I love neogaf but I'm a little tired of it when it gets to be a few pages full of "let's [excessively] make fun of someone," just feels really juvenile. You didn't like their game (how many here even played it? Not me either) Yeah it made headlines for crashing & burning spectacularly, but still that's not necessarily going to have anything to do with how this person looks or relates to themselves. I know it is a bit of a mob mentality and once the ball gets rolling, it becomes difficult to resist "having a bit of fun & piling on," but imagine that you are someone in the industry who worked on a very high profile game for awhile, and it blew up in your face - badly - and now you are just looking for work. And a (sizeable) subset of the people who you worked late hours making this game for, have little better to do than just make fun of your dumb linkedIn page.

Yeah, the person is kind of asking for it a little with the "down to clown" stuff, and to be honest it is a bit difficult for me to not run with the joke myself and put a "#downtoclown" image overlay in my own linkedin profile because it looks fucking stupid (as does the general "#opentowork" one), but still.

For some context “down to clown” is some sex slang used mainly by nonbinary zoomers.
Down to clown. In the brown.

While you have a point, this particular individual is largely implicated in the toxic positivity of the studio and refusing to listen to her SMEs and sub ordinates.

Both Sony games, quite different fates:

Shift Up employee: Free PS5 Pro + 5 million won.

Firewalk employee: hit me up, down to clown.

Not gonna berate he personally, but I am so sick of people looking for jobs in this way. LinkedIn has long lost its professional position and this lack of standards in communication is so very sad. At least it's mostly confined to entertaining sector and US/UK workers. You have people now trying to be trendy by doing getting ready with me videos talking about their job. On LinkedIn. Only time before it turns into only fans.

That phrasing is very trendy, hip with the in crowd.

Do folk in the gaming industry talk like that

Hmu with your answers

Well I thought that was the whole argument against cancel culture is that even your worst enemy deserves access to a job and basics of the financial system.
Access to a job, yes. Just not in videogames. Especially in a high position where she can cause enough damage to cause everyone else to lose their jobs.

On the bright side, she will serve as a perfect probe. Any games from her future employer will be an instant no for me to avoid, provided if there was indeed a company ignorant enough to hire her.

Edit: wrong pronouns! They/them/their! I need to pull barves!
This is a human being you are talking about. Are you so indecent of one yourself that you have to barf out such hatred?

This thread is pretty fucking disgusting. It is basically lets find someone who is struggling and laugh at them out of hatred.

Sociopaths are human beings too. This person is a despotic cunt who fired people because of personal reasons. She isn't fit for any managerial position. She might land a technical job, but never be in charge of people.

Your virtue signaling is ignorant and hypocritical at the very least.

Fair point.

But the person does no favours acting weird, being part of a giant failure as well as articles saying she's toxic to work with (to begin with forcing people to call her prof is mental case).

So people like to make fun. When people do I think there is also an inherent view that considering what was at stake (big money and the possibility of a good game) it was a waste of everyone's time. So might as have fun ragging on the entire situation. Nobody is going to care about a $5 indie game someone made based on Solitaire failing. That's just a honest project from a person (or small studio) trying to sell a game. Nobody is going to know who they are, and even if the devs promote themselves they arent going to act like a jackass asking people to call them Sir or Emperor.

The gaming internet typically makes fun of bad games and weird people. Nobody makes fun of a really good game, or the accounts payable clerk or sales analyst. There's nothing wrong with the game and those those people who arent in the spotlight asking for attention or causing trouble at work wouldnt get the laughs from gamers. There's nothing funny to discuss about those people or jobs as they are normal people with no attitude.
