Let's go buddy! Congrats man. How difficult was it?

Gotta put up 200 X 7-8 reps today on bench. It'll be a new PR as well.

Thanks mang. I put up 245x5 today and I had two visual spotters so I figured why not. It felt good and I even paused in the pocket.

You're gonna nail bench.

Was only able to get 200 X 5 on bench today. Still more than the 1 rep I needed for the third week of bench, but fuck I got 195 X 9 just last week. =(

GAF, what is the best digital pedometer/metric device that I can use on my runs? I want to nerd out on data.

My only requirement is that it needs to be lax on requiring a data connection *while* running. I live in Rainier, WA, and do most of my running on a trail that goes through the forest, some cattle ranches, and an equestrian center. Not exactly 4G territory. Sometimes not even G territory.

Look into the MotoActv i got one, gps enabled, lots of data, can link up with heart monitor straps, bike pedometer, and has mp3 capabilities as well as play nice with smartphones through its app

Still a PR though, right? Nice job :)

Another before and after. A couple summers ago I won a contest for a free year at the gym and snapped a picture with a trainer in a goofy flexing pose. Here I am wearing the same shirt.

Awesome progress, Sean!

Went ahead and ordered some chocolate and cookies flavoured protein from bulkpowders. I was considering some soy protein, but eh, I've yet to go wrong with whey.

Does anybody else have problems with foot supination when you're squatting? It's really diffictult to get rid of. When I try to move up during a squat both of my feet naturally start to supinate I guess. A little like this, but not as exaggerated.

I know that can't be good form.

Id say lower the weight, try a wider stance, and concentrate on pushing off your heels slowly through the motion

Get lifting shoes with a firm heel.

I guess it's time I bought some lifting shoes although the ones linked earlier on were a tad bit on the expensive side. Up until now, I've just been using the flattest shoes I could find.

I'll have to do this then. I feel like I have to concentrate on so many little things in my form, and if one messes up, it all kinda goes to hell. The movement doesn't feel natural at all even though toddlers can do it so easily. Ah well. I'll get this right soon enough.

Work on your ankle mobility.

Thanks, also am I correct in assuming that if two people followed the same training regime but one person decided to not have a calorie surplus but again do the same amount of reps/exercises that they would be as equally strong but the person who eats more would 'look' stronger?

For sure. I'll look around. Any recommended activities?

I guess it depends on the training regime, but I would think that the person eating the appropriate amount of calories for that routine, would actually be stronger because it would provide him or her the foundation and energy (I guess) to make the desired gains and make good progress.

No, because the caloric deficit would reduce or eliminate the muscle mass gains that are so important to progress. Neural gains only get you so far!

I could use some advice on a couple things if you guys don't mind me asking.

1) my schedule is not like most. I work Tuesday nights-Saturday nights(graveyard shift) 10pm-6am and 11pm-7am. I'm trying to figure out when I should go to the gym on the nights I work. Should I go when I get off work or go home and sleep then wake up and go to the gym? Should I try both to see which one fits the best?

2) Because of said schedule and getting off early in the morning, my eating habits and the whole eating breakfast/lunch/dinner and small snacks throughout the day have gone completely out the window. Should I still eat breakfast when I get home in the mornings even though I go to bed afterwards? This is the most perplexed I've been about my healthy eating habits.

I had a friend start SS today after months of f-around with Insanity and P90X.

He went to the gym for the first time in his life, was welcomed by a gym coach dude bro, he asked him what he was going to do, my friend said squats deadlifts and pullups, the coach rofled at him and dragged him through the gym making fun of his first day routine with the gym regulars.

My friend insisted on doing what he wanted, but was ultimately bullied into 4 sets of 10 on machines.

The old 6 meals a day thing isn't really something to worry about. Have you considered Intermittant Fasting?

I think the most common split is 16 fasting/8 feeding. I know reilo (rarely posts in here ) is/was doing IF.

If I was you, I'd treat your night shift beginnings like the morning. So eat "breakfast", work out, work, eat sack "lunch", home, "dinner" bedtime around noon or 1.
Nearly this exact schedule worked for me when doing overnights at planet fitness, but it takes some getting used to.

Hmm...

So I think I did something to my elbow with tbar rows. Ever since Thursday it's been bothering me a little.

It's not a sharp pain, it's like a dull, constant soreness. Looking online I might have tendonitits. I think I'm going to go through the motions of my other exercises this week, starting very light, and see what else bothers it. If it still has this constant, dull soreness by next week I'm making a doctors appointment.

My friends and I joke about a meek teenager doing an isolation exercise bodybuilding split accidentally walking into a black iron powerlifting gym and being forced to do nothing but squat variations. This is like some awful inverse of that. Judging by the routine he had your friend do, this trainer probably doesn't even know how to squat or deadlift, so why would he assume that what he was suggesting forcing was a better alternative?

The fact that all the regulars were revelling in ignorance with the moron trainer makes me fear that the percentage of stupid people in this world is even higher than I'd previously imagined.

I used to get tendinitis bad in my left elbow. It's just something you have to work around until you get through it. Ice helps and so does compression but the "cure" for me was just staying away from exercises that made it worse for awhile.

Yeah that's what I'm reading. I've been taking aleve too. I'm fairly certain it's the tbars. I did deadlift, shrugs, cable rows and tbars that day. I doubt it's the deadlifts or shrugs, and cable rows have always felt solid. Tbars I just started like 6 weeks ago and I think I went too heavy too fast.

Today is shoulder/bicep day. Going to take the warm ups real slow to see if anything hurts my elbow.

I can feel my gains seeping out of me as I lay here in the hospital :( over the next 12 weeks my legs will be able to fit in skinny jeans again lol. My only hope is that I'll be able to do upper body in about a month and get hella swole.

Just do Chuck Taylors. Get them at Walmart for cheap.

Just finished shoulders. Elbow felt tender after presses, so I moved the other weight down. It feels worse post workout then it did during. Gonna buy some fish oil, ice it, compress it and take a couple days off see how it feels.

Ugh, did a bad squat rep. Felt a twinge, but it could have gone a lot worse.
I agree with the other poster saying that there are so many things you need to do right or else risk disaster.

Need to review some more squat videos, you got any female ones CrankyJay?

Apparently he did it when he was younger, before he was a Youtube celeb. Meh. Live and learn.

Yeah whatever, everyone has some weird shit from their past. I find it kinda entertaining that all these YouTube comments are freaking out over any tie with homosexuality... meanwhile the channel they watch is all about watching a man get swole and appear shirtless and discussing his physique in intense detail. The internet is weird.

At first, I thought people were upset he said so homophobic slurs, but I guess it's just this gay yahoo group he had. I didn't really look into it much.

Didn't know Feb 2011 was that far in the past lol.

And of course, anyone can do anything they want with their life, but after watching the videos are you going to tell me that that shit isn't fucked up and disturbing? Having "slaves" and getting them to pay for your Amazon wishlist and a whole bunch of other stuff?
