Only a few hours in but I'm a little confused by the abruptness of the way the plot and characters are presented, as if I'm supposed to already know who everyone is here - is that because I haven't watched Kingsglaive ?

Plot's because you haven't watched Kingsglaive, characters because you haven't watched Brotherhood (which is really fun and free!)

it's a problem

Eeeeeeeeeee that's the ink!! Almost want to grab my tablet and just use a digital version of the guide so I don't ruin this

nVKLn7F.jpg

Wait, what happened there? Is that the Piggyback Collectors Edition Guide? Does the ink smudge by merely touching it?
I preordered it too. It hasn't arrived yet but I'll send it right back if the quality is this bad. :(

Damn i'm in a dilemma.
Secondary missions and hunts absorb me but at the same time i level up too much at a point that i can break the game.
But on the other hand i don't want to advance in history because each chapter is so fucking short. (i'm in chapter 5)

What do I do GAF?

I'm in the boat of it feels good to be over powered for your efforts. Let's put it this way, I hit 20 hours and was level 40 in chapter 3. So, playing the main quest is a breeze, but I don't mind. There are other challenges to face elsewhere.

It's an amazing guide, but it does seem like any finger drag with pressure causes the shit to smear. I'm starting to see where my fingers rest on certain texts while holding the guide open due to the fact it's new and of course doesn't stay seated yet in the early pages

I watched both Brotherhood and Kingsglaive and the way the story is presented is still messy.

Such a downer when the rest of the game is pretty alright.

Wow, just completed the
Behemont hunt to unlock chocobos
and it's was really good, loved how the tension about the fight is built up from the very beginning

Regarding this fight, anyone knows how to target items (e.g. exploding tanks) when using magic?

Not even going to say because mentioning it would be a spoiler etc. Not going to play with people like that.

It's a lot less coherent so far than Pokemon, but it's obviously not unbearably childish like Pokemon's was. I couldn't stand Sun / Moon's story at all, it was 'grit your teeth' stuff for me. Here, on the other hand, at least I enjoy the company of the characters, who are adults and behave as such.

I thought Sun and Moon was incredibly charming. I loved every bit of it. Looks like here the characters are good but the story itself is a mess. Ugh I'm pretty on the fence about this. Didn't someone here say the story gets really great at the end and has a really good ending. FFXII is one of my most hated FFs because I couldn't stand its story and most of its characters but the ending was really great and it kinda made up for the mediocrity of the rest of the story.

So i hit the redeem DLC button on the stupid road trip site this morning and it said email sent but still haven't got anything. Yes i've been checking spam mail. Who do I contact, Amazon or SE? The site seems to be ran by SE, I really don't want to contact Amazon again after dealing with them last night about my DE not being shipped. Is the stuff even worth the hassle? I would just be happy getting my damn game at this point.

That's not normal though. :( That's incredibly cheap. And they advertized it being printed on high quality art paper.

Any others having this issue with the guide?

Got my collectors edition strategy guide and it's gorgeous.

But the lithograph isn't the best quality sadly...

Does your ink easily smudge too?

I'm going to contact piggyback and see what they say. Maybe mine was defective I can even see fuzz in the text like it wasn't printed correctly possibly?

Hmm hard to tell. The Witcher 3 overall is bigger. XV's world feels massive mainly cause everything is more spaced out unlike with TW3. Yesterday I tested the map on foot and on car. On foot it took me exactly 1 hour to get across (no sprinting) on a main road. On car it took 10 minutes to reach from end to the other.

But yea it's obvious they had to scale things down whether cause of budget or time. It's another MGSV/Bioshock Infinite scenario.

All of that stuff is totally incomparable because every game measures its distances differently. If you go by the distances offered in the game itself, the world of Eos is incredibly small.

But in terms of actually playing, it should be sufficient to say that it is a very big world with a lot of stuff to do in it.

Sell most of them.

Damn, the main reason I wanted the game is because of how big the map was supposed to be. I love large maps because it helps with the immersion. This is pretty disappointing, especially considering the side quests are supposedly pretty boring. I'll have to look at some reviews and see if I should reconsider.

UPS delivery rescheduled until tomorrow. First time Amazon has ever let me down. Feels bad.

Oh well. I've waited 10 years. What's one more day?

I tried to smear mine (Collector's Edition Guide) and it doesn't happen but I'm still going to wear something or be very careful handling it.

Again any tips for the level 14 hunt Squash the Squirmers?

If you're struggling, play the Justice Monsters V pinball game, get 80 treasure chests and then quit to receive your Platinum Bangle. It'll give you a massive HP boost.

Aside from that, Libra scan enemies and exploit their weaknesses.

I spend so much money on FFXV. I really don't need this book if it is generally of bad quality.

Hmm...would still suck if ViciousDS just got a bad copy. :/

Just bought the official Guide, so if any of you got some questions feel free to ask.

edit: Nvm, there are plenty of us here :D

It's absurd that a 2 hour movie is practically a requirement to understand the plot. If that's true that is beyond annoying.

By no means it's a small map, it makes sense for this game. It will take you a lot of time to do and discover everything.

And keep in mind this world has very well crafted dungeons for you to discover.

I got the guide too but didn't notice smear while shifting through the first 20 pages or so. If there is a digital option I will use that to be safe (though I don't see one so I dunno).

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Okay so I played (chap 1 spoilers)
the shit pinball game for an hour and got a titanium bangle and a trophy. What does this mean? Is that a one time item?

It definitely does feel like the story and characters work better if you watched the movie and anime.

People should at least watch Brotherhood, it's actually good and gives you a good backstory for each of your bros.

How do I perform this? Thanks!

"Okay, let's just get back to main quest for now"

*Check the location options for driving*

"What? I have a side quest available? Cool let's do that first!"

*Recommended level 50*

"Main quest it is."

So uh not 100% related to the game itself, but I'd like to watch Kingsglaive before starting up the game, and I was wondering if there was any (legal) way to watch it online in the Japanese audio? Or is getting the Blu-ray the only option? At least it's pretty cheap now ($13 on amazon.ca), so I guess it wouldn't be a big deal.
