Feel sorry for Drogba, that malaria he had seems to have taken 2 years off his career. Just hasn't been the same since returning from it.
Who was going 'wa wa wa' (?) when the fitness coach missed his first shot?KidA Seven said:Chicharito in the Manchester United Facebook Goal challenge (vid).

I agree with most you're saying (except Sturridge). Note that Falcao is actually cheap: 26M£ for a guy that smashed the European competitions scoring record (17 goals in 14 games during the 201011 UEFA Europa League, surpassing Jürgen Klinsmann's previous record of 15 goals).Moobabe said:I was talking more broadly about attacking options - if we stuck with the 4-3-3 formation those are the players who would be competing for those 3 positions.
I wouldn't say rely on Lukaku or De Bruyne - but they're still excellent options.
I think Malouda should go - Kalou is good as backup but not good enough for the first 11.
I'd keep Drogba but he'd have to be committed enough to appreciate his position on the bench.
Sturridge - well I disagree - I think he has the potential to become a top player for the side, but he needs an extended run of games to develop.
And I would never defend any signing that's over 40 million - I don't know what he was thinking.

Stories here seem to suggest nothing is done yet and Chelsea haven't yet met the release clause.RaGe_pt said:What are english newspapers saying about Villas Boas and Chelsea? Here in Portugal everyone confirms that he is going to Chelsea, I'm so fucking sad and disapointed... If it's true that he's going to Stamford bridge, money seriously talks!

£13 million is pretty much a transfer fee - it'll be interesting to see what Chelsea's FFP figures look like...

Metalmurphy said:Porto just made an official statement that no final offer has been made. Typical Portuguese sports news as usual. This might end up being nothing, and lets not forget even if they do end up paying the 15M, that's just the "permission" from Porto, Villas Boas still has the final say.

RaGe_pt said:I know but the way people are talking here (FC Porto forums and other sources of information) I think this is serious and it's just a matter of time until everyone confirms the deal... I still hope he says no to Chelsea but like I said, money talks...
PS: You're a Porto fan too right?
Metalmurphy said:Yes, I am. Apparently they're offering him 5M per season as salary. That's like x5 more then now o0
Hard to say no to that.
DAMN YOU Abramovich!!

Pretty much my thoughts on this too - would love Guus because the way he turned us around post-Scolari was simply incredible, you could tell the players all thought very fondly of him too.Kylehimself said:Guus or Villas-Boas, I would take either. But if Villas-Boas comes that would be amazing.

But Villas-Boas is the future, he's young and is probably just what we're after. I also worry that Guus is the sort of manager that enjoys going to a club briefly and taking them, completely shaking them up and turning around their fortunes massively and then leaving again, just as he did with Chelsea, and he's done with many international teams too.

FIFA continues to be a joke. So much for Blatter's promise to crack down on corruption.

Regulus Tera said:Because then they would just "unaffiliate" that law enforcement's national federation.
It can be. The International Olympic Committee was investigated by the US Justice Department after that corruption scandal in the '90s involving Salt Lake city. But it'd have to be a concerted effort from the major governments because FIFA plays hardball when a government tries to intervene with the national football association. FIFA sees the National FAs as separate from the government and will ban any particular one if its host country's government gets involved. Citizens of the country don't much care that the government was trying to stamp our cronyism and corruption if it means their team can't take part in any international football tournaments (especially when the government officials are often themselves already corrupt). FIFA also demands certain 'concessions' from host countries which are awarded the rights to host tournaments, like exception from taxes and lawsuits etc. FIFA is essentially a private business and Switzerland is very friendly to such corporations.PaulLFC said:Why can't FIFA be investigated by proper law enforcement? I know they spout stuff about having an "ethics committee" etc but surely that doesn't mean they're above the law, even if they think they are? Admittedly I'm far from being a lawyer so I don't know, just think it's insane that nothing's been done about this by someone outside of FIFA.

I'm still hoping it's BS. Even cirvfm is talking about here in Toronto.Metalmurphy said:With no sources what so ever.
