I don't understand at all wtf Valdes was trying to do.... He must have forgot he was a keeper or some shit.....Could have totally used his hands instead of a knee to the face.... Probably still get flack if he punched the dude in the face but its a little bit more in the realm of the game.

not making excuses, I was amazed he didnt get the straight red, it was a scumbag move but he was outside the box so no hands. he has done diving headers for balls like that before so he could have done that.

SSN reporting Man City are close to signing Nasri for £20m. No details of any sources but I'm pretty sure this story was in the papers this morning.

Would not surprise me.
Seems pretty clear that he could be leaving. Not sure they'd push a contract negotiation this far just for more money.

Still are Arsenal even gonna have 11 players next season!? Selling to City (or any direct rivals) is never wise...

Arsenal FC are having a fire sale. Clichy reportedly close to signing for Man City, with Nasri likely to follow him. I hope to see the fans make their feelings clear on this by leaving the stadium half empty on the opening game. We were meant to sign new players, not sell our best ones. Wenger won't survive the season at this rate

How close are City to signing Clichy? Because Fox is reporting that they're also in for Baines now too at £20(!) WTF is Mancini's end game here?

Get some decent left backs? Kolarov can't defend and Zabaleta is a right sided player. I honestly think we at Spurs have one of the best in the league in Benoit Assou-Ekotto, before he got injured he had the most interceptions in the PL and is just behind Modric in the touches and passing stats.

It looks like Fabregas is leaving and selling two of their first eleven to City is a very poor move, virtually secures City's position in the top three at the expense of Arsenal.

It is such a decline from the side the Arsenal side that went unbeaten or the side that secured the premiership at OT.

The problem isn't so much as selling them but rather not having anyone to replace them which baffles me. What message is this sending out to the rest of the squad? If the season doesn't go well, you can be certain that others will be reconsidering their futures because evidently contracts do not matter to either player or club. It's like a Spurs fan has taken control over the club for the summer

I still say the loss of Nasri is minimal and I don't like Clichy. So I don't care if either go but if we lose Fabregas I doubt I will be watching too many Arsenal games this season....

And no replacements lined up is shocking. Arsenal just take forever to complete deals... sign fucking Cahill already damnit.

David Gill slates FA colleagues for Manchester United victimisation

Why is Gill even on the FA board? Conflict of interest right there.

FA board of directors:

Dave Henson
Michael Game (Essex FA)
Phil Gartside (Bolton Wanderers Chairman)
David Gill (Manchester United Chief Executive)
Roger Burden (Gloucestershire FA)
Sir Dave Richards (Premier League Chairman)
John Ward (Hampshire FA)
David Sheepshanks (Ipswich Town Non-Executive Director)
Neil Doncaster (Scottish Football League Chief Executive)

He is on the board as one of the Premier League reps.

I don't think anyone who's involved with a club (Gill, Gartside, Sheepshanks) should be on the FA board. Either that, or they have a member from each club, and that just wouldn't be practical.

He was elected by the other PL club Chief-Execs and replaced David Dein who had previously been elected.

Or, it's a conspiracy.

I don't know enough about the process and what his exact roles and duties are. I don't think United have ever had any advantages because of it but just generally, judging by the FA and their absolute lack of ability to do anything well...something is probably wrong somewhere along the line.

I can see your point, I was struggling to see the need for four premier league reps when Richards is already on the board. But I don't know the specific role of what Gill, Gartside and Sheepshanks and how much they are actually needed to sit on the board.

You are underestimating Pastore, underestimating Sanchez, underestimating Serie A, and most of all underestimating the showman that is Maurizio Zamparini.
Yes. Yes. Yes. No. Zamparini is a crackhead of epic proportions. If some of the rules that apply on the field applied off-field as well, Zamparini would've been booked red all the time.

The other day he said that Napoli was ten THOUSAND times better than A.C. Milan.

“I don’t think Milan will pay out for Hamsik, as they don’t have much money. Besides, Naples is 10,000 times better than Milano, both in terms of the cities and the clubs.”

“Pastore to Milan? Berlusconi doesn’t have a lot of money. He, instead, likes the beautiful girls more than calcio players.”

Not to forget his Mutu gypsy remarks

“When I spoke about Adrian Mutu, describing him as a “crafty little gypsy,” I did not mean to offend him,” Zamparini said. “On the contrary, I was simply justifying his behaviour, remembering that he comes from post-communist Romania. What Mutu did was an instinct that comes with his nationality.

“Say for example, Diego Maradona had been born in Oxford (England) instead of the Argentine suburbs, he would never have scored the ‘Hand of God’ goal at the (1986) World Cup.

“Craftiness is a Romanian characteristic, they have it in their DNA. They developed it as part of their survival instinct.”

or how he said that Delio Rossi destroyed palermo, fired him and then hired him again 6 weeks later.

I imagine it won't be long until we hear the "That's bad business for City. Not good value. We have Morrison anyway."

If it's true Arsenal are selling these guys...their fans may aswell just look at the positives. The team has won nothing for 6 years. Get the money. Spend it well. An opportunity.

No it's alot simpler than that. Nasri's just shit. (Unless we get him, then he's awesome). Henderson was bad business =)

If they do indeed sell Nasri and Cesc then I'm backing Mata to Arsenal will be done pretty quickly.

Unless City get involved.

Assuming Arsenal want to break the habit of a lifetime and actually spend money.

I don't know, I just get the feeling that this exodus of players and Arsenal's form over last season will be heavily considered by any potential incoming parties.

Then again, we signed Suarez after our abysmal first half of last season, so I suppose miracles can happen.

I agree, I think if Nasri leaves the reason will be as much to do with winning things as money...but it's still a big club, which can pay well, has a great stadium, and has European football...for now, they'll have to break out of the mould and change a few things up and the window to do that won't be long with other clubs spending. It could be a really pivotal moment for Arsenal and Wenger over the next 12 months.

1 year ago: "Henderson will be a great player. Fergie's sniffing around. Would be a good deal"
Now: "OMG How much did you pay for him? He's shit! lololol

This also works with Liverpool fans and Ashley Young

Whilst the general sentiment of this post is true...I really don't think United fans ever thought Henderson was a great prospect. He's obv. gonna score against us now though.

So Nasri to City surely means Milner is out, no? I liked his signing last summer, but boy did he look poor for most of the season.

Those Villa rumors are probably true.

Gardner has signed... 3 year contract which is odd. Usually 4 when there's a fee involved...

Another good signing imo, we desperately need goals from midfield; Sess, Gardner and hopefully N'Zog (I don't buy the Northern Echo's story of us 'giving up' on him) should put paid to that. Larsson can chip in with a few too.

Now hopefully O'Shea, Brown and Gibson come.

Don't forget about N'gog.

The bolder part is my favourite.

Man utd sign Pierluigi Gollini, another keeper u-17. don't know why we keep buying keepers and defenders. Also, Evra thinks we're going to win the champions league next season with the new signings coming into the squad.
“I think they are great signings,” said Evra. “We will give them all a nice welcome. I think they’ll be important and I’m very confident about the future. After we lost the Champions League final I said that we had lost just a game. But I’m confident about the future, especially with our great new signings, and I think we are going to win it next year. We hope to retain the title but also to win the Champions League.”

Don't think he realises that our mid-field sucks :(

Just part of three players we got from Fiorentina's academy.

One player that I think it's very underrated is Nilmar from Villareal. I would be be happy to see him at Arsenal and/or in the brazilian national team. :(

City are more likely to land Nasri

- they can offer more cash.
- they can offer the player more wages.
- they may to Arsenal take your pick out of Bridge, Adebayor (LOL), Santa Cruz, Onouha or more likely in my eyes Shaun Wright-Philips.

I reckon that's a pretty decent team. Larsson and Gardner are good players IMO. Sessengon looks like a player, and if Sunderland get N'Zogbia they will have done very well. Add Wickham to that, if he's as good as the hype suggests...he'll be a good partner for Gyan who I rate.

If you could get some decent defenders you'd have a good team more than capable of staying up.

Players being included in transfers hardly ever happen any more. It's just adds unnecessary complications to a deal.

As is often mentioned, Arsenal will laugh at the mere thought of paying any of these player's wages. All of them will be on bigger money than Arsenal's best players.
