A technical question. Starting from one dungeon in chapter 6
The optional one with the royal tomb
the camera is being strangely close to noctis whenever not in battle. This continued in the
lighthouse
, when I stopped playing. Is this a feature during this part of the game or what? I checked a gameplay video of the part, and the camera acted like that there too. Pretty sure it wasn't this close to Noctis before (you can't even see his legs properly).

i found all 5 at night time. took like 10 minutes. none of them are actually in the water even though whats-her-face makes it sounds like you have to go in the water

I found 4, wandered all over for about 30 minutes looking for the last one. Eventually looked up a guide that showed where they were, but one wasn't where the guide said until I left and came back. Bug or glitch maybe?

25 hours in, still in Chapter 3. I can't stop doing hunts/side-quests, i'm just having so much fun. I should probably move on though, since i'm level 50 already :|

Can anyone tell me when the full map opens up?

Holy, you're level 50 in chapter 3. I thought I was high at level 30.

So I just started this today, and I'm having a lot of fun.

I heard nothing is missable in-game, which is nice since I'm not using a guide, but I did read that you can miss a trophy for beating
Ifrit
on Normal. This isn't a hidden fight or anything, is it? I'm playing on Normal now, and will remain so for the rest of the game, so if it comes naturally through story progression, I don't need to worry about missing it. If it is something you need to manually unlock, how do you do it?

You don't need to hold it down. Just hit L3 right before it depletes and you are good.

May I ask what controller settings you're using? I have mine set to Type B and you only need to hold down the square button while using the left stick to move forward until your stamina is just about to deplete, then let the square button go. I know you can click L3 to initiate a sprint, but I'd find it clicking again to be cumbersome.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. LOL

Anyone else find it nearly impossible to see icons on the map or minimap? They're tiny and the contrast is extremely poor, especially for a color blind person.

I would not have expected to say this but only a half-hour in this game has made me smile and chill-pill out more than most games have within the past year. This is my first time seeing this stuff as I bowed out from demos and the like, so I know it might be a late surprise on my part too. xP But honestly, this is the game I've been waiting for, even if it may not have been the Final Fantasy XV/XIII Versus I originally expected. I'mma take my time savoring this.

So the bros are silently talking in the car. Am I supposed to be hearing anything?

There are silent driving scenes just like with camping. Just flavor.

When they have something to talk about it will be voiced. Edit: beaten by ninja

Also, re car, why can't I listen to Fast Lane while cruising?

Hey guys, Amazon sent me a set of replacement codes for the three weapons plus the camera kit and some other stuff for Xbox One that I already. PM me on here if somebody would like them.

JESUS. FUCKING. CHRIST.

I actively despise this game right now. Please, I'm begging you - explain to me why I'm fucking retarded and can't seem to understand this combat system. Please. Because I'm this close to throwing my $300 UCE into a closet and never touching it again.

I haven't been this mad playing a game in ages, and I'm four hours in.

I posted yesterday:

I'm level 13/12/12/12.

I just took the "Red in Tooth and Claw" Hunt from the Chocobo farmer. It's the first quest I've embarked on in Ch. 3.

There are 9 things I have to kill across the street. I've attempted 10 times and have only defeated one on one occasion.

I did wait mode. Beyond not having a fucking clue as to what the botton prompts are doing - I realize they're weak against ice and javelins. Orange icons. So I equip a x3 blizzard spell and Drain Lance.

No matter how much fighting I do, I die in like 3 hits. And with nine fucking enemies bouncing over the screen, I can't avoid getting hit. I try holding square. I get fucked.

I try one at a time. I get fucked.

I try sneaking around. I get fucked.

I'm burning through Hi Potions. I'm trying to warp - but a warp just gets me in between five enemies and I get fucked.

Half the times I hit square when prompted to dodge/parry, I get hit anyway.

Seriously, everyone just keeps saying "take your time," or "go one at at time."

HOW? I attack one, and they all INSTANTLY come and shove my shit in.

I want to enjoy the game... but this is infuriating.

I'm begging for help here.

There needs to be a law passed that southern accents are just not allowed in video games. It feels borderline offensive when Cindy says purrty like she watched Deliverance one too many times.

You should probably level up some first, then maybe come back later. I did the quest a few hours ago at about Lv19 or 20, with decent weapons, and surprisingly it can still take awhile to kill them all, especially with all the shrubbery or whatever in the way. I wasn't really having a hard time per say, but it was slightly annoying due to the chaos of fighting so many small enemies, so I could only imagine what you're going through.

If you haven't already, try out Control Type B; makes it a lot easier to dodge when you're in the midst of attacking.

Is anyone having trouble turning in the quest called "Emergency Delivery" to the cook named Taka? I have all the ingredients but can't seem to be able and turn in.
It's a quest where cindys garage is.

This same thing is happening to me. I think it's glitches because I picked up the ingredients from a different place to where the quest wanted me to go (I got them from a monster on the way to the second tomb when I had Cor in the party), so it's triggered that I need to return to Takka but when I go there he just gives you the standard responses from when you don't have the ingredient. I tried restarting the game and the PS4. If this is stuck forever I will have an aneurysm, my brain cannot take incomplete quests sitting there. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

So weird!! This happened to me too. I had to save and reload the game because the camera was so close up on Noctis I couldn't look around properly and it happened in the same exact spot. Never happened again.

Does the game punish you for attempting higher than your level hunts ?

Already did two hunts underleveled, got pitiful amounts of experience.Or is it based on the amount of time you take to complete a fight ?

I got way more experience for quest spoiler
helping a cat -_-

Congrats. You officially broke the game.

Uuugh do these sidequests get any better? On chapter 3 and everything is a hunt or a fetch quest. Combat is fun and so is exploring but these quests are the worst

Sounds frustrating.

A few suggestions:

1. some of the hunts are quite difficult, no shame in leaving for later.

2. When holding down defend, Noct will keep dodging most attacks. If you go attack immediately after dodge you'll get special counter attacks that end to be resistant to staggering. Against lots of small fast enemies I like to counter with a powerful broadsword then go right back into guard. Also, keep an eye on warp recovery points. Easier to escape to if you don't hard lock, which there's no reason against large groups of fast enemies

3. Bros' techs are your friends, regroup for recovery and before spell cast, tempest for aoe.

4. Gear can make a difference. You can get some good HP and strength accessories from pinball at second outpost (where you first see Umbra).

I think you get more money and items from hunts then experience and vice versa with other side quest.

You can easily overlevel in this game if you do the side quests lol.

It's been 60 hours for me, and I'm still on chapter 3 exploring and doing hunts and sidequests and having a blast. I can't help it, I love exploring this world and seeing the party interactions that happen inbetween.

In other news, checking photos after resting....

*prompto took a picture of Ignis clipping into Noctis*

Noct: "Well, would you look at that"

Ignis: "One of a few pictures of us together"

In more ways than one, Ignis...

Hold square to parry.

If you're using the weapons you recently acquired, watch out because they drain your health on every attack.

I had to leave, camp for the night, and come back the next day before it appeared.

yep. same thing ended up happening with me.

This seems to be a recurring theme. Can't wait until I'm higher level and can travel around at night without worrying about a demon killing me

level up, buy weapons with better stats and equip them, eat food to get boosts, do the combat tutorials again. Hold to parry rather than press. Try to attack enemies from behind as much as you can (even when they're actively fighting you, no need to be stealth). Use your AP via the Ascension menu to enhance your abilities. Use your buddy techniques whenever possible. Hold triangle to warp to a warp point when it's in view (not just press).

I did this bounty hunt around level 20, and it was still rough. I got knocked down to 0 health and had to use an elixir twice. Go back to the starting areas, do bounties you haven't finished yet and do side-quests. Some side-quests are so basic and they net a crazy good amount of XP.

Stock up on magic and invest in the skill tree. It's your free get out of jail card 3 times if you have them maxed out for each spell type. I decimate groups of enemies with lightning for example (the spell not the annoying character) lol

I guess this game is either easy or hard for you. Kinda like Catherine or FFXIII's specific boss (which I found easy btw).

Anyone get Airdance yet? How
awesome
is it?

I guess this game is either easy or hard for you. Kinda like Catherine or FFXIII's specific boss (which I found easy btw).

It's neither for me so far. Except nighttime I suppose, last encounter was 3-4 Iron Giants, a Reaper, and lastly some Magitek soldiers were getting ready to descend before I called it quits.

But in terms of just fighting in general, I'm loving it, though adjusting to Control Type B is taking longer than I thought. And when I make mistakes, I don't find it infuriating, but rather acknowledge that I can clearly do better. Because when you do truly perform well in a fight, it's just a thing of beauty.
