Daily Mirror is one of the worst Newspaper I ever read. I hope thier report of us Getting Wes Brown is false. If true, then I have to question the brain of Moyes. I mean, he isn't exactly consistently good defenders and we have way too many CB.

The Mirror is terrible. They were the ONLY paper in the country to run the 'Gyan being touted around via email' story then when he comes out today and says he has no intention of leaving this summer, they refer to their own story like this:

"Ghana international Gyan has been the subject of reported interest from Stoke and Tottenham in recent weeks while one English newspaper suggested he had been made available for transfer - a claim swiftly knocked back by Black Cats chairman Niall Quinn."

Got to laugh.

Possibly Lassana Diarra?

Was about to post Lass myself. He wants first team soccer and United's lacking midfield surely provides that. Always liked him too.

WTF is wrong with Barca? Are they really this classless? I thought Real Madrid was the worst but after that one season of wooing Ronaldo, they cut straight to the chase the next June, faxed in that offer, and everybody was happy. This is pursuing of Fabregas through the media for the second summer in a row is unbecoming of an institution that is supposed to be "more than a club".

Barcelona have been doing this for years. Whilst everyone is getting wet and sticky over the football they play they are busy unsettling their targets for the next season. It's been happening with Fabregas and it happened with Mascherano - We had Lionel Messi come out and ask Liverpool to be humane and allow Javier to leave.

Confirmation that the English FA have been mandated by the other home nation FAs to run the GB team for the 2012 Olympics (Managers, Squad, Players etc). That said the other FAs still don't want any of their players playing.

My understanding is that they will select who they want in the team, will contact them, and then it's up to the player if they take part or not. They hope doing it this way will avoid the conflict by the other FAs not wanting any of their players taking part.

Isn't it going to be the England team with Gareth Bale anyway?

Make of it what you will, I'm just curious to see who we're being linked with now - http://twitter.com/#!/TransferUpdate/status/83173855652356097

And it's past 5pm in local Spanish time--any reliability to that source?

I mean, unless there's an embargo to break, why time-stagger the release of information? I'll just assume it's the usual twitter rubbish.

More than likely is rubbish, but I do enjoy a good rumour.

fuck's sake chelsea, you've left us with Guus Hiddink.

haha maybe he'll actually put in some effort now that he can't bail out.

I feel sorry for Portfo fans. Pretty sure it was our fault that Chelsea went running to Villas Boas instead :p

Look it him on the side there.

Just fits the bill.

"The name I'm hearing now is Steven Defour. Manchester United will launch a £25m bid for him by tomorrow. #MUFC"

Not unfeasible. Fergie's been keeping tabs on Defour for a long time - wrote him a note of encouragement when he was injured a season or so back - and he signed a contract extension this year, so the fee wouldn't be all that ridiculous. Would be a neat piece of business in a world where Henderson goes for £20m. We'll see, though. Could easily be the product of rubbish speculation.

I'm just devastated at the AVB's departure confirmation. Still can't believe he would do this to us now instead of in a year or two, I don't care if it's a good move for his career or wallet, it's a really shit thing to do after mentioning so many times that it's club that owns his heart and I just can't shake this awful feeling of betrayal. Please oh please be forced to come to porto next season for a champions league game, if you really love this club, a full dragao booing and cursing you will really make you understand how much you fucked up.

Yeah was just gonna say about that get well letter

Wouldn't be a bad signing if the interest is indeed real.

I still have to wonder if that is alright to put down in a paper. I mean you are bloody confirming a misleading news as a news and go with it. Its more laughable when they write down pages upon pages of how they have predicted this and that earlier this year and it happend. Of course morans, wehn you post shitty news all the time, one of those shitty news might strike a gold. Bloody bastards.

Too bad thats the only paper I read since my flat mate buy it all the time. At least, I don't pay for it.

A cursory search turned up some rumours that Spartak Moscow and some Serie A teams are interested in moving for him this summer. Could be another Phil Jones situation where Fergie feels like he has to nip the chance of losing a long-term target in the bud and get him now. No reason to be anything but skeptical, although the FM gamer in me wouldn't mind at all.

Where a rejuvenated Fernando Torres bags a brace and sends you all home feeling even worse. It's sods law I'm afraid.

25m for Defour seems over the top especially considering figures for him in the past have been half that. Think people need to get over the Henderson fee a little - Sure we paid well over the odds but I seriously doubt it's going to effect prices of other players. Nor should it be used to justify paying over the odds for other players.

Under contract until 2016 apparently too which could be part of that rumoured price

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Defour-snubs-possible-Manchester-United.html

I'd hope we could tempt him over Spartak. Price still seems high though, wasn't it usually 12-15m in the past for him according to some reports?

Varane is close to signing for Real Madrid according to L'Equipe.

Signing can be closed for around 10 ME and defender is expected to announce his future on Tuesday.

don't watch french league, is he any good?

I edited the post, it would not be about beating his new team, but about making him cry himself to sleep that night.

We bid £9m for Varane as well. haven't seen enough of him to make any judgement.

Bayern were also interested, which does indicate he is a very promising player.

Sadly one of the joys that comes with supporting a team in a league not considered to be one of the biggest around Europe. Must be shit that every time your team gets success the supposed bigger clubs start unsettling the team and staff.

All hail our old and new master!

I'm actually happy with this. Not as much as if Villas Boas stayed...

Press conference set to 18:00 GMT+1 to make it all official.

That's not to bad at all. Wish we would just make Villas-Boas official now.

Well, even before the Press Conference, it's already official.

It's been announced to the Commission of the Securities Markets or whatever it's called in english.

2 year contract

Very easy to understand the frustration of Porto fans, if he stayed there for a while he could have made Porto one of the big clubs in Europe and dragged the quality of the league up.

Força Vitor! I'm sure he'll keep the team motivated and keep the same style of play! Another time, our god Jorge Nuno de Lima Pinto da Costa solved the problem quick and well!

Vitor Pereira eh? Actually, that's a pretty nice decision by PdC, it does makes this whole thing a little less painful. We don't need clueless outsiders right now.

25 mils is way too high for a player of such injury history.
