Went to grab more chalk at my local fitness place and talked to the owner who's a competitive lifter. He was telling me his raw numbers, something like 650 squat, 700 dead and 415 bench. Dude was huge and 42yrs old. Really awesome guy.

Opinions on Elliot Hulse?
I like him but some of his answers to questions are full of shit.

He isn't providing misinformation but he isn't really giving any. He's the master of talking without making a point. Lots of synergy type stuff.

That being said, I love his workout advice/opinions. Just the general life stuff I find questionable.

Do you have any examples? I haven't seen too much but he does seem to give better advice than most youtube channels these days (cough hodge cough)

cool.

this reminded me, my friend just bought Papaya enzymes in GNC, don't quote me on this but apparently they help the body asimilate nutrients faster... or something like that... I hate papaya anyway, lol

for myself, I bought this, first time trying it, tastes good and wasn't that expensive so I thought it might be worth a try. Here goes one month trial with it.

I wish I could get proteins through a saline drip.
I'm not really used to eating this much food.

Does it get easier?
It's especially hard when I'm doing cheatmode and need to get down 1,2k calories in one meal.

Sounds like bro science. Also never shop in GNC unless theres a major sale or its stuff is on clearance. Everything is overpriced and the employees will try and sell you so much needless shit per they way there job works.

Lastly is there any way to verify those salmon tablets are actually from wild fish? I uses to work in a meat departnent and often times sustainable wild basically meant farm raised.

what are your goals regarding your weight? meaning, how much do you weight now and how much would you like to put up?

this isn't the first time I see guys struggling to eat and I am wondering how come this happens.

am I the only one who could eat a complete cow after a gym session? eating a lot hasn't been a problem because of this, in fact, every 4 hours I could eat a decent meal. I do when I can.

lol this is all true but had a discount over a discount so I bought it. The guy at the counter wears this nice white doctor coat but has no idea, hehe

I weigh approximately 163ish lbs/73kg, so I'm not a skinny guy by all means. I used to be fat as a kid, and while I've been at a normal weight since my teenage years I think I could lose up to 5 kg (16% bodyfat atm). I'm aiming for an addition 10-20lbs of muscle mass over the 12 weeks I'll be doing Westside. I'm in at week 2 now, and have (I think) seen some noticeable gains, but I'm not really feeling that hunger you're speaking off.

I'm in Hawaii at the moment and had my second session here.. $15 per workout is pretty pricey. There's only one squat rack and one smith machine. Some super skinny Asian girl spent 50 mins on the squat rack trying to squat just the bar. She was constantly playing on the phone and waved anyone away who went over to ask how long she had left. Someone had to get a staff member to ask her to move on.

Just a heads up, you won't gain 10-20 pounds of muscle in 12 weeks. It doesn't happen that fast; expect 5 pounds if you're a novice, which is still a big difference in how you look and feel and what you're capable of.

I think to exacerbate matters, he's a vegetarian...he has a very steep uphill climb.

I believe it's Anytime 24 in Waikiki, down near Dukes.

Some of the Hawaiin girls are cute although alot seem to love the attention.. Too many tatts and always in a bikini.

Man, if I were you I'd get a Hawaiian plate after a heavy workout at the Rainbow Drive In...the locals kinda stare you down but it's all good.

Yep, but I'm getting all the proteins and carbs I need.
Am hitting a daily 1.5g/bodyweight in lbs now.
45% protein/30% carb/30% fat or something macro nutrient ratio wise.

Just being optimistic :p

Yeah, over time you will adjust to eating more. People think he weights are hard, getting enough food can be really tough.

WTF happened? I thought the whole bro science thing of eating at certain times and certain amount of meals was BS. But looking at Squiddy's post it seems to have taken off again. Has there been new scientific evidence to prove this stuff as true?

Oh, no, no, it's nothing like that.
I need to get that much in a given meal, because it's dinner time by the time it's time for me to eat according to cheatmode.
I can't eat too late, because I need to get fasting.

So this stuff has been proven? Like needing BCAAs for losing weight, 16 hours of fasting, working out at certain times.

That Cheat Mode sheet seems so weird to me. How close are you following it? It says give or take an hour or 2 to fit your schedule, but given how damn rigid and precise the times are for everything, if you alter your meals by a couple hours from what they give you you are no longer following "Cheat Mode" lol.

Just lift heavy, follow your caloric/macro goals for the day, and get sleep.

I'm all for people trying new things though. Keep us updated on how it works out for you.

I tried IF for like two weeks. It really wasn't for me. My work schedule is waaaay to inconsistent so that throws my workout times around.

Something like this.

He makes a few good points but generally he uses too many words that don't really add anything. "Forget about the opinions of others". That's the only real answer he gives in the 6 minute video.

Ah, I didn't even know he had a personal channel for that stuff. I'd probably just stick to strengthcamp. Whenever youtube dudes have personal channels it's a free for all, so I tend to avoid those.

Thanks for the pro-tip Veezy. Have any idea of what the threshold for a protein bump would be? Right now I'm consuming around 2500 cals a day, and 220 grams of protein. I assume the protein intake is a tad higher than what I need, but I figured better safe than sorry.

If you're at maintenance or on a surplus, .7-1g of protein per lb of body weight works optimally. Don't worry about your kidneys, they'll be fine (unless you already have a kidney problem, and if so see a doc).

I've read through the article and some other data surrounding protein consumption and that amount seems to be pretty top. A good rule of thumb is if you're having a problem progressing in your training, REGARDLESS OF GOAL, upping your protein intake will do a lot to fix the problem. Just make sure you up the protein along with an all around calorie increase. For example, collegiate athletes generally eat 3500-4000 calories a day and they stick to the .7-1g rule and are successful.

10-20 lbs in 12 weeks is definitely not out of the question for a newb though given that they're eating and lifting enough.

Doing p90x since 3 three weeks now.

172cm in height, 68.7kg weight.

I am eating about 1300-1400kcal everyday at the moment like this:

protein bread with chicken in the morning and some cheese
a few black coffee

a bigger meal with salat, chicken/tuna (about 200g) and one hour later an apple

after work I do my p90x training and drink chocolate milk.

After that I will have a last dinner with some eggs, chicken or fish or something like that but nothing heavy.

I already see that my little belly that I got from alcohol consume (and eating junk food in mass...) is already going back and I am getting stronger every day.

Am I doing alright? First four weeks of p90x are low carb so I guess I am doing everything right and I have to say that not eating junk food is easier than I thought. That's also the first time in a few years that I try to get 8 hours sleep everyday

Any opinions or advices? First of all I wanted to get my belly away and be a little bit fitter and stronger, but I guess I wont bulk up too much if I don't eat more?

I've gained maybe 3 pounds in three months of lifting and eating 3000 calories a day. From 157(ish)(usually) to about 160-161. All my lifts have skyrocketed though.

^ From what I've heard P90 is fine for losing weight(which seems to be your goal).

I took a 3 hour hike up Red Rock, here in Vegas yesterday in lieu of a leg workout. Me and my buddy made it up to the top and when it was all he persistently asked me whether or not I was sore or not(I wasn't). He was super beat. I keep tellin his ass to stop neglecting his legs, that shit was cake walk. The hardest part of it was climbing down since I stupidly wore chucks, so I had no traction and had to do everything extra safe.

Double your calorific intake, make 30-40% of your calories come from protein (follow the guideline of 1-1.5 grams of protein per lbs body weight).

15 pounds of pure muscle in 3 months... may be possible but I'd need to see the receipts *whitneyhouston.gif to believe that.

that's 7 kilograms of pure muscle... damn, I've never seen anyone in my circle of friends pull that off.

Most would be happy to reach 12 kilograms, (26 lbs) over 6 or 7 years...

I'm sorry but there's some shit posted on this that isn't backed by any legitimate scientific fact whatsoever.

I can just imagine a bunch of dudebros plugging away typing on power point salivating while about to press "submit" on bb.com forums.

Well, we shall see how my little exercise regime goes :p

Just going to focus on lifting heavy three times a week, eating at least 1.5g of protein per lbs, 2,500-3,000 calories a day, and sleep a good 9-10 hours a night.
