makes it feel better than the sum of its parts.
He still kinda has them. Don't know if it's the real control method as it doesn't seem to work all the time but holding back and pressing/holding circle gets Noctis to do a bunch of tech moves like in Duscae. Like you can do the spear charge, charge a great sword swing, back flip with a normal sword.
You can do the tempest move too with a greatsword after a strike, letting go of circle till he steps back and press/hold circle again.

Oh, really? I thought Tempest was pretty much Gladio's Tempest now. What about the dragoon drop? I really liked the drain attack but I don't think Noct will have it built in now.
Has anyone enountered the same bugs in Chapter 13?
Got stuck in a door and had to reset game cause I couldn't get out.
After a while, an enemy couldn't do any damage to me for some reason.
Worst off, in the Foras fight, he teleports out of the battle arena with no way to get to him or to get him back in, forcing me to start over again. Unless it's intentional and I'm missing something?
This is the first time I've ever encountered a bug in this game and they all come in this one chapter lol.
Edit: Well, great I have to fight the Iron Giant again. I think I'm done for the night ugh.

Not sure about dragoon drop. I suppose just death drop may be used with the Lance? Or just the combo moves when using the Lance in midair. Cant recall using it like it was in duscae anyway.
Just experiment with letting go off circle and pressing/holding during combos. Also using direction and circle too. Like charging a great sword swing doesn't seem to work 100% for me so not sure. Sometimes I hold back and he just continues the combo or does the tempest move.

Tempest - You can activate it by pressing the attack button when Noctis has raised his greatsword over his shoulder.
Dragoon drop - When in the air directly above an enemy, tilt the left analog stick down when attacking,
Drain attack - Ability inherent to the Blood sword, each strike regains a small amount of health.
