I actually dislike foster the people but mostly because I think pumped up kicks is trash. I'm sure they aren't bad
that song was played way too much and I just cant get into them now. Although, The track Mark Foster/Kimbra/A-Trak put together for Converse, "Warrior", is really nice.

Do any of you have Spotify Premium? Do I need to sync it with my phone for me to be able to listen to my favourites/playlists when I'm on the go? Or can I just access that stuff on the app when I'm out and stream it?

Pumped up kicks (along with two other great songs, we are young, somebody I used to know) is a really catchy song, but the radio has ruined them for me. off the fifa 12 soundtrack, I really liked colours, and that got me into grouplove. always a fan of glasvegas (Chuck actually introduced them to me haha; I'm sure salvadora knows what I'm talking about), ting tings, the strokes.

also, in the states, I've just been using this six month trial for at least... almost a year now, but it's connected to my facebook account. does this thing ever run out?

I'm addicted to tongue tied. Need to listen to more grouplove as well. Also need to listen to more Portugal the Man. Awesome country, awesome band

On free you get 2.5 hours of allowance per week. If you use say, 1 hour, then the extra 1.5 hours will be topped up onto your 2.5 weekly allowance up until 10 hours.

Somebody like me probably listens to at least an hour of music per day though, so it's not enough, but for many people it does the job.

Man 'Tongue Tied' rocks.

I like 'Call It What You Want' by Foster The People. Ooo-ooo-ooo, we got nothing to prove.

ah, makes sense. sounds like I'll have to start shelling out for premium then, I've been using spotify religiously since it arrived... it'll be nice to have it accessible on my phone too. is the android app any good?

This limit definitely doesn't exist in the states. Do you guys not have ads. I listen to music for at least 2-5 hours a day. Whenever I'm in my room, usually have Spotify running on my second screen.

This is what the site says.

How much music can I play with Spotify Free?
When you create your Spotify account, for the first six months, you will have unlimited streaming with Spotify Free. After these first six months some limitations apply.

How much music you can stream
Starting with 10 hours, your account will then receive a 2.5 hour streaming allocation each week. Any time that you do not use in that week is saved up. Your streaming time can be saved up in this way to a total of 10 hours.

Streaming time is added to your account each week, on the same day of the week that you created your Spotify account, and at approximately the same time of day.

There is also a limitation for each individual track*. You will be able to stream each track 5 times in total. The track play count is not reset each week.

* If the same recording is available on another album you will be able to stream that track 5 times as well.

Tell me that again when you've got shitty weather for 9/10 of the year.

Shitty weather as in cold all the time? Or rainy days?

I think cold weather is the best, it's better to go outside your home because you can dress up nicely, it's better when you sleep (after your bed is warm), etc etc. And you don't sweat like a pig.

the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford is one of the best films of the decade; casey affleck is IMMENSE, and brad pitt aint too bad either. casey is absolutely fantastic in gone baby gone as well.

The Shining, The Godfather, The Assassination Of Jesse James, Once Upon A Time In The West, 12 Angry Men, The King Of Comedy, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, No Direction Home, Seven Samurai, Singing In The Rain

Is this movie really that good? I saw another user saying it was the best film of the decade just yesterday. I gotta watch it now.

yeah, I've done some digging, and it turns out that spotify never turned on the limit in the US for free users when the first six months ran out in march - though I wouldn't be surprised if they've turned up the ads a notch or two instead; they're fucking incessant.

“This particular [five plays per song] limit did more harm than good in terms of generating subscribers to Spotify Premium and was detrimental to the effort to fight piracy,” Spotify chief content officer Ken Parks told Evolver.fm on Thursday. “This was all data-driven, and I think what it shows is the confidence that our content partners have in our model and our ability to monetize users and convert them from piracy.”

Parks wouldn’t rule out imposing limits on Spotify’s free, unlimited U.S. version in the future, but added, ”We certainly hope that we never have to impose limits like that again.”

YES. It is incredible. really slow burn, but great performances and some of the most beautiful cinematography and soundtrack of the decade. I will say that it is an aquired taste because it is not the revisionist-type western; very existential, long build up of tension, no shootouts or anything.
was it solo?

So back to football lol.

More rumours United are after Baines. I don't think there's anything in it but I wouldn't be against it. I don't think Baines is incredible or anything, but he is a good player and he's much better than Evra. Takes a mean free kick too.

Looks like Anzhi(sp?) want to offer 10 million for Izmailov and Lyon want Andre Santos. I would be down with selling Andre Santos. He's a good player but we have Schaars, Carrico, and Elias who can fit our DM spot better. Though losing Izmailov would be rough. We'd definitely need another creative midfielder to compliment Capel. I also think we should send Rubio out on loan and either pick up a new striker or bring one up from the youth team. I remember when Liedson and Derlei led our attacking front. Now that was a force to be reckoned with. Now we mainly rely on midfield to score due to how inconsistent our forwards are.

We'd lose the attacking ability of Evra but gain some solidity at the back. I think I'd be ok with that. Evra is good at beating a player and getting into attacking positions but he very rarely does anything with his delivery. His crossing isn't great and he can't shoot either.

If we do get Baines then I suppose Evra will be relegated to the bench. He's had 4 brilliant years at United. We won't mention his last 2 years though.

FIFA 12 guys

Hahaha, me and my friend just burst into that song at random. It's great.

I don't think we'd lose that much in attack because as you say, whilst Evra gets into great positions, he's just doesn't have any real quality in the final third. Baines gets forward well and crosses the ball well. He can't beat men like Evra does but he's still a decent attacking option and obv. a better defender.

Anyway it won't happen cos we're not signing anybody and finishing 10th next season.

Edit - Lucas Moura just tweeted in English about English lessons he is taking. WE'LL SIGN HIM FOR...8 million?

Missed the finale yesterday, which I am happy for I guess considering the outcome. Copenhagen cup finale today, hopefully we will win but honestly don't care too much about it, just want us to focus on the league and play a reserve team.

Just FYI for the ones that do remember me. Bish changed my username from TheAzRim to Az today, by my request.

As long as you don't change that avatar.

So, question to the knowledgeable PC gamers. Would Diablo III run somewhat alright on an intel i3 2.3ghz laptop with 4 gb RAM and an Nvidia GT 325m graphics card? I want to play the game really bad but I don't want to fuck up the experience with lag :/

I assume the M on the graphics card means it's a laptop? Blizzard games tend to run on most computers. Even my laptop could run starcraft at 40-60fps if I turned everything down. It just won't look great.

Footy-GAF you have some great taste in music. Saw Passion Pit live last year and it was like a religious experience. What do you guys think of the new single Take A Walk?

Naked and Famous, Neon Indian and Bloc Party are all great like you said. Hoping to see M83 at the end of the summer.

I like Take a Walk. It seems like it was produced to be a single. Very structured, but I do like it.

I'm so happy to see all the similar music taste within the thread!

Yeah it means its a dedicated card for laptops.

Good to hear, though. I don't mind running it on low settings if I can get away with 60+ FPS.

The Foster the People album is amazing. Arguably the AOTY for 2011. Also highly recommend Friendly Fires' Pala which I'm confident many of you will enjoy. Fantastic album from top to bottom.

I personally have a paid sub to rdio rather than Spotify since for $5 a month I get no ads/unlimited web-based streaming (doesn't require an application which 99/100 jobs won't allow you to install). I listen all day at work on my work PC. Has essentially everything Spotify does as well.

My laptop is at least a generation behind yours and runs D3 just fine.

I just watched, and got a few good photos of my favorite team (MLS! lol) just win 2-1 over Schalke 04 in a friendly :)

I know both teams didnt go hard each other but it was a great game, figured I'd share two good photos I snapped.

Huntelaar got smashed by our keeper, had to leave the game.

Yeah, it's really good. I'm not sure if it's the best film of the decade but it is certainly worth watching

To bring it back to music, the soundtrack is done by Nick Cave (who has a small cameo in the film) and Warren Ellis.

Girls' "Father, Son, Holy Ghost" is probably my favorite album from 2011. Second would be Destroyer's "Kaputt." Foster the People wouldn't even factor into my top 20 for last year.

Very cool. Were they super good seats or did you have zoom on?

Kaputt is fantastic, as is most of their discography. I want to see Destroyer this summer but none of my friends can stand Bejar's voice.

I think my album of 2011 is Apocalypse by Bill Callahan. I don't quite keep up with new music as passionately as I used to though; I tend to prefer diving into band's discographies, checking everything out then moving on.

and my room mate is blaring this

I sit behind the goal every match.
Lense + 4th row :) Little closer tonight with the rain, we all crowded the drums.
I'll actually be in the seat I sat in tonight for the MLS Allstars vs. Chelsea this summer.

Ive only missed one game in 2 years, well 2 if you count not going to see Real Madrid vs. Philly. Soccer is pretty big in my house so naturally we follow and support our local team. Ive actually got my son on the field during the game last year vs. Everton, and again tonight.
How many kids can say they were player escort for a Everton and Schalke game :)

Haha, Destroyer is a pretty good show. I've always thought of him as too much of a "studio" musician, but the two times I've seen Dan Bejar (one was with the New Pornographers), he put on a great performance. He's not the nicest fellow outside though. Tried to strike up a conversation but he seemed jaded and even depressed. Kind of makes sense if you listen to his music. It's brilliant but very cynical at times.

What's the reason for soccer being so big in your family?
