Costs 333 AP for the Airdance node, 407 total to get to it from the center of the combat tree.

Yea I know lol, I already obtained the prerequisite skills. I was talking about the skill that NoctisVsStar was mentioning, that lets you gain MP from attacking enemies.

52 osmostrike recover mp when an aerial attack connects.

This plat is easy, its going to be my first one it seems lol

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Thank you, everyone, for the help. I really do appreciate it. Truly.

But I guess it just straight-up doesn't click for me. I've tried everything that's been posted. I thought - or I guess, I was hoping - someone would say something and I'd go "oh shit, THAT'S THE ISSUE," as if I was completely missing some component of the combat system.

This game just isn't for me. At all. I don't mind tough combat - I loved Bloodborne and really enjoy things like Bayonetta. And I can enjoy deep customizations for combat - I adore MGS, for example and have played plenty of FF games in the past. But this game... just... ugh... 5 hours in and I'm just not having fun.

I finally gave up on the hunt. Decided to do some old quests. Drove 4 minutes to the pier to fish for the cat. Fished. Took 10 minutes of boring joystick toggling. Get fish. Run back to pier. Feed cat. Cat doesn't like it. I go to chef. Chef has dialogue. Asks me to go catch a fish. Prompted to talk again. Now I have the fish, I guess. I feed cat. I end quest. I go to car. I'm told not to drive. I run to trailer. Rest. Day time. I fast warp to other quest - Dave the hunter. I run around and MMO the fuck out of some dog tags. I button mash and easily win. Do the next quest - get three slime-o things at night. Get fucked. Realize this isn't fun and I turned the game off.

Maybe I'll give it another shot next week. But I'm done with this game for now. Glad everyone is having fun! But sometimes you just have to realize a game isn't for you.

Oh, haha, I think I missed a post-- my bad. Yeah that one is much more obtainable.

I'm in chapter 3; 13 hours at level 28.

I feel like a lot of people just do tons of side quests at chapter 3. Probably since the world opens up a whole lot more.

The game even encourages you too though.

It doesn't even seem to gate side quests either. I got side quests for
Duscae
when I hadn't even unlocked the area yet.

I was just in the most INTENSE fight with a Red Giant. It was like level 47 and I'm level 26 and we got rid of all those ice bombs and got this guy to half his health but he kept killing my allies. Then Titan comes out of nowhere and just slams this dude to death. So awesome.

JESUS. FUCKING. CHRIST.

I actively despise this game right now. Please, I'm begging you - explain to me why I'm fucking retarded and can't seem to understand this combat system. Please. Because I'm this close to throwing my $300 UCE into a closet and never touching it again.

I haven't been this mad playing a game in ages, and I'm four hours in.

I posted yesterday:

I'm level 13/12/12/12.

I just took the "Red in Tooth and Claw" Hunt from the Chocobo farmer. It's the first quest I've embarked on in Ch. 3.

There are 9 things I have to kill across the street. I've attempted 10 times and have only defeated one on one occasion.

I did wait mode. Beyond not having a fucking clue as to what the botton prompts are doing - I realize they're weak against ice and javelins. Orange icons. So I equip a x3 blizzard spell and Drain Lance.

No matter how much fighting I do, I die in like 3 hits. And with nine fucking enemies bouncing over the screen, I can't avoid getting hit. I try holding square. I get fucked.

I try one at a time. I get fucked.

I try sneaking around. I get fucked.

I'm burning through Hi Potions. I'm trying to warp - but a warp just gets me in between five enemies and I get fucked.

Half the times I hit square when prompted to dodge/parry, I get hit anyway.

Seriously, everyone just keeps saying "take your time," or "go one at at time."

HOW? I attack one, and they all INSTANTLY come and shove my shit in.

I want to enjoy the game... but this is infuriating.

I'm begging for help here.
that was a tough one, but a couple of techs and link attacks with my greatsword and i got it on my forst try... think i was 15 or so. Make sure you have a meal and accessories equiped.

Ignis' regroup is very important for any hard fight.

Okay, still not that far in but I gotta say, these dungeons have been so good. I heard about this but I still did NOT expect this at all. I mean, the camera's worse, so it really is a wonder they work as well as they do. Those high stakes, that feeling of danger, the banter, it's so atmospheric.

The story... Yeah.. So far they're actually telling a rather good story here, the characters are all rather compelling too, it's just presented in an absolutely terrible way which makes it all the more frustrating. The wait's been long but boy do I wish they had spent more time on fixing this and the average quality of the of the sidequests right now.

That transition from the Titan battle to the next chapter... There clearly was a scene missing there that I was looking rather forward to when it happened, so obvious and such a bummer. I assume this is merely a sign of things to come in this regard. :/

I really don't want to be that guy one bringing up Versus comparisons, overall I'm really damn happy with the game so far because of the combat, the dungeons and the party with their banter, but it seems clear to me that we got a major downgrade in the story department, so many of these old scenes are exactly what's been missing here and were directed so much better. And the plot stuff that does work in XV mostly works on a conceptual level, so can't help but feel the stuff I do like there are holdovers from that era. It's frustrating because this really didn't need to be this way. At least I've grown attached to the guys. I'll be okay.

But yeah, okay, these dungeons. Oh am I digging that.

(By the way, has anyone run into these really scary looking glitchy artifacts when using techniques? It happened towards the end of my last play session and I thought my PS4 was dying or something. WTF.)

So I must update my PS4 to version 4.0 in order to play the game, I currently have ver 3.55. I do not have Internet, on my phones hotspot and limited cellular data. Does anyone know about how big the file size is if I download ver 4.0?And how long it takes to download? Are we talking megabytes or gigabytes? Would a hotspot connection be stable enough to download it? If I fuck up and lose connection do I risk bricking my PS4?

Thanks.

Edit: Also will it automatically update all of my games once I connect it to my hotspot? I can't have everything start downloading at once, it's been months and I can't have gigs of overages on my plan.

In Chapter 3, fuck these Magitek soldier guys. This sure isn't the Duscae Demo anymore, they coming down in groups of 20. Worst thing is they are the same level as me, 16.

Unfortunate, but it is what it is I suppose. But yea, take a break, and hopefully it'll click for you at some point. I've certainly been in a few messy and chaotic fights myself. But I dunno, just the sheer flashiness of teleporting all over the place (The Blink skill midair is especially cool), as well as the animations just make it so addicting for me. It's like damn, I can't to go back out there and be a badass again. And fortunately, the controls weren't some major hinderance (to me anyways) that got in the way of me accomplishing that. The only thing I'm legitimately annoyed at right now is stuff like the shrubbery and what not; gets in my way far too often.

EDIT: Also fuck those Magitek soldiers. They come down far too often, to the point where even I sometimes get tired of engaging them. They're basically the Zubats of this game.

Deathdrop costs 28

Ah, now it all comes back to me. Thanks a bunch!

Have the courage of your convictions and say the game is bad. It's not that "it's not for you", it's that it's a bad game in almost every way that matters for an RPG. You're just seeing it for what it really is, imo.

I've had the exact same experience as you, I'm now at chapter 6 and it hasn't improved. However having followed the development of this game for 10 years and having paid 70 fucking euros I am damn well going to see then ending myself, that's for sure.

Magitech guys are annoying. When I am having a fight with a big foe like
Midgarsolom
I just want it to be an epic fight between us. mecha dudes dropping down isn't just annoying mechanic wise, it takes away from a feeling of having this fight with a massive beast somewhere in the wilderness...

Oh god, so much this. Sometimes it's impassable, or you do this warp mid combat and you end up with your screen filled with bushes. That's been... something. lol

Guys, I am in chapter 2, and need to ask a question that contains mild spoilers, but don't want any spoilers in the answer.

lol

At what point does the game turn into relentlessly driving you into more and more story stuff? As in, when should I aim to have my side quests done, for the most part? Chapter 8? I want to progress the story a bit and open the world up, and then maybe do side quests throughout chapters 3-6, roughly. Is this doable?

I just tried downloading the UK file from the playstation website and it was 300MB.

YMMV with other regions I guess, but shouldn't be that different.

This might be a dumb question, but the ability in the ascension grid that increases the hp of the party by twice the Humber of levels gained - is that an ongoing ability or do you only get the increase based on your current level and never again?

Thanks.

Exactly lmao

I've tried to make it somewhat interesting and just test how good my reflexes are in terms of parrying when I can't see for shit lol

Does warp striking ever get old? Cuz so far it's bangin every time I do it. Every time.

It has yet to do so for me. I especially love when it topples the bigger monsters. Also
Royal Arms seem to have unique animations for them, so that's extra cool!

Tap square to roll away in the direction you want.

Safest way to create space in large swarms of enemies.

Relying on the block button with large swarms will quickly deplete your mp,& so you enter stasis and die.

Also use warp points fequently, get a hit then roll away until you get a chance to spread the enemies out.

Hope that works for you.
This is real good advice. Creating distance is very important in surviving huge mobs.

I think you can turn off automatic updates, not sure where though. And you won't risk bricking your ps4, while it's downloading it just downloading, after the download finishes you can start the update.

This is pretty obvious but try and kill enemies through warp strike/blindside whenever you can as you get AP for it. I also unlocked the exploration nodes just to get more AP for doing everything.

Ah, now it all comes back to me. Thanks a bunch!

Also, could be wrong but the monster in the vid reminds of this.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
lol at chapter 8

ramuh came to my aid at the power plant mission. I must say shouldn't the power plant be destroyed already after what ramuh has done.

Just did the side quest in chapter 3 for
the chocobo...I had no idea it would end with that epic Behemoth fight.
It was some crazy kiting and dodging for like 15 mins cause I never figured out how to detonate the barrels lol.

I have to do something about Prompto's health, he has way less than everyone else and that's with an HP+ accessory. He dies so easily even on easy stuff.

I had a really weird glitch earlier, I couldn't move from the car after an auto journey, Noctis was stuck inside the car with the camera in first person mode, so I clicked on the regalia and went into manual mode and it started warping me to various of my active quest locations and initiating cut scenes and going to the load screen every five seconds before warping again, thankfully closing the application and loading it up again fixed it

I've played around 14 hrs and I'm on Chapter 3, Chocobos are awesome

I just had a fight with like 6 spiders dropping in every now and then, 2 fire giants and probably at least 5+ imperial drop ships. Was morning by the time I managed to get it done. You're surprisingly weak without food buffs early in the game.

I think the biggest issue I have with this game so far-- and it's not even really the game itself but rather the nature of development, but I think where we've been seeing the same environments for years, that they've really lost any impact or sense of wonder. It doesn't help that the world itself isn't particularly creative, but I think I would be into the world a lot more had I not already been exposed to it so much by this point through media, the Duscae demo, etc.

I did find Leide to be pretty bland, but Duscae IS very nice, it's just that I've seen so much of this place for years. I'm hoping that at some point I can find a better sense of wonder but I'm not holding my breath.

I like the game just fine, but there's just been no real "magic" to it and I think it's mostly because of what I just outlined there. The opening region IS incredibly bland though.

I don't mean to say it's a dumb question, but uh, okay, this seemed really obvious to me. Why would they punish you like that? Haha

I don't know, but I hope it never gets old. I don't think it will. Warp striking feels so goooooood

I'm having such a conflict between doing sidequests or just progressing the story. The game seems to weirdly pull you both ways, and I'm never quite sure if I'm underleveled or overleveled or what.

Chapter 3 is gonna take me so long to move on from, nearly 8 hours played (total), and I've just only scratched the surface of all there's to do in the new zone.

I spent nearly 3 hours just on Chapter 1...
