Final Fantasy XV |OT| There and back again.

I thought the design was clever, one of the better dungeons I've played so far.
Even if I didn't figure out that I missed a bunch of those panels you have to activate until I was running around in circles and had to look up a FAQ.

I spent two hours looking for the headlights and inadvertently did the entire dungeon looking for them.

If there's one aspect of this game I don't like, it's the rate you gain AP. I'm 78 hours in the game, characters in their mid 70s. Starting to work on the post-game dungeons and the last few odds and ends.

I need 16530 AP in order to max out my grid. A few tours with the guys, some warp strikes and a little drive isn't really going to contribute much overall. It's ridiculous, something I'd liek to see addressed in future patches, especially if they're going to be adding more hunts in updates and DLC. It's not FFX levels of post-game grinding bad, but it's definitely up there.

Yeah, this is a big problem for sure. It might be one part that and one part a ton of things are really expensive but it's pretty crazy. I finished the game with maybe 30-40% of the grid unlocked and the skills you learn to gain AP barely contribute anything (1 point for driving... really???).

Final Fantasy XV |OT2| That's it! I've come up with a new thread!

I like it!

This has probably been asked before but I'm in chapter 3 and just turned in a ton of exp and now have 550 pts to spend. I'm conflicted between going for a bunch of <99 abilities or invest in one 333 ability. I've read that airdance + osmosestrike is good...is it that good? What about getting an extra magic spell per craft? Or should I just grab all the cheap abilities instead?

Ardyn saves us, but the empire captures our car and that's it? Everything appears so casual and it doesn't seem to make any sense.

Seriously, fuck Castlemark Tower and Red Giants' infinite vacuum glitch, so annoying. Also why the hell aren't my summons working? I pressed the trigger when the prompt appeared but nothing happened.

You hold the button down until the summon happens.

Castlemark Tower is not glitched, you just to need to go to the fourth part and follow a path that is easy to miss. go to youtube , i saw a video that made me follow the correct one to the boss

Fishing - Around 2-3 hours in Vesperpool
Survival - Rubberband your sticks together for a long time. (Not too sure on this, I got it after finishing the game)
Cooking- Buy luncheon meat and cook at camp. 30 mins.
Photography - You're almost there. You'll get there soon enough naturally.

Survival will be longest: going from level 1 to 10 require 30 hours of straight running, and so from 7 to 10 should be around 15 hours of running still. Fishing and cooking can be done relatively fast simply by doing them, and photography should level well provided you rest often enough for Prompto to "empty" his camera (basically, he only takes so many pictures at a time).

So yeah, that's gonna take a while still.

Edit: You could of course rubber band the survival skill by leaving your system on and having noctis run in circles by tying the left and right stick together with a rubber band. In that case, raising the level of fishing and cooking to 10 should take less than 5 hours combined. Photography will go up pretty naturally.

These. There is an accessory Prompto can wear that will increase the amount of photos he can take. Also, spam the Snapshot ability five times a day in-game.

Damn the length disparity between the survival one and the others is a joke.

Might as well get the platinum now though since the fishing and cooking ones are easy and short and I'm already close to the photography one. Will just rubber band my sticks as no way I'm running for that length of time.

Thanks a lot guys, much appreciated!

Just finished chapter 7, I didn't think I was going to make it out of that dungeon, I had to use my megalixers :(

Aranea
is pretty cool, except for that ridiculous hat/mask thing.

Still really enjoying it despite it's obvious flaws. I really don't like infiltrating bases, the trial and error sneaking after some army dude wasn't fun. And now Noctis is dressed as an olde worlde deep sea diver, I can already tell this part is going to suck.

It makes perfect sense, it's just not particularly well written.

They defeat Titan.

Ardyn has proven to have an alternative agenda to the empire, even going so far as to directly aid the group and convince the Emporer to capture Noctis and not kill him.

Ardyn helps them find Titan, then when the Empire arrive he helps them escape.

The Empire are left with only the car, which makes sense for them to take as it will impeded/lure the group.

Ardyn drops them off somewhere safe and leaves. No doubt to return when the group need a little nudge back on course.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
So the reddit adamantoise strat is legit. I didn't even have as good of gear as the guy who posted that thread (Was only able to get my strength to like 856) but it still only took me like 13 mins?

Now just got to grind out fishing/cooking/survival/photography and I'll have the platinum.

I followed all that except the bit about
Ardyn convincing the Emperor to capture Noctis
. I didn't realise he was doing it with the Emperor's kind of approval.

cutscene early in the game has the emperor talking to ardyn and other higher ups. Emperor wants Noct dead, Ardyn convinces him otherwise.

Wow, I don't remember that at all, I didn't think we had seen the Emperor in person. I might check out the early cutscenes on Youtube to remind myself of some things.

yea it's a really short cutscene and it's the only time we get to see the emperor in game.

He's not.

There's an earlier cutscene that shows Ardyn convincing the Emperor that Noct is worth more alive.

Then it becomes clear he's simply trying to give Noct the best chance of survival while I guides him through the plan he has laid out.

Ardyn rescuing Noct was very much against he Empire's wishes, evident by the fact they sent in imperial forces to capture him.

Ok explain this story end to me here

Ive been following it well and knew everything up until the point he sacrificed himself. Why did no kings in the past have to do this? He sacrificed himself to remove ardyn but yet won't the monsters eventually come back with the crystal gone.

Also was that Regis dreaming of the wedding or did it actually happen

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!!!! Lol

Airdance/Osmo is very good, first 333 skill I got. After that, I didn't get another one for a long while (Next one was Crit. Warp Strikes), so feel free to get the smaller ones after that. Skills like Regenerate come to mind for example.

He was chosen to sacrifice himself to end the darkness brought about by Ardyn's corruption. The line of Kings that came before him were merely the breeding lineage for the eventual chosen one.

The scene of Noct and Luna is them in the afterlife.

Edit: actually, this isn't quite right... see my further explanation below.

Just finished the game with very mixed feelings.

The good:
- The brotherhood *pun intented* of the main cast.
The mid-credits camp scene made me shed a tear.
- The OST Apocalypsis Noctis is GOAT
- The main plotline

The bad
- How the story is handled.
The mission was to get the ring and then use the ring to activate it. I think they didn't really explain the need for the king's weapons or the gods. Also did we see the emperor like at all in the game? Take notes XV, VI had evil emperor and true villain and they could spend some time on both of them.
- The structure of the game. I really don't think it should have been as open worlded as it was. Imo the car should have been just plot device to move forward like the
train was.
. The open world part didn't really have any meaningful part in the overall story, just side mission after side mission.
- Combat didn't have much depth. Idea to change magic into item was ok, but spells should just been auto-replenished when you camped. Also ally damage meant I only used magic for the pre-emptive attack.

The Ugly
Chapter 13. This chapter was one of the worst gaming experiences I have ever encountered. Way too fucking long and game design was from the 90's. Also tight corridor's killed the camera.

Hard to say if the game would have been better if it hadn't been in development hell.

Right, I have it now lol. Thanks, some of the things I forget are partly because I keep meandering off to do hunts for hours. That is one good thing about linear games, I can remember all the plot points easily.

Actually, not quite.

Ardyn was chosen eons ago as the chosen one to deal with the Starscourge, which is the event that turned people into Daemons.

Ardyn attempted to absorb the daemons to save his people, yet the process renders him unclean and the crystal rejects him as the saviour. A side-effect is that he becomes immortal.

Then a new line is started to breed a new chosen one. Ardyn's bitterness and jealously leads him to vow to end the line, destroy the chosen one, and get his revenge. He also craves his death, so regardless of whether his plan is a success he will "win".

Just finished Chapter 13.

...THAT was the infamous Chapter 13? The near-unplayable, 4-hour slog that made some people knock 2-3 full points off their review scores and others consider giving up on the game altogether? The very nadir of gaming, the ordeal that inspired so much wailing and gnashing of teeth? The worst section of a game some people have ever played?

I swear, GAF's hyperbole knows no bounds (yes, I have read THAT thread). Sure, it was overlong. But aside from that, it was...fine. Nowhere near the miserable experience people said it was.

I really liked how completely different it was to what had come before, and it made a nice change of pace from the rollercoaster ride of the previous few Chapters. It had some nicely creepy moments, the slow drip-feed of information about the origins of the daemons and MTs was well implemented, the new mechanics of using the Ring of the Lucii were kinda fun, and the Chapter hit a few very sincere emotional beats (rescuing Prompto, him revealing his insecurity over his origins and the others accepting him without question, Noct leaving his bros behind to enter the Crystal). Shave half an hour off and we're golden.

Like, it's clear that a lot of people utterly despise it and hated every minute of it, and I don't want to dismiss what are clearly genuine and heartfelt opinions, but...I just don't get what was so unfathomably awful about it. Am I taking crazy pills?

Now on to Chapter 14...the game has deep, undeniable flaws, which I'll probably talk about when I'm done, but I'm still absolutely loving my time with it and will be truly sad when it's all over.

Anyone else stop playing to wait for the "big update"? Im perpetually grinding in Chapter 3 at lvl 30 now lol.

How the F are you supposed to defeat Ignis and Gladiolus when training at camps. I barely make a dent in either of them.

It took me a few tries but heres my tips:
- Hold dodge at the start to avoid the throwing attack
- Take out Ignis first cause he can heal and hes weaker and has that annoying status effect attack
- Dont sprint, you need to conserve ST for warp attacks, just be smart with your movement and dodge constantly
- Use warp attacks religiously... remember its more powerful the further you warp, so run away from Ignis, warp attack, run away and repeat
- Its much easier when you take out Ignis, just take it slow and dodge
- Use a potion or 2 to insure yourself from a one hit kill, if you need more that, just die cause its a waste of potions

Nope. Was gonna go through these deep dungeons but nope.

Same design once you open the vault doors in all of them, and it's not even fun.

No were the ones taking crazy pills for enjoying it. I was super entertained that entire chapter. From start, to end. I don't have any issues with it aside from maybe shaving off a few minutes of it.

I just rewatched it and you are right.
He is the number 2 of the empire though, so it's not that far fetched that no one tries to stop him at all, because he only reports to the emperor.

Hopefully some of the added cutscenes will flesh this out.

It's annoying when Ignis spends most of his time dead or dying in real battles.

He shouldn't be, in fact none of them should be dying much more often than the others.

A lot of enemy damage is actually tied to Noctis. If you successfully avoid certain attacks, like larger AOE, it can mitigate team damage entirely.

You can set them up with good accessories to keep them alive, this means unlocking 2x accessories asap. Also make sure to upgrade the Teamwork skills.

It had game design from the 90's. Go to a place and get key, go to next place, get another key, go to third.. Hey, you get poison gassed and must deactivate it to proceed.

Also camera was awful.

It basically felt like bad Resident evil.
