Would anyone know how to fix this? I've tried enabling/disabling the extension, reinstalling it completely, deleting the extension file manually from the App Settings/Roaming folder... etc. Each time I reinstall the extension, it keeps the settings from before, which I think is part of the problem.
This is a really primitive solution, but if you install the "Moveable Firefox Button" extension, that little space goes away. I only installed that because there's a glitch with Toolbar Appmenu Button extension where when you customize the toolbar, a big space appears where the firefox button used to be. I moved the button into the menu bar to stop this from happening, and that space also goes away. You'll just have to deal with installing another extension.

Thanks for the tip. It's a primitive solution, indeed, but it has solved my problem for now. Hopefully the Toolbar Appmenu's developer will fix that glitch in the near future.

Try: With only the page you want open and nothing else, change your home page again in Options to "use current".

WTF!? I installed it, and tried the sync feature, at which time it suggested I create an account. I clicked cancel, and after that the URL bar, Google toolbar, and the favorites bar disappeared. Not to mention, that it won't let me save the open pages, when I close the browser. Fuck this shit. =(

EDIT: Nevermind. I found where to return the default settings.

Any quick way of changing the transparency level of the top border? Seeing through it is kind of annoying. I hunted around in the menus but didn't see anything obvious.

Okay, just got FF4, how do I change the UI?
I've got huge Symbols in my top bar, not at all the sleek new small ones.

That sides, speed is great, picture browsing is much improved. Nice.

Right click top bar -> customize -> use small icons

Thanks, yeah, looks great.

Also, this thing is FAST. When scrolling by dragging the bar, it's now silky. Also, even large image threads scroll beautifully now.
Score: awesome/10

I have been trying FireFox and Minefield over the past few days, and I am liking them. But there is a little problem.

When I use FF/Minefield, I notice that my GPU temp runs in the 60 degree Celsius range, whereas with Chrome it remains around 50-53. I have tried turning off the hardware acceleration, but there is no change.

Anyone else experience this?

Is there any addon that will allow me to customize my own list of search engines on right click?
I want to be able to search on lets say: imdb, gamefaqs, gamerankings, wikipedia and a few other sites
Is there such an addon?

Anybody switch to Firefox from Chrome after this build?

Chromes biggest advantage was its speed, but now Firefox seems just as fast.
I did.

But in all honesty, I've been switching back and forth between Opera, FF and Chrome for the last 6 months all the time. Before that I used FF for years, and since FF4 I think I'm back to using the browser for a long time. Chrome and Opera were a pit-stop when FF3.6 was clearly starting to lag behind.

Me! Are you using amd gpu? Because of this i switched to Chrome, the gpu acceleration works as it should. Chrome > IE9 > FF4 for gpu loading, Mozilla fucked up their code.

I think there is a HUGE bug with the adress bar. It constantly keeps loosing adresses I'm using everyday and sometimes I have to reaccess the page until I can even begin to gind it in the awesome bar. Argh, so nasty >.<

Sometimes hitting backspace won't take me back a page, and clicking back won't take me back either.

This is after I have webpages to actually go back to, not opening a link in a new window.

Anyone else having this problem?

Just noticed a nice additional feature in Aurora (borrowed from Chrome) - when you're closing multiple tabs it keeps the close button under your cursor.

ScOULaris said:
There sure is. It's a must-have extension, IMO, and I think this functionality should be offered in the stock browser.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-to-search-bar/

That addon adds search engines to the upper right corner, but I want to have them on right click menu... You know "Search selected with Google..." but I want to be able to add a list of my own search engines and places to right click menu.

why, when I hover over a URL will it display the URL in the bottom left corner, but half the time in the bottom right corner? It seems to pick which side at random.

It changes based on what menus you have opened. If nothing is up besides defaults it will always be bottom left.

Is there any feature similar to Chrome's task manager (tab manager with memory consumption for each tabs) for Firefox?
Firefox does not have a process for each tab, so there is no such feature for it.

It moves when the mouse hovers over the URL, so that you can still access content behind it. For example, there may be a link you want to click but the URL bar is above it, so it moves when your cursor moves.

is there a way to force javascript links to open in a new tab and not a new window?

example, MLB.TV links open in a new window but i rather have the video open in a new tab.

any ideas?

I'm searching for a better text-to-image addon/script but so far I had no luck.

At the moment I have this installed:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/text-to-image/

background:
On GAF we try to not quote many pictures or a big picture or the same picture several times. Usually only the image link (either plain text or working link) is quoted w/o the tags. I agree with this practice and it's especially important e.g. in the funny pictures thread.
However, sometimes don't know which picture a gafer is actually referring to and I have to scroll back up or open the link manually in a new tab.
So I want a feature that lets me see the image of plain text and normal links by just hovering over the text with my mouse.

My problem is that the linked addon automatically displays the images instead of leaving the text links and I can't find an option to disable that. Though I limited the size of the images (otherwise it would defeat the purpose of only quoting links :p ).
Also, when you hover to see the image (size is also adjustable) it doesn't open a popup but integrates the image into the forum which is also not nice to look at (the "jump"/resizing).

Example:

normal/addon off:
hrz4B.jpg

with the addon(+size limiting):
KK13S.jpg

while hovering the mouse of the tiny thumbnail:
MVhy9.jpg

I found another addon CoolPreviews which I think works with popups, but it also loads every link (e.g. to websites) in these popup which I don't want. If someone knows a better fitting addon or settings/edits to mod the addons to my likings, I would be thankful.

You can probably make a userscript to get the URL of every image and add it to the title attribute.

Can someone help me?

Say I have maps.google.com open in one window, showing me one place.

I open a new tab, type in maps.google.com because I want to compare things....and it closes my new tab and switches me to the existing tab

Wtf?

How do I end this "feature"

Hold down Shift before you press Enter: http://www.firefoxfacts.com/2011/02/03/disable-switch-to-tab-in-firefox-4/

Or try this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/switch-to-tab-blacklist/

Thanks.

What an idiotic feature!

It's to prevent you from opening a hundred tabs of the same page. It can be especially useful if you use the new tab grouping feature of Fx4.

True, but not having an obvious way to bypass it is stupid. I never really noticed this issue until he mentioned it because... well my main browser is still Firefox 3.6 since some of the extensions I definitely need don't work properly with Firefox 4. :/

Where can I organize and reimport my bookmarks from previous backups?? The import bookmarks is nowhere to be found.

edit: nevermind, I had to do Show All Bookmarks. How dumb.

I didn't even know it would do that. You can easily bypass it by entering the whole URL into the address bar or scrolling past the switch to tab item.
