Good days. I remember getting it 2 weeks before release.
It's not okay to say you don't like a character based off of nearly two years of hype material? If the trailers, art, gameplay videos etc didn't make me like the main character, how would playing the game magically change that?
If it's okay for people to fall in love with a character based off trailers and gameplay vids (ie literally everyone with Stella from ffv13) then why isn't it okay to not like a character based off ad material?

This isn't a rivalry. These are fans downplaying games they haven't play yet.
I don't think GG and Nintendo care at all. A real rivalry is like Call of Duty vs Battlefield where the companies are trying to one up each other.

Yup, that's what I pulled from them as well.
This Ubisoft thing is really interesting anyway.
First of all Ubisoft made great / good open world games like AC 2 , AC IV , FC BD and bad games like Watch Dogs , AC III etc.
What is the difference? Execution. For example you can have AC towers in your game and create great challenges and stuff around them or you can create something extremely boring and uncompelling.
Horizon's behind the Wii U version of Zelda, let alone the Switch version if you look at the whole year.
No doubt the preorders are doing well for a new IP and Sony will aggressively cut the price, bundle the game with the system (if it reviews well)/give away on PS+ over the next few years

Oh, they don't care. "The rivalry persists" is just what I like to say whenever Zelda-related threads pop up in Horizon threads, or vice-versa, because it's always amusing when it happens. The rivalry exists for several people on GAF though, no denying that at this point.

I said now...not the whole year.....I was not trying to directly compare it to zelda, an established IP. I just used Zelda as context, to show there is good demand for Horizon.

I mean, not really. The relationship between COD and Battlefield is basically EA dishes out some trailers and a market strategy to compete with COD, and the internet proclaims COD is dead... then COD sells better than the battlefield. Everytime.
While I think comparisons between BOTW and Horizon is dumb, I miss the shade throwing that was seen in the 90's.

Story and context isn't going to make me enjoy the design of the character. It's not crazy to say that I enjoy the idea of the game but I don't like the design of the main character. It does nothing for me.
Where was all this defense force for characters based on trailers and gameplay when 90% of neogaf was crapping on the cast of FF15? It can't only be applied to this game becuse its apparently the second coming of Christ for neogaf.
I hope I enjoy the character when the game releases. But there's nothing wrong with not liking the character going in.

Sorry for the confusion. It's the design and presentation of the character I dont like. If she turns out being like Mother Theresa when I play this game I will enjoy the character from a story perspective, but from a design standpoint it still does nothing for me.

Disagree, it has also been right 95% of the time regarding hardware, It is an OK data point nothing more or less.
Considering they seemed to have greatly undershipped Nioh that could be part of the issue with it showing up the NPD charts for Feb. Its sold out in every Best Buy and Target around me. I believe KT even dropped the price of the digital version because demand for the game was so strong.

I'm gonna miss pre-realease Horizon threads, I swear every time I click on one there's something silly being argued for multiple pages. It's been a fun ride. Review Thread should be great though, hopefully Tree density guy, fog guy, her fingers are too long guy, Aloy is too ugly guy and all the Zelda vs Horizon guys and gals make an appearance.

I have been watching the list all the time and just in the last 24-48 hours did Horizon beat Zelda, and we're here talking about the Switch version only. If you add up WiiU version (9th) Zelda is easily above Horizon. At least on Amazon.
